Bloggers are posting the livestream of the HB2 Protest in North Carolina.

The North Carolina NAACP and the Forward Together Moral Movement are joined by organizations and people from all over the state to protest HB2, the hateful bill that was hastily passed by the North Carolina General Assembly and quickly signed into law by a Governor who later admitted that the bill - targeted at North Carolinas transgender community while also stripping North Carolina workers of their rights as employees - "has problems". In Houston: NAACP fully supports HERO!

The NAACP came out in support of the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO). Using Twitter and radio ads, the organization is in stealth mode to get the message out.

Here's more from their site
As Houstonians head to the polls to cast their early votes on Proposition 1, the NAACP and Houston Urban League—the city’s most prominent African-American organizations—are urging a YES vote to protect Houston’s Equal Rights Ordinance. In addition to the radio ads, the organizations have purchased ads in print publications across the city, including images harkening back tot he 1960’s Civil Rights Movement with the tagline, “We were about equality then. We are about equality NOW.”

There’s no denying that discrimination is a real issue in Houston. In the last year, more than 60% of discrimination claims filed under Houston’s Equal Rights Ordinance were on the basis of race. Without an equal rights ordinance, Houstonians would be forced to literally make a federal case out of it—and bear the burden of a costly, drawn-out legal battle.
We’re proud to stand alongside allies like the NAACP and Houston Urban League in supporting an ordinance that ensures all Houstonians are treated fairly and equally under the law.

#WhoIsBurningBlackChurches

From the NAACP
After tireless work and congressional hearings that led to the Church Arson Prevention Act being passed in 1996--almost 20 years later, we must again seek justice, investigate and find #WhoIsBurningBlackChurches. Seven black churches have burned since the terrorist attack at Emanuel AME Church.
This is story we should talking about. Hate crimes against us are slowly creeping back up. And I hate to say it... I think it's only the beginning.

NAACP released a statement on Rachel Dolezal

Baltimore, MD – For 106 years, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has held a long and proud tradition of receiving support from people of all faiths, races, colors and creeds. NAACP Spokane Washington Branch President Rachel Dolezal is enduring a legal issue with her family, and we respect her privacy in this matter. One’s racial identity is not a qualifying criteria or disqualifying standard for NAACP leadership. The NAACP Alaska-Oregon-Washington State Conference stands behind Ms. Dolezal’s advocacy record. In every corner of this country, the NAACP remains committed to securing political, educational, and economic justice for all people, and we encourage Americans of all stripes to become members and serve as leaders in our organization.

Hate language sent through mail and social media along with credible threats continue to be a serious issue for our units in the Pacific Northwest and across the nation. We take all threats seriously and encourage the FBI and the Department of Justice to fully investigate each occurrence.

NAACP Leader Caught lying about her Race - VIDEO

Okay, this is too much, just too much!

This woman, Rachel Dolezal, is the president of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP. Now, looking at her, I would think she was possibly mixed... Possibly.

Now, she has been in this role for awhile and was on KXLY4 to talk about the hate crimes she's reported over the years. But here's the tea, this woman is WHITE. She has claimed that her father is Black, but the truth is her daddy is White. Her parents start calling her out on her mess and then this happened

It's sad and a bit funny in some ways. How and why did she do this? And she did think she could do this forever?

This woman needs some help

FBI search for the Man responsible Explosion outside the NAACP office

There's a lot news going on about the the bombing near the NAACP office.

Here's more

Authorities on Tuesday investigated an explosion near a building housing a chapter of the NAACP civil rights group in Colorado Springs.

Police and the FBI responded to the blast and were at the location of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People chapter, police and FBI representatives said.

A woman who answered the phone at the NAACP office but declined to give her name said people inside the building heard a "loud boom" coming from a lawn area in the rear.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reported that there were no injuries in the blast near the building, which also houses a hair salon. Streets around the area were closed while authorities investigated, the newspaper said.

The FBI is looking a White man, balding in his 40s. According to reports, this man may know about the homemade explosive.

