Anti-trump Billboard pops up in Arizona

Have y'all heard about this?

In Phoenix, Arizona, this billboard is standing on high in their downtown area.

Artist Karen Fiorito created it and boy, is she causing a commotion. The billboard is art and it was commissioned by a Phoenix art gallery in January to focus on trump’s administration.

The billboard went up on Friday afternoon and quickly, Karen got feedback and death threats. Personally, I give her credit to do this in Arizona. I mean, it's Arizona, trump's base state.

Kudos to Karen.

Check Out Bryan Singer's concept of Phoenix if he Directed X-Men 3

We really missed out

From Universo X-Men
Previously we disclose the UX has an interview with Famke, where the actress vents about what the film could have been if it had focused on her character, one of the most beloved of the Marvel Universe, Jean Grey, the Phoenix.
If you have not yet read the interview click here!

And after all this disclosure actress, more of pre-production materials were leaked on the internet, and we are here to spread the concept art of the film that has ever existed, X-Men 3 based entirely on the Dark Phoenix saga. That would have happened if the director Bryan Singer (X-Men: The Movie, X-Men 2, X-Men: DOFP and X-Men: Revelation) had also assumed the position, which did not happen because it took over the Superman movie and then the eternally criticized Brett Ratner, took his place.

Uh Oh! Is the Phoenix back in ALL-NEW X-MEN #13?

I saw this pic from the upcoming issue of All-New X-Men and it got me thinking... Will the adult Jean return?

Comic fans, what do you think?

Phoenix expands Anti-Discrimination Law to Include LGBT Community

The Phoenix City Council did something good last night.

They have expanded the city's anti-discrimination law to protect the LGBT community in city contracts, housing, employment and all public accommodations.

KPHO reports
The vote approving the ordinance revision was 5-3. Councilmen Jim Waring, Bill Gates and Sal DiCiccio voted against the measure.

The city currently prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, genetic information and marital status.

"This was the right thing to do for our city," Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton said. "With 165 other cities, including Tucson and Flagstaff, adopting similar ordinances, some more than a decade ago, Phoenix had some catching up to do. We as a city value all our citizens, and consider diversity as our strength. It's good for business, it's good for our economy, and it's the right thing to do for Phoenix."
Of course there were haters, complaining about sexual predators, but it wasn't enough to sway the vote.

My List of Big Things to look out for in Comic Books for 2012

Comics will be epic in 2012. There are a lot of interesting stories coming and the results could change the game for a long time. So I'm going to touch on some of the big things coming in the world of comics.

Donna Troy - Donna has been absent from DC's New 52, or is she? Could she be the Mysterious Woman lingering in the background? Or will she play a bigger role? Remember, Donna is an anomaly in the DC universe. Her deaths and resurrections usually has a purpose. Could this be one of purposeful moments?

Phoenix - The Phoenix force is returning. What does that mean for Hope, Jean Grey and the X-Men? Everything!

New 52 - The reboot of DC Comics really caused a stir. While was fun, it was a little crazy (Wonder Woman getting a Dad, Superman in jeans, Barbara Gordon walking). It will be interesting to see where the stories will take us.

Films - 2012 will bring some BIG comic book movies like: 'The Avengers', 'The Dark Knight Rises' and 'Man of Steel'. I hope they deliver or we won't see anymore CBMs for awhile.

X-Men vs The Avengers - Someone dies and the both teams will change forever. But how? We will have to wait and see.

Watchmen 2 - This has caused a divide amongst comic book fans. The possible prequel will give us a deeper story on the 'Moore' heroes, but will it be worth it?

Marvel Comics will host a 'Phoenix' Revelation LIVE

On Wednesday, we will learn why Marvel have teased us about Phoenix for the last 8 years.

They are hosting a live event on Phoenix (possible) return:
After two months of teases, it looks like we may get some payoff on the “It’s coming” images that Marvel started running around the New York Comic-Con. The company has scheduled a live event this Wednesday at 3 p.m. Eastern to hopefully announce the project.
(...) “The Phoenix is the spirit of destruction and rebirth,” Alonso told CBR’s Kiel Phegley during a discussion about Point One. “It razes worlds to grow something new. It’s bad news if you happen to be part of that ecosystem; good news if you’re the next stage. And, as everyone knows, the Phoenix is nothing without a host. So, the question emerges: If the Phoenix is headed somewhere, where is that? And if it needs a host, who is that host? Because we all know what happened the last time it found a host!”
I wonder what this will be, but it could be interesting.

Marvel Teases the Return of Phoenix at NYCC

At NYCC, Marvel went hard on new titles and new info. In the mix, was new info about a favorite X-Man possibly making a comeback:

Marvel concluded its Cup O' Panel at New York Comic Con with a characteristically ominous image that hinted strongly at an incoming story that should delight some X-Men fans: that of the Phoenix. While the publisher has yet to release the teaser image shown to fans at the convention, Marvel did send out the above "It's coming..." postcard to comics stores and media outlets earlier this month. It's unknown whether the Phoenix will once again take the form of X-Woman Jean Grey or another character, but the panel confirmed that the story will begin in Point One.

Original Notes on how Jean Grey could've Returned

If you know the history of Jean Grey, you may know how the decision was made of her 1986 return in X-Factor 1.

Now, we have some new stuff from Kurt Busiek, who was a part of that major decision back then. He shares this info on his blog. And I have to say, it's interesting:

Michael Dougherty's vision for X-Men 3

I should let go, but I can't especially when X2 and Trick R Treat screenwriter (and cutie) Michael Dougherty talks about his ideas he suggested to Bryan Singer for the X3.

"You found out was that Phoenix was going round the world taking things into her own hands and that she had basically returned as a god, which they did in X3. She had viewed herself as above the conflict, that she was here to end things on her terms, she was sick of the fighting and she was going to take things into her own hands and she did not give a s**t what the X-Men or the Brotherhood had to say about it.

"And ultimately the way it was going to end, at least the version I was pushing for, would be that Phoenix was kind of like the Starchild at the end of 2001, she didn't just get stabbed and die again, but she kind of chose to leave.

"The one idea that I loved, that I really wanted to do, was that Cyclops would build the Danger Room. He felt guilty that because the X-Men were too weak, they weren't strong enough or fast enough, that was the reason Jean died. If they were a ittle bit better at fighting, then she might still be alive. It was all about this guilt he had about her death and he built the Danger Room to train them to be better. In the end it really was about him not being able to let go of her and that causes the chaos and disruption in the movie and in the end it's about him letting her go.

"Ultimately she kind of becomes that cosmic force that Phoenix is known to be, she leaves Earth and becomes a god, or at least a higher level of intelligence, and she goes into the cosmos possibly to kick-start life somewhere else. The final scene for me would have been her telling Cyclops or her telling the X-Men 'I'll be watching.'"

He said Phoenix eventually realised her new-found abilities were causing chaos and destruction but could be used for creating life instead.

Dougherty added: "I would love to have done a huge mythic film that sets up it up for even more stories."

Interesting, what do you think?

I hate that I missed this concert (it's actually straight up the street), but here is one of my favorite songs from them, Long Distance Call
