Laverne Cox's Boyfriend is a Cutie
Laverne Cox has a man in her life and he's a cutie. His name is Jono Freedrix, and he's president of The Virtual Stage, a Vancouver-based film and theater company. So he ain't no buster, okay?
US Weekly has more:
Cox and Freedrix were spotted packing on the PDA at the Weinstein Company/Netflix SAG Awards afterparty at Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood on Saturday, January 30.
According to an eyewitness, Cox wasn’t shy about getting close to her beau. The transgender star spent the evening dancing with and kissing Freedrix. At one point in the night, the source says Freedrix even playfully slapped her ass. Cox was having so much fun, another source adds, that she split her pants dancing!
I'm happy for them and hope for the best.

Laverne Cox shares her thoughts on Caitlyn Jenner and what happens now
From her Tumblr
Yes, Caitlyn looks amazing and is beautiful but what I think is most beautiful about her is her heart and soul, the ways she has allowed the world into her vulnerabilities. The love and devotion she has for her family and that they have for her. Her courage to move past denial into her truth so publicly. These things are beyond beautiful to me. A year ago when my Time magazine cover came out I saw posts from many trans folks saying that I am “drop dead gorgeous” and that that doesn’t represent most trans people. (It was news to be that I am drop dead gorgeous but I’ll certainly take it). But what I think they meant is that in certain lighting, at certain angles I am able to embody certain cisnormative beauty standards. Now, there are many trans folks because of genetics and/or lack of material access who will never be able to embody these standards. More importantly many trans folks don’t want to embody them and we shouldn’t have to to be seen as ourselves and respected as ourselves . It is important to note that these standards are also informed by race, class and ability among other intersections. I have always been aware that I can never represent all trans people. No one or two or three trans people can. This is why we need diverse media representations of trans folks to multiply trans narratives in the media and depict our beautiful diversities.
I started #TransIsBeautiful as a way to celebrate all those things that make trans folks uniquely trans, those things that don’t necessarily align with cisnormative beauty standards. For me it is necessary everyday to celebrate every aspect of myself especially those things about myself that don’t align with other people’s ideas about what is beautiful. #TransIsBeautiful is about, whether you’re trans or not, celebrating all those things that make us uniquely ourselves. Most trans folks don’t have the privileges Caitlyn and I have now have. It is those trans folks we must continue to lift up, get them access to healthcare, jobs, housing, safe streets, safe schools and homes for our young people. We must lift up the stories of those most at risk, statistically trans people of color who are poor and working class. I have hoped over the past few years that the incredible love I have received from the public can translate to the lives of all trans folks. Trans folks of all races, gender expressions, ability, sexual orientations, classes, immigration status, employment status, transition status, genital status etc.. I hope, as I know Caitlyn does, that the love she is receiving can translate into changing hearts and minds about who all trans people are as well as shifting public policies to fully support the lives and well being of all of us. The struggle continues…

Laverne Cox on Bruce Jenner
"I spoke to Bruce today, and they were really pleased with the way things went last night. I think a lot of people tuned in expecting to see a spectacle, and they tuned in and saw a profoundly nuanced, complicated, beautiful human being. I thought ABC handled it really beautifully... I had spoken to Bruce several months back, and the same person I had spoken to on the phone, who really just loves their children so much and wants their family to be happy, was the person I saw on television last night."

CANDY Magazine showcase Transgender Superstars
Here's info on Candy magazine
Named for the Warhol superstar Candy Darling, it’s a celebration of gender and sexual diversity that manages to be simultaneously glamorous and radical. Venegas is wrapping C☆NDY’s fifth-anniversary issue, out this week, in a special gatefold cover (“Like Vanity Fair’s Hollywood issue,” he says gleefully); it features the world’s biggest transgender names. This feels like a milestone in more ways than one. This also feels like the right moment to nag Venegas about his magnificent obsessions.

Glamour Magazine chooses Laverne Cox as ‘Woman Of The Year’
“So much of the year I’ve had is historic, but this is a moment that is bigger than me. I meet people who say that my role has given them the courage to say, ‘This is who I am’ and ‘I can transition and be successful and to be out as a trans person.” …We have this internal compass of the truth inside of us. And that is our job, really, to quiet all this noise around us and listen to that.”source

Interesting Quote: Laverne Cox
"I feel so often that our oppressors are in a lot of pain. When someone needs to call someone else out for who they are and make fun of them, it's because they don't feel comfortable with who they are. And so, if anyone ever has a problem with someone else, I ask you to look at yourselves first -- what is it about you that you have a problem with?"Laverne on Cox when two men harassed her on a New York City street.

Transgender Actress/Activist Laverne Cox Graces the Cover of TIME Magazine
Perfect timing.
TIME magazine has sent me this awesome cover and article featuring Laverne Cox.
Laverne tells TIME
"We are in a place now where more and more trans people want to come forward and say, ‘This is who I am.’ And more trans people are willing to tell their stories. More of us are living visibly and pursuing our dreams visibly, so people can say, ‘Oh yeah, I know someone who is trans.’ When people have points of reference that are humanizing, that demystifies difference.”
Here's a video from the photo shoot

The Words of Wisdom from Laverne Cox's mother, Gloria
During the GLAAD Awards, Laverne's mother joined her on stage for her award. Later backstage, Gloria had some great words to share with the world, via Access Hollywood.
"Understanding, and praying, and talking, and continuing to talk. And, most of all, love." As for her advice to parents of LGBT children, Gloria said, "Listen. Listen to your children, take note of actions, and talk. Open dialogue…that's the most important thing."WATCH this great moment
