When I see all of those gay guys lip syncing Britney Spears, Ke$ha or Gaga, I'm usually bored by the mess. The guys are cute, but the dancing is BLAH!

So when I need to see GOOD dancing gays, I go to clips like this.

Gay Men Targeted in NYC's West Village

The Village in NYC ain't as safe as it used to be. According to NYPD, there are some thugs targeting gay men in the area.

GBM News has the story:

At least five gay men have been robbed by “mugging teams” in New York City’s West Village over the past two weeks, police warned yesterday.


The robberies, all during the early morning hours, were concentrated in the area of Christopher Street and Seventh Avenue South, the heart of the traditionally gay-oriented Village.


Along Christopher Street are several well-known gay bars, such as the Stonewall Inn, the Hangar, and Fat Cat.


The criminals are apparently finding their marks in such places, including a 26-year old victim who told investigators he “blacked out” during a party at the Hangar, and awoke in a pizza shop up the block, where he was met by a “heavyset woman”.


This woman told him his bag had been lifted, but she knew where it was. She led him to the bottom of a stairwell at 80 Christopher Street (many buildings and businesses along the blocks of Christopher Street west of Seventh have depressed entrances), where, she said, his bag had been dumped.


When the unidentified victim went down to retrieve it, he was jumped from behind and his iPhone was taken.


According to police, all five of the victims were alone when they were robbed, and detectives are said to be looking for several suspects, “possibly organized crews”.


Mugshots have been released of at least two suspects, one a heavyset woman described as a player in the Hangar robbery, and a possible accomplice, a young, fit male. 

Wow! This is one of the few area I hang out while I'm in NYC. Sad to hear this is going on. To my fam down in the Village and Christopher St., be careful and stay alert.

Tennesseans Rally against the "Don't Say Gay' Bill

The 'Don't Say Gay' Bill has fired up some Tennesseans to take action. Over 70 people rallied against the bill, hoping to drum up more support to stop it.

Thursday's half-hour rally was held a few feet away from the Oak Ridge Turnpike in front of the Civic Center and across the street from Oak Ridge High School. Teachers, students, parents, clergy, and community leaders gave short speeches and held signs with slogans such as "Stand on the Side of Love" and "It's okay to say gay."

Passing motorists showed their support by honking or giving thumbs-up signals.

"Gay doesn't mean bad," said Alesha Hicks, an Oak Ridge High School senior and GSA president. She said Campfield's legislation would tell children that bullying because of sexual orientation is OK.

Those who spoke at the rally, organized by the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church and the GSA at ORHS and Karns High School, said gay students have to endure ignorance, intolerance, and regular name-calling -- and they sometimes live in fear of brutality.

There are more rallies planned. Maybe this will spread throughout my home state.

Archie Comics' Kevin Keller introduces his Dad, a 3 Star General to the Scene

 The 2nd issue of Kevin Keller, (the gay Archie character) has his father on the cover. And his dad is in the military.

It’s with August’s second issue that Archie Comics is perhaps its boldest yet. In a story by cartoonist Dan Parent, Veronica helps Kevin’s family plan a birthday party for his father. It’s a simple enough premise in which Veronica learns more about Kevin while he comes to realize that, of all the places he’s lived — he’s a military brat — Riverdale has come to feel like home.

However, it’s the cover that (obviously) stands out the most: Against a backdrop of the Stars & Stripes, openly gay Kevin Keller embraces his father, a three-star general, and proclaims, “Dad, you’re my hero!”

It’s a nice moment of love and acceptance between father and son that’s difficult not to view in a larger context, that of the heated and prolonged debate over gays and lesbians serving in the military, and the recent repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

 This comic is really moving forward. Go Kevin!
