Poll: Folks Don't know a lot about Religion

Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life revealed some interesting info about America's knowledge of religion.

3,412 folks were asked 32 questions about different religions and beliefs... These are some of the results:

• Atheists and agnostics scored highest, Jews and Mormons were close, while Protestants and Catholics came in at the end.
• The top-performing groups on the survey still came out ahead even when controlling for how much schooling they had completed.
• On questions about Christianity, Mormons scored the highest, with an average of about eight correct answers out of 12, followed by white evangelicals, with an average of just over seven correct answers. 
• Jews, along with atheists and agnostics, knew the most about other faiths, such as Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Judaism.
• Less than half of Americans know that the Dalai Lama is Buddhist, and less than four in 10 know that Vishnu and Shiva are part of Hinduism.
• While a majority know that public school teachers cannot lead classes in prayer, less than a quarter know that the U.S. Supreme Court has clearly stated that teachers can read from the Bible as an example of literature.
• Forty-five percent of Roman Catholics who participated in the study didn't know that, according to church teaching, the bread and wine used in Holy Communion is not just a symbol, but becomes the body and blood of Christ.
• More than half of Protestants could not identify Martin Luther as the person who inspired the Protestant Reformation.

Rand Paul calls Obama Un-American for pressing BP on the Oil Spill

Now, he is saying that Obama is 'Un-American' for dealing with BP's mess of the oil spill

Paul's defense of the oil company came during an interview in which he tried to explain his controversial take on civil rights law, an issue that has overtaken his campaign since his victory in Tuesday's GOP primary.

"What I don't like from the president's administration is this sort of, 'I'll put my boot heel on the throat of BP,'" Rand said in an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America." "I think that sounds really un-American in his criticism of business."

Rand, just shut it up!

Apparently he's from the frat, Delta Iota Kappa, and he's going to Iraq. Maybe the war will knock some sense into him. I'm hopeful.

I think the race war may not happen

In 2050, minorities will be the majority in America according to projections in the U.S. Census Bureau. Minorities, classified as those of any race other than non-Hispanic, single-race whites, currently constitute about a third of the U.S. population, according to Census figures. But by 2042, they are projected to become the majority, making up more than half the population. By 2050, 54 percent of the population will be minorities.

Minority children are projected to reach that milestone even sooner. By 2023, the bureau said, more than half of all children will be minorities.

I'm interested in learning what states will see the "increase". With the balance slowly tipping, I wonder in the South will be a totally different place. I'm also curious to see how diverse the job market will be and if the glass ceiling notion will have much meaning. If the numbers are correct, will Affirmative Action be necessary? Will certain scholarships continue or fade out. Who knows, but I guess we will see...soon.
