The Internal Revenue Service released a new YouTube video designed to provide useful tax tips to married same-sex couples.
The video is the latest addition to an online library featuring short IRS instructional videos covering more than 100 topics ranging from tips for victims of identity theft to taking advantage of the new simplified home office deduction. These videos have been viewed more than seven million times.
The new video, less than two minutes long, is available in English, Spanish and American Sign Language and can be accessed via IRS.gov. It joins an array of online products, including answers to frequently-asked questions, designed to help same-sex couples file their federal income tax returns.
Following last summer’s Supreme Court decision invalidating a key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act, the IRS ruled that same-sex couples, legally married in jurisdictions that recognize their marriages, are now treated as married for federal tax purposes. The ruling applies to all federal tax provisions where marriage is a factor, including filing status, claiming personal and dependency exemptions, taking the standard deduction, employee benefits, contributing to an IRA and claiming the earned income tax credit or child tax credit.

Report: IRS targeted Progressives as well
Well, know we know that the Tea Party wasn't the only group being watched.
Progressive groups were also on the look out. Words like ‘‘Israel,’’ ‘'Progressive’’ and ‘‘Occupy," were also on the list. So this puts a big ass hole in the claims that only the Tea Party folks were the main target.
If you like, please read Danny Werfel, the principal deputy commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, report and see for yourself

NOM Chair John Eastman acts like a Victim in the IRS drama. Gets READ by Rep. Earl Blumenauer
This fool thought he was doing something, addressing Rep. Earl Blumenauer in this clip
But Rep. Blumenauer wasn't having it.
He responded in a piece in HuffPo

Last year, internal National Organization for Marriage (NOM) strategy documents were leaked, stating that the organization seeks "to drive a wedge between gays and blacks" by promoting "African American spokespeople for marriage," thus provoking same-sex marriage supporters into "denouncing these spokesmen and women as bigots," and "to interrupt the assimilation" of Latinos into "dominant Anglo culture" by making the stance against same-sex marriage "a key badge of Latino identity."
Does this sound like social welfare to you?
Social welfare organizations should work in the public interest -- not to divide, exploit, and conquer.
When I brought this up at the hearing today, Dr. Eastman, Chairman of the Board of NOM, angrily groused, "To say that defending traditional marriage doesn't qualify for defense of the public good is beyond preposterous."
To Dr. Eastman, I say that it is the denial of my constituents, and all Americans, the right to marry the person they love is preposterous. To exploit racial and religious differences so you can fundraise for and enforce your specific worldview is preposterous.
But your right to be preposterous should not extend to taking political positions under the guise of a social welfare organization, raising money and campaigning.Yes, NOM has no case and this public hearing makes them sound... preposterous

NOM wants to sue the IRS, but Maggie Gallagher screwed their Case
NOM is trying to ride the IRS drama wave about their Tax info being leaked. In a press release, Brian Brown states:
"Dear Marriage Supporter, Of all the scandals plaguing the Obama administration this week, the revelation that the Internal Revenue Service targeted Tea Party and conservative groups for harassment during the last Presidential election is perhaps the most shocking. But it pales in comparison to what we have been attempting to expose for over a year: that the IRS is also guilty of leaking our confidential tax return to our opponents at the Human Rights Campaign! Now that the eyes of the nation are fixed on this exploding IRS scandal, this is our opportunity to expose the truth! That's why I'm asking you to make an immediate gift of $35, $50 or $100 to help us call on Congress to investigate the IRS."Well, that's cute and all, but have they talked to Maggie lately? I guess not, because she just blew their claims. In the National Review, she said:
"(Kevin) is claiming — and I think it is plausible — that low-level employees found a clever way to use their low-level job to influence (they hoped) a U.S. election. Have they been identified and fired? Because otherwise this becomes no longer a low-level problem. (You may recall that a low-level employee also released NOM’s private tax-return information to a guy claiming to be a NOM employee, who then posted it on the Internet.)"See? NOM, you have no case. Go home and try again.