More to come on this story.

In Michigan: A Group of Black Pastors rally against the NAACP and Marriage Equality

In today's foolishness... A group of Black pastors try to invoke MLK's beliefs in their hate speech on marriage equality.

Lead by Minister Stacy Swimp (yes, that hideous name), the group will file legal briefs in more than 80 court cases involving lawsuits to legalize gay marriage in Michigan. This group also threw shade at the NAACP for supporting marriage equality.

Los Angeles NAACP President Resigns over Donald Sterling Drama

Los Angeles NAACP President Leon Jenkins resigned yesterday over the group's ties to Donald Sterling.

In the middle of the Sterling drama, he was going to be honored with a lifetime achievement award. Yeah, seriously, even after the issues with racial incidents involving tenants.

Anywho, Leon snatched back the honor award thingy once everything rolled out. However, folks starting learning more interesting stuff. Sterling's donated a lot of cash to Leon's branch since 2009. Once this info hit the press, Leon decided that he should step down.

He said:
"Please be advised that the legacy, history and reputation of the NAACP is more important to me than the presidency. In order to separate the Los Angeles NAACP and the NAACP from the negative exposure I have caused the NAACP."
More to come

NAACP Leader Ben Jealous will resign in December

Noooo!

Ben Jealous, my ideal man, the NAACP president will be stepping down this December. He said he needed to spend more time with his family.

Ben has been an excellent leader and visionary for the NAACP. He has helped the group move forward on many issues, especially on gay rights.

He said:
"Leadership knows when to step up and when to step down. This day I can say with pride that I'm prepared to step down and make room for the next person who will lead this organization to its next chapter."
We will miss him.

Interesting Quote: Karl Rove

"President Obama politicized this at the beginning of it, I believe, unfortunately, by injecting himself into it. We need a president to bring us together, not rip us apart, and I hope the Justice Department does not respond to the ill-advised recommendation of the NAACP to continue this controversy."
Whatever.

NAACP wants a Civil Rights Case against George Zimmerman

The NAACP wants the DOJ to open a Civil Rights Case against George Zimmerman. Like many of us, the NAACP calls bullshit on the case and wants the DOJ involved.

Here's the petition:

A jury has acquitted George Zimmerman, but we are not done demanding justice for Trayvon. Sign our petition to the Department of Justice today.

Attorney General Eric Holder,

The Department of Justice has closely monitored the State of Florida's prosecution of the case against George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin murder since it began. Today, with the acquittal of George Zimmerman, it is time for the Department of Justice to act.

The most fundamental of civil rights — the right to life — was violated the night George Zimmerman stalked and then took the life of Trayvon Martin. We ask that the Department of Justice file civil rights charges against Mr. Zimmerman for this egregious violation.

Please address the travesties of the tragic death of Trayvon Martin by acting today.

Thank you.

If you have a moment, please sign.

NAACP files Brief against DOMA

The NAACP continues their support of gay marriage by filing a brief against DOMA

The Washington Post reports:
The 73-year-old civil rights organization was founded to battle racial discrimination in the courts. No surprise, then, that the LDF was at the Supreme Court last week fighting for the Voting Rights Act. But it also had no problem arguing that the struggle for marriage equality for same-sex couples is in line with the battle against the “separate but equal” doctrine that blocked blacks from pursuing the American dream.
In the brief:
Of course, the nature of discrimination against gays and lesbians differs fundamentally from de jure racial segregation, just as racial discrimination differs from discrimination based on sex and other suspect classifications to which heightened scrutiny applies. But DOMA and other laws that purposefully infringe on the rights of gay people are analogous to the racial caste system effectuated under “separate but equal” in an important respect: they create and perpetuate a social hierarchy that is premised on the superiority of one group over another.
By virtually any measure, gays and lesbians have been subjected to systemic discrimination throughout our nation’s history, resulting in their ongoing subordination as a class. And DOMA’s express purpose is to create and perpetuate a hierarchy that disadvantages gay people based on their sexual orientation…..

