New Study: Straight men more stressed, depressed than Gay Men

A Canadian study focusing on anxiety and sexual orientation, says that straight men suffer more depression and more stress than gay and bi men.

Interesting, I know, but here's more:

"Interestingly and contrary to our hypothesis, gay and bisexual men had significantly lower depressive symptoms and allostatic load levels than heterosexual men," wrote lead author Robert-Paul Juster, a neuroscientist at McGill University.

Heterosexual men registered a third higher on an index of allostatic load compared with gay and bisexual men. In contrast, lesbian and bisexual women ranked higher than heterosexual women on the index.

Noting that clinical indexes for stress include measures of body weight and fat, authors speculated that it was possible that gay and bisexual men focused more on maintaining thinness and muscularity than straight men.

The last piece is interesting because some gays have an unhealthy focus on their bodies from peer pressure and dating purposes.

Seattle Seahawks punter Jon Ryan just joined the ally team. He wants the San Francisco 49ers Chris Culliver suspended for his anti-gay remarks. Jon tweeted this statement:

If Chris Culliver isn’t suspended by Goodell then I am absolutely embarrassed to be part of a league that accepts this type of behavior.

And so I couldn't really even say anything negative to the young man. It's just one of those things where you have to live and you have to learn. So we've kind of seen it happen this time. So we just have to all learn from what happened, from this mistake. He apologized and hopefully he'll learn. And he's in the Bay Area, and it's really important there, it's pertinent there. So I think he's going to learn and he's going to grow to be a better person for it."

Chick-Fil-A came out on Top regardless of Bad Press

Well, looks like the boycotts and kiss-ins proved to be almost worthless. Regardless of the negative press about Dan Cathy's views, Chick-Fil-A still made money... lots of it.

The fast food giant, the nation’s second-largest chicken chain, ended 2012 with $4.6 billion in sales — up 14 percent from $4.1 billion a year earlier. The company also opened 96 news stores, four more than the year before.

The company does not have to publicize financial results because it is privately owned. It made revenue and store growth figures available at the request of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Supporters of Cathy’s views against gay marriage and his right to express them hailed the numbers as a victory, saying a summer boycott of the chain by backers of gay marriage failed.

I knew this was a losing battle, but at least there was attention on this mess.

Two San Francisco 49ers suddenly have amnesia over the ‘It Gets Better’ video

More mess from the 49ers.

Linebacker Ahmad Brooks and nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga (child, these position names are too much) must have memory loss for being hit in their heads too much. These fools claim they were never in "It Gets Better" video.

The players were asked about the video Thursday because teammate Chris Culliver made derogatory remarks about gays in a media day interview with radio personality Artie Lange.

At first, Brooks and Sopoaga, approached by USA TODAY Sports, denied being part of the project.

"I didn't make any video," Brooks said. "This is America and if someone wants to be gay, they can be gay. It's their right. But I didn't make any video."

When told USA TODAY Sports had seen the video and he was in it, Brooks replied, "I don't remember that. I think if I made a video, I'd remember it."

He was shown the video on an iPhone.

"Oh, that. It was an anti-bullying video, not a gay (rights) video," he said.

When told that studies show that the majority of teens who are bullied are harassed over sexual identity issues, Brooks thought for a second.

"I know that. I know that," he said. "Okay, you're right and I'm wrong. Are you from one of those New York newspapers?"

Their PR folks will be working overtime this weekend.
