According to sources, Joseph Gordon-Levitt absolutely will be appearing in "Justice League" as the new Batman.Well, he's been looking buff lately (remember his stripper opener in SNL?) and to be honest, it's not a bad idea. I could actually co-sign on this plan.
Now here's where things get interesting. The more insistent the drumbeat has become, the more poking around I've been doing, and it's looking like we may see Gordon-Levitt in the suit earlier than that. They're a long way from filming anything "Justice League" related, but they appear to be solidifying deals for Gordon-Levitt and, potentially, at least one other actor from the Nolan films to do… something.
What I’m told is Warner Bros are apparently jazzed with “Cloud Atlas”, and love that it’s as much a spectacle as it is a showcase for the immense ensemble involved, so it makes sense the W’s are under consideration. “Justice League” needs to be as big on character, as it does bells & whistles, and the Wachowski’s could probably offer that.They could pull it off, I mean, they gave us The Matrix.
The directing duo have also gave the studio one of their most successful film trilogies of all time, “The Matrix” trio (I won’t mention “Speed Racer”).
Quite a few reasons why WB would consider the directing duo a viable option for “Justice League”, but would Lana and Andy even consider it? Hard to say. They definitely like to work at their own speed, and definitely like to do their ‘own’ thing as opposed to being merely one ‘cog’ in a venture, so I can’t see them jumping through hoops to pull the strings on a ‘we want it done now’ large corporate statement like this. Still, exciting possibility nonetheless.
It's official, Ben isn't doing the JL movie.
“I'm not working on the Justice League. One of the problems with entertainment web sites is that they need to fill pages, and that's how rumours get started. Justice League sounds really exciting, but it's not something I'm working on.”
Today, that prospect took an interesting turn as Variety reports actor/director Ben Affleck tops the studio's list of potential helmers for the "Justice League" project. The already bankable star has been on a widely praised run behind the camera in recent years making hits out of "Gone Baby Gone" and "The Town," and he's soon to open "Argo" -- a spy story inspired by true events that features unlikely side player Jack Kirby.Can he do it? I guess we will find out as the months roll out, but it would be interesting to see his take of the DC heroes.
The studio has closed one franchise with the July 20 bow of The Dark Knight Rises, which has grossed a strong $543.5 million worldwide to date despite the Colorado shooting tragedy (though it trails by about $25 million at the same point). Warners will try to resuscitate Batman as a stand-alone franchise and/or as part of a planned Justice League ensemble that could connect to next summer's Man of Steel.Um... reboot Batman? AGAIN? No sir, that series has ran its course. It's time to focus on some of the other DC characters.
"Batman will outlive us all, and our interpretation was ours. Obviously, we consider it definitive and kind of finished. The great thing about Batman is he lives on for future generations to reinterpret, and obviously, Warners will have to decide in the future what they’re going to do with him. We’ve had our say on the character. … I’ve got no plans to do anything more, and certainly, no involvement with any Justice League project.”That's sad to hear, because they need a good director to pull something like the JL off well. Perhaps we will hear something at Comic-Con about this.
This week, the studio revealed it tapped "Gangster Squad" scribe Will Beall to revive "Justice League," which WB unplugged in 2008, and hired Michael Goldenberg (one of the many writers of "Green Lantern") to pen "Wonder Woman."The funny thing is, regardless of the number of these projects, will they be successful? The keys to Marvel's success are the writers and directors.
Those projects now join in development films based on the Flash, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Lobo, the Suicide Squad and Shazam. DC and WB are also facing a decision on how to reboot Batman once "The Dark Knight Rises" completes Christopher Nolan's take on the caped crusader, featuring Christian Bale in the cowl.

While Disney and Marvel were busy shooting "The Avengers" last year, Warner Brothers quietly began getting its own all-star superhero pic back on track, tapping "Gangster Squad" scribe Will Beall to write "Justice League," based on the WB-controlled stable of DC Comics superheroes.And, they have writers for other DC proprieties
DC Comics is a vital component of Warner Bros.' intellectual property, as "Green Lantern" scribes Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green were tapped to write "The Flash" for director Greg Berlanti, while another "Green Lantern" scribe, Michael Goldenberg, was hired to write "Wonder Woman." Additionally, Brad Peyton is working on a new draft of "Lobo," while John Kamps and David Koepp are developing "Spy vs. Spy" as a potential directing vehicle for Ron Howard. WB also developed the "Aquaman" property several years ago.The WW writer scares me because Green Lantern was a HAM, (Hot Ass Mess). And while these are good writers, they are not Joss. But, I guess we will see how this may turn out.