WATCH: Kerry Washington receive President's Award at the NAACP Image Awards

Kerry receives the top award at the NAACP Image Award.

In her speech, Kerry says:

‎"We must insure that 'We, the people' includes all Americans, regardless of race, class, gender and sexual orientation. We must also work to ensure that the stories we tell, the movies we produce, the television we produce, the theaters we stage, the novels we publish, are all inclusive in all those same ways."

NAACP creates HIV/AIDS Manual for Black churches

The NAACP has joined in fight to stop the rise of HIV/AIDS in the Black community. They have created a manual for church leaders to talk about HIV/AIDS with their members.

Here's more:

Shavon Arline-Bradley, the director of health programs for the NAACP, who helped oversee the manual’s creation, said it makes sense for the nation’s largest civil rights organization to be involved in the discussion of HIV and AIDS.

“People look at us as just civil right rights, and what they’re missing is that health is one of the most pressing civil rights issues of our time,” Arline-Bradley said.

Religious leaders who helped with the manual said black churches have been reluctant to talk about the disease. That’s in part because the topic is wrapped up with sex and homosexuality, often taboo topics in the church.

“Sex is not something church people like to talk about. It’s something they like to do,” said the Rev. Joseph Smith, the assistant to the pastor of the Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Va., and one of the people who worked on the manual.
This is a good first step.

NAACP Leader, Civil Rights Pioneer Willis Edwards has Died

This weekend we have lost a fighter. Longtime president of the Beverly Hills/Hollywood branch of the NAACP, Willis Edwards died this weekend. Willis was one of the few openly gay presidents of the organization. He was a true fighter for civil rights and the recognition of people of color. One of things he is highly known for is getting the NAACP Image Awards televised.

Karen Ocamb from LBGT/POV has more of this amazing leader:

Edwards, who was born in Texas and raised in Palm Springs, was instrumental in launching the NAACP Image Awards on national television. He contributed that expertise to panels such as “Knocking Down the Door: Black LGBT Images in Media” – a standing room only panel at the Screen Actors Guild in March 2009, sponsored by GLAAD and the National Black Justice Coalition with the panel co-sponsored by SAG’s LGBT Actors Committee and the Beverly Hills/Hollywood Branch of the NAACP.

Willis was honored by the Black AIDS Institute and the Magic Johnson Foundation on World AIDS Day in 2010, along with former President Bill Clinton, actor and HIV/AIDS activist Blair Underwood, among others.

Last year, Willis was a respected and ubiquitous presence during the NAACP’s national convention in Los Angeles July 22-24. During the Saturday, July 23, lunch that featured a very strong keynote by Dr. Gail Wyatt, UCLA AIDS Institute, Willis took the podium and was received warmly with much familiarity and appreciative applause.  During the NAACP’s first-ever Town Hall on LGBT issues, Willis was acknowledged by NAACP panelists and civil rights icon Julian Bond – which prompted Willis to speak his mind with the authority of years from his perch in the audience.
He will be missed to us in LA and across the country.

Some Silly Black Clergy Org is still crying about NAACP's Gay Marriage Support

Some, and not a lot, of preachers are still whining about NAACP's support of gay marriage. CAAP
the Coalition of African-American Pastors, brought this up at the NAACP annual convention. Lead by this hater, Rev. William Owens, the group claims the NAACP was abandon the solid purpose of the organization.

Interesting, considering the core purpose of the org. was to fight bigotry and inequality.

Anywho, this preacher said a lot crap like:
"You're advocating for something that's not normal, that's not natural. It's still out of line, it's against moral law."

"Gay marriage is leading us down a bad path," Owens added. "Our young people are already hurt. They're already damaged."
These are, as usual, empty statements. Moral law? Child please, if you can't handle change, Rev. William Owens then go! Get the f**k out! I'm sick of these self-righteous freaks, talking about what's right and wrong.

The hatred and foolishness this group are pushing is wrong and if anything, that's against moral law too.
