Today is the 40th Anniversary of GOOD TIMES
This show is a bit of a staple in the Black community. It was a basic story of a struggling family in America, with a hard working father, a loving mother, and three interesting kids.
For 5 years, the series told a lot good and sad stories from Michael's run-in with the FBI over Cuba, JJ getting shot, Thelma's Marriage to Keith, Penny, Florida leaving and returning, and the last episode where they all leave the ghetto.
But the one episode (actually 2 episodes) that got to me was James' death.
Here are scenes from those 2 episodes

I loved watching this show when I was growing up.
Being in a single parent (then) welfare family, I saw similar issues - beyond skin colour.
Actually, I didn't see them as a black family. Just a family doing it hard.
You didn't mention the music. Good Times had one of the greatest theme songs in television history.
