"You're Gonna Make It After All" Shangela! She's Cast in a NBC Pilot!

Shangela may be OUT of the Drag Race, but she's IN Hollywood. Shangela has won a role in a Don Johnson pilot.

But Drag Race fans, don’t fret! You may not have seen the last of the show’s loved and hated Post-Modern Pimp Ho: Shangie Pants has been cast alongside Don Johnson in TV pilot drama A Mann’s World that, if it gets picked up to series, will air on NBC this fall.


Huh? That’s right.  I recently found myself perusing a list of potential pilots for the fall and stumbled upon a familiar name: D.J. Pierce, which — true Shangie fans will realize — is Shangela’s real name. I confirmed, and this Pierce listed is indeed the Shangela we all know — and either love or hate.

So what’s the deal with the show — and Shangela’s role on it? Here’s what’s what. A Mann’s World centers on Johnson, who plays Allan Mann, a Beverly Hills hairdresser (yes, really) who is having trouble staying relevant. And this is where Shangela comes into play: In the pilot, Shangela — err, D.J. Pierce — is set to play Snip, one of three fabulous, top-tiered stylists who come into Mann’s salon. (One-third of the trio will be played by none other than viral video celebrity Chris Crocker, who became famous after releasing a crying jag about Britney Spears’ infamously botched performance of “Gimme More” at the 2007 VMAs.) Also starring in the show are Sex and the City‘s Mario Cantone and Ellen Barkin. Sex and the City‘s Michael Patrick King is set to produce. Not a shabby cast or creative team, to say the least!

GOProud's Christopher Barron supports Donald Trump's Foolishness

Believe this mess or not, Christopher Barron supports Donald Trump. If you didn't know, he help bring Trump to CPAC.

But with Donald's recent birther foolishness, smart people would walk away from that... Not Chris.

Politico reports

Trump, incidentally, isn't just overshadowing the candidates. He's dragging other bits of the party down the birther rabbit-hole with him. For instance, I asked Chris Barron, the trump booster who heads the gay conservative group GOProud, whether he thinks Trump's questions about Obama's birth certificate are legitimate.

"Organizationally it's not a GOProud issue. Not related to any of the organization's legislative priorities," he said, and added when I pressed him on his view, said that it "is that it's not an issue that particularly resonates with me, but it clearly resonates with a large segment of the Republican primary. I think Mr. Trump's position on this has been a pretty common-sense one, and honestly, I can't understand why President Obama wouldn't have released his birth certificate before now to put an end to this once and for all."

Common sense? Oh Chris, please. However, he later clarified his stance.

It is obviously a slow news day, because there has been quite a bit of attention paid to comments I made to Ben Smith at Politico about Donald Trump and the birth certificate issue. First off, any position I have on this issue is mine and mine alone. I made it clear to Ben repeatedly that GOProud has no position on this issue – this issue has absolutely no relationship to any part of GOProud’s legislative and policy agenda. In the same way GOProud doesn’t opine on state issues because we don’t work on state issues, GOProud isn’t going to opine on an issue like this that is so far afield from our area of work. 

And he even put up a pic, proving that he's an asshole, oh I mean, an America Asshole.

How can he stand with Trump after he said he will deny us our rights? Is Chris that daft?

Yes, believe it or not... There is a 'Born This Way' Glee Episode

Good Grief! Glee is going down this uber-poppy, "please the teens" route of storytelling. Look out for the 'Born This Way' episode.

Glee‘s April 26 outing is so big that even its usual 60-minute time slot can’t contain it. Sources confirm to me exclusively that the episode is jam-packed with good stuff to the point that Fox will likely expand it to 90 minutes.


Coincidentally, the unorthodox installment features the music of an artist who knows a thing or two about breaking the rules: Lady Gaga. While not another tribute outing, the episode’s theme of self-acceptance was inspired by the singer’s runaway hit “Born this Way.” In fact, the title of the episode is “Born This Way” and it concludes with a rousing performance of the No. 1 smash.
Before that, though, the kids grapple with their own body image issues.

For example, Lauren (Ashley Fink) runs for prom queen, in so doing challenging the traditional notion of what a pageant princess looks like. Rachel (Lea Michele), meanwhile, considers getting a nose job.

Well, I'm sure it will be... Oh, Hell. This will be hokey. Most of the episodes are, which is why I don't watch it that much. Hopefully, Quentin Tarantino can take over for a season. I'm sick of the cotton candy styling of this show. Sorry to those who love it... I used to.

Republicans Block Civil Unions Bill in Colorado

Earlier yesterday, it seemed that Colorado was going to get the Civil Union Act approved in the state. But later in the day, the GOP halted that process.

The House Judiciary Committee voted to stop the forward progress of SB-172, the Colorado Civil Union Act, a bill that would have provided committed gay and lesbian couples with critical legal protections, such as the ability to inherit property, to take family leave to care for a partner, to visit a partner in the hospital, and to make medical and end-of-life decisions for a partner.


“Today’s vote was out of touch with everyday Colorado voters. With 72% of Coloradans in support of civil unions, House Republicans are out of the mainstream,” said Brad Clark, Executive Director of One Colorado, a statewide LGBT advocacy organization. “Once again, they have turned their backs on Colorado families and kids.”


According to polls, support for civil unions is high. A February 2011 poll by Public Policy Polling found that 72% of Colorado voters support legal recognition of gay and lesbian couples.


Additionally, a Greenberg Quinlan Rosner poll conducted in 2010 found support for civil unions across political parties and religious affiliations, including 61% of Republicans, 84% of independents, 70% of Catholics, 67% of Protestants, and 55% of “born again Christians.”


“In the past two months, there have been more than 18,000 emails, calls, and postcards to legislators in support of this measure. A coalition of nearly one million Coloradans support this measure. And poll after poll reinforces that Colorado voters support this measure by a wide margin – Democrats and Republicans alike. Today, Republicans were out-of-touch with Colorado voters,” Clark continued. 

This is hopefully, a small set back at this time. With most of the people in support of the act, how can they deny this right?
