The New Iron Man Is a Black Woman

Look out! There's a new Iron Man in town and her name is Riri Williams!

Riri is a 15-year-old genius who impresses Tony Stark so much that he ask her to be the new Iron Man.

TIME magazine asked Iron Man writer Brian Michael Bendis about the creation of Riri Williams:
Bendis: One of the things that stuck with me when I was working in Chicago a couple of years ago on a TV show that didn’t end up airing was the amount of chaos and violence. And this story of this brilliant, young woman whose life was marred by tragedy that could have easily ended her life—just random street violence—and went off to college was very inspiring to me. I thought that was the most modern version of a superhero or superheroine story I had ever heard. And I sat with it for awhile until I had the right character and the right place.

As we’ve been slowly and hopefully very organically adding all these new characters to the Marvel Universe, it just seemed that sort of violence inspiring a young hero to rise up and act, and using her science acumen, her natural born abilities that are still raw but so ahead of where even Tony Stark was at that age, was very exciting to me.
Cute, but I need for Marvel to get more diverse writers as well.

Captain America 3 will feature Iron Man and possibly 'Civil War'

This is HUGE

Robert Downey Jr. is set to be in Captain America 3, which could mean that the next storyline may be based on the epic comic book mini-series, Civil War.

Here's more:

The deal is significant for the Marvel cinematic universe considering the plot will pit Stark against Captain America’s alter-ego Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, as they feud over the Superhero Registration Act, which forces anyone with superhuman abilities to reveal their identities to the U.S. government and agree to act as a police force for the authorities.

Stark supports the program, but Rogers does not, saying it threatens civil liberties, causing sides to be taken and Rogers, among others, to go on the run to avoid arrest. The moral question and battle with his Avengers teammate essentially makes Stark a villain of sorts in “Captain America 3,” providing Downey with a meaty role he could play out into future Marvel films, including a fourth “Avengers.”

If this comes together, Marvel will rule the comic book movie-verse.

Ben Kingsley in talks for 'Iron Man 3' Villain

Ben is on the table to serve Iron Man villain realness. Variety reports that Ben is in talks to star in the sequel.

But the real question is what role will he play? Variety has the scoop:
Though insiders acknowledged Kingsley's involvement to Variety, Marvel declined to comment on the deal, and insiders denied that the character would be the Mandarin, a wealthy Chinese scientist and martial arts expert who, by backing the warlord who imprisoned Stark, was indirectly responsible for his creating Iron Man.

Instead, Kingsley's character is involved in the spread of a virus through nanobots, given that "Iron Man 3" is loosely based on Warren Ellis' six-issue "Extremis" comicbook series first published in 2005. That arc -- which also heavily influenced the first "Iron Man" pic -- introduced a new origin story and focused heavily on nanotechnology.
Mandarin? Maybe... We shall see.

Jon Favreau leaves Iron Man 3

Wow, Jon's not coming back to Iron Man 3.
Hero Complex has the scoop

Jon Favreau said Tuesday that he is walking away from the billion-dollar ”Iron Man” franchise and will join filmmakers Guillermo del Toro and David Fincher as part of a next wave of filmmakers making major live-action feature films rooted in the imagery of Disney theme park attractions and classic characters.

Favreau is set to direct “Magic Kingdom,” which the 44-year-old filmmaker described as a family fantasy adventure that will tap into the vintage Disney imagery that “loomed so large in the imagination” of his generation. Favreau said that Fincher (expected by many to be a strong Oscar contender for “The Social Network“) will direct the studio’s ”20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” a Jules Verne bookshelf classic that is closely associated with Disney after the landmark 1954 film and the submarine theme-park ride, and Del Toro has already been announced as director of a new “Haunted Mansion” film.

So the search begins, who will direct Iron Man 3?

When Fashion meets Comic Books...

Check it out
Tim Gunn will be featured in Marvel Comics' Models Inc.

The "Loaded Gunn" story line – to save an exhibit of extraordinary superhero clothes from a cadre of villains – is part of a book that reintroduces a group of Marvel's high-fashion "Models Inc." comic characters from the 1960s.

"It's a little `America's Next Top Model' – without Tyra (Banks) – and a little `Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,'" says Marvel editor Charlie Beckerman.

The Gunn project evolved on a whim, but it turned out Gunn was a childhood comic fan and a good sport, Beckerman says.

Gunn says the experience has been "the most bizarre thing."

"It's exciting and exhilarating, but bizarre. When they came to me, I said, `I'm about to turn 56 years old. Are they crazy?' But it kept revealing itself in layers and next thing, I'm wearing the `Iron Man' suit. I was dumbstruck."

So who will be in the Avengers movie?

Marvel Studio President, Kevin Feige has somewhat leaked the possible characters in the Avengers movie.

So far, we know that Iron Man is in it, maybe the Hulk... But who are the others?

Well here's some info from an interview with CBR

Black Widow is being introduced in “Iron Man 2” and is played by Scarlett Johansson. Will her character be a part of “The Avengers” movie or possibly be spun-off into her own feature film?

She’s signed on for all of those should we be lucky enough to have an audience that wants to see them.

Will the Hulk factor into “The Avengers” film at all?

I think so. In the comics, he has.

Would “The Incredible Hulk” star Edward Norton return for the Avengers movie?

I don’t know? We should ask him.

How large will Nick Fury’s role be in “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” and “Captain America?” You know, that remains to be seen. I think [Sam Jackson’s] gone on the record as saying that he hasn’t busted into badass action mode yet. At the end of the first one, for the people who were patient enough to wait through the end credits, they met this guy named Nick Fury. They or Tony had no idea who he was. In this movie, he opens that door a little bit more for Tony and invites him to walk through it. Tony may or may not do that in this movie. But Nick Fury is the conduit through which all the characters will connect.

So we have Cap, Tony, Thor?, Hulk? and Black Widow (ugh). But I wonder if they will bring in other faves like The Wasp, Scarlett Witch, Hawkeye or Vision.

I would love to see Wanda (Scarlett Witch) or Vision up in the mix. But we have 3 years before it's out so anything is possible.

Sam L. Jackson as Nick Fury...maybe Not!

In LA Times, Samuel L. Jackson said something quite interesting about his role as Nick Fury. During the summer, Jackson dazzled us at the end of Iron Man and Hulk, discussing the Avengers Initiative.

But now he may not be telling us about any initiative at all.

From Jackson himself: There was a huge kind of negotiation that broke down. I don't know. Maybe I won't be Nick Fury. Maybe somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won't be in it.

There seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world so [they're saying to me], 'We're not making that deal.'"
"I saw ['Iron Man' and 'Iron Man 2' director] Jon Favreau at the Scream Awards and we had a conversation. He said, 'I hope things are working out for you because we're writing stuff for you.' Then all of a sudden last week I talked to my agents and manager and things aren't really working that well."

What's going on? And if they are thinking of a new Nick Fury, who is it? This is all talk, and it could be hype, however it's slowly spreading on the nets. As more comes, I'm keep y'all posted.

2 villains in Iron Man 2?

The blogs are on fire about this news. Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell are in talks to be villains in Iron Man 2.

Rourke is in talks to be the Crimson Dynamo, the evil Russian arms dealer who also has a nuclear-powered suit of armor. And Rockwell could play Justin Hammer, a multibillionaire businessman and a rival Tony's.

As more comes, I'll keep y'all posted
