Those trifling bastards! The GOP cretins are threatening to block all of the Dems initiatives, including the repeal of DADT.

They even had the nerve to send Sen. Harry Reid a letter, talking about it:

This was written by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and signed by all 42 Republicans. They are trying to push as far as can into next year.

Well, Reid received the letter and replied:

"My Republican colleagues...know that the true effect of this letter is to prevent the Senate from acting on many important issues that have bipartisan support. With this letter, they have simply put in writing the political strategy that the Republicans pursued this entire Congress: Namely, obstruct, delay action on critical matters, and then blame the Democrats for not addressing the needs of American people. Very cynical, but very obvious. Very transparent."

Let's hope the Dems can move pass this foolishness. And I hope Obama just override their mess and continue with the repeal.

Lynda Carter thinks that David. E. Kelley is 'the perfect person' for Wonder Woman

Lynda has nothing but praise for David E. Kelley working on WW. She thinks he's the right one.

"I love Wonder Woman [and] I'm just really thrilled they're doing it again," she said. "They needed to do it again. I think David E. Kelley is the perfect person to do it."

She continued: "He's great at this underlying comedy and character development. I spoke to him several weeks ago and he is perfect for it, because he will really give the characters life. It's not just going to be a cartoon or a comic book thing, which is really... what we tried to do [in the '70s]."

Carter also revealed that Kelley had asked for her own opinion on who should play the title role in the forthcoming adaptation.

"He asked me what was my opinion," she confirmed. "I get asked all the time [who should play Wonder Woman] and [David] said, 'Just tell them to be patient'."

So she has faith in him. I really hope he delivers.

The excitement just keeps on building for ABC's V. Following the awesome news that Jane Badler will be appearing as Anna's evil mother Diana comes word that Jane's original V co-star Marc Singer will also be appearing on the updated version of NBC's '80s cult fave. 

A show source tells me exclusively that Marc, who played freedom fighter Mike Donovan in the '80s version, will be playing a new character named Lars Tremont. Lars is a member of a super top secret organization comprised of high-ranking military and government leaders from around the globe, who have long suspected that the Visitors — despite what they tell us — are very much not here in peace.

I had a crush on him back in the day. It will be interesting to see what this 'Lars' character will be.

UPDATED! Civil unions pass Illinois House and the Senate

A step in the right direction! Illinois House passed Civil Unions yesterday!

After waiting years for a political climate that would generate enough support, gay-rights activists won one of their biggest fights in history Tuesday when the Illinois house voted to allow civil unions for same-sex couples.

The legislation would give those couples many of the same legal rights married couples have, especially when it comes to health care and end-of-life decisions.

Civil union supporters pointed to the eventual end of discrimination throughout history against women and minorities as a reason why gay couples should have similar legal rights that heterosexual couples do.

“There comes a time,” state Rep. Mark Beaubien, a Barrington Hills Republican, said during debate on the House floor. “And for those of you on the fence, now is the time.”
The legislation was approved by a 61-52 vote, receiving mixed reviews from suburban lawmakers. It now moves to the Senate, and a spokeswoman said it could be called for a final vote there Wednesday.

Many Republicans who opposed the plan argued that gay-rights activists wanted to use the approval of civil unions to gain momentum for the approval of gay marriage in the future.

Well, it is the next step. I hope Illinois can take it there

UPDATE: The House passed Civil Unions today 32-24.
