Michael Egan drops the Lawsuit Against Bryan Singer

The sexual abuse suit against Bryan Singer has been dropped.

The accuser, Michael Egan, dropped out due to the lack of counsel. His attorney, Jeff Herman, left the case in late July. Jeff said that relations with his Michael had “deteriorated.”

Herman, who staged several high-profile news conferences in April, withdrew from the case shortly after a Buzzfeed report that he and Singer’s lawyer, Martin Singer, had agreed to settle the lawsuit for $100,000 but Egan refused.

Herman’s firm filed one other suit against Singer — by an unidentified British plaintiff — but that case was voluntarily withdrawn in July.

In a statement to Variety last month, Martin Singer (no relation to Bryan Singer) said that “Bryan and his team will continue to fight to clear his name and intend to pursue charges of malicious prosecution against Egan.” He called Egan and Herman’s case “an attempted shakedown of Bryan Singer.”

Ancier filed a malicious prosecution suit in June against Egan and Herman.

Egan made four claims in each suit — intentional infliction of emotional distress, assault, battery and invasion of privacy by unreasonable intrusion. Each of the suits recounts in explicit detail the sexual acts that allegedly took place between Egan and each of the men.

Bryan Singer files Motion to Dismiss Sex Abuse case

Last week, we learned that Michael Egan, the guy who's suing Director Bryan Singer for sexual abuse, said in a sworn deposition that he has never been to Hawaii. However, in his sexual abuse claim, he said he did.

With that mishap on file and noted in public, Bryan has  filed a motion to dismiss the case lack of jurisdiction.

The filing comes less than a week after defendant David Neuman filed a similar motion – one that also cited a separate 2003 statement in which Egan said he’d “never had any kind of physical contact” with Neuman other than non-sexual social contact and that Neuman “never acted improperly.” Neuman also included declarations from numerous witnesses stating that he was not on the two 1999 Hawaii trips during which Egan alleges he was abused.

In another passage, Egan says in reference to “this thing that happened to you” that no one other than the 2000 defendants had been “partaking in all this stuff.”
The 2014 lawsuits, filed in Hawaii federal court against Singer, Neuman and two others – Garth Ancier and Gary Goddard – cover much the same time period and some of the same geography as the 2000 suit, yet the prior suit did not name the 2014 defendants.

Egan’s current counsel, Jeff Herman, has never offered an explanation of the omission despite publicly promising to obtain one. Nor has Egan’s counsel in the 2000 suit, who represented him as recently as 2011, provided any explanation as to why the 2000 suit didn’t name the four men whom Egan sued last month. Indeed, Neuman, like the 2000 defendants, was a top DEN executive.

Is the truth coming out about this Bryan Singer case?

BuzzFeed got a hold of the 2003 deposition made by Michael Egan (the man claiming that X-Men director Bryan Singer raped him). What's so important about this deposition? A lot.

Michael said the Bryan drugged and raped him in Hawaii. But in the deposition, Michael said he's never been there.

Asked during the deposition whether he had taken any trips outside the continental United States, Egan replied, “Never had any trips outside the continental U.S., no.” Egan then responds to a question specifically clarifying that he had never traveled to Hawaii.

“I’m not sure how he interpreted the continental United States,” Egan’s lawyer, Jeff Herman, said of the portion of the deposition. “I’m not sure what he’s talking about specifically here.”

Herman said that Egan’s mother, Bonnie Mound, told him that she had authorized either Marc Collins-Rector or Chad Shackley — both plaintiffs in the previous lawsuit — to take Egan to Hawaii on at least two occasions. Mound clarified this because, during the deposition, Egan explained that he had never traveled outside the continental United States because his mother would not approve such trips.

Herman said he also confirmed the trips with Egan.

Hmmm, seems to be a crack in this story.

Bryan Singer Accuser names 3 other Major Hollywood Players in Lawsuits

Michael Egan, the man who claims "X-Men" director Bryan Singer sexually assaulted him when he was 15, has filed new lawsuits against 3 other Hollywood mega-players.

These men are Garth Ancier, David Neuman and Gary Goddard.

TMZ reports:

Ancier has a slew of hits under his belt, including The Ricki Lake Show, which he created. He headed up the Fox entertainment group and produced 21 Jump Street, Married ... with Children, The Simpsons and In Living Color. He also developed Home Improvement at Disney. And at NBC he put The West Wing on the air.

Neuman is the former president of Disney TV. Goddard produced off-Broadway shows.

According to the new lawsuits, Ancier sexually abused Egan numerous times by sodomizing him, forcing oral sex and fondling him -- when he was 15 at an Encino estate. The suit goes on to allege Ancier sexually abused Egan in Hawaii 2 years later.

The suit against Goddard and Neuman are similar -- alleging they were part of a Hollywood sex ring, giving Egan alcohol and drugs and sexually assaulted him at the Encino estate and in Hawaii.
