Interesting Quote: Morgan Johnson, president of the United Auto Workers

"I don't know what Sen. Vitter has against GM or the United Auto Workers or the entire domestic auto industry; whatever it is, whatever he thinks we've done, it's time for him to forgive us, just like Sen. Vitter has asked the citizens of Louisiana to forgive him, " said Johnson, president of Local 2166. Otherwise, it would appear he'd rather pay a prostitute than pay auto workers."

Sen. Vitter is a part of a handful of Southern Repubs opposing the auto industry bailout. He was also a part of the Washington Hooker scandal last year. I guess you can say that he would rather pay for diapers than a bailout.

Auto Bailout FAILOUT!

Since the auto bailout failed in Senate, the collapse of GM and Chrysler could come by the time we sing old lyne syne.

The failure to reach agreement on Capitol Hill raised a specter of financial collapse for General Motors and Chrysler, which say they may not be able to survive through this month.

After Senate Republicans balked at supporting a $14 billion auto rescue plan approved by the House on Wednesday, negotiators worked late into Thursday evening to broker a deal, but deadlocked over Republican demands for steep cuts in pay and benefits by the United Automobile Workers union in 2009.

The failure in Congress to provide a financial lifeline for G.M. and Chrysler was a bruising defeat for President Bush in the waning weeks of his term, and also for President-elect Barack Obama, who earlier on Thursday urged Congress to act to avoid a further loss of jobs in an already deeply debilitated economy....
G.M. and Chrysler issued statements expressing disappointment. G.M. said: We will assess all of our options to continue our restructuring and to obtain the means to weather the current economic crisis." Chrysler said it would: "continue to pursue a workable solution to help ensure the future viability of the company."

Earlier in the day, G.M. confirmed that it had legal advisors -- including Harvey R. Miller of the firm Weil Gotshal & Manges --to consider a possible bankruptcy, which the company until now has said would be cataclysmic not just for G.M. but for Chrysler and Ford as well. The rescue plan approved by the House on Wednesday by a vote of 237 to 170 would have extended $14 billion in loans to the troubled automakers and required them to submit to broad government oversight directed by a car czar to be named by Mr. Bush.

This ain't cute, y'all. Senate, go back to work!

Religion makes Folks Lose their Goddamn Minds

This is the reason why the Black Church is in danger of flat out LUNACY!

Greater Grace Temple
in Detroit wants to help out the government during the auto industry bailout. But how do they do it? Not by community outreach or fundraising, but by bringing big ass SUVs at the frakking altar!

"We have never seen as midnight an hour as we face this week," the Rev. Charles Ellis told several thousand congregants at a rousing service at Detroit's Greater Grace Temple. "This week, lives are hanging above an abyss of uncertainty as both houses of Congress decide whether to extend a helping hand."

Local car dealerships donated three hybrid SUVs to be displayed during the service, one from each of the Big Three. A Ford Escape, Chevy Tahoe from GM and a Chrysler Aspen were parked just in front of the choir and behind the pulpit.

This is...This is like reading Conan and there is some woman being sacrificed to some flower demon. If I was at that church, at that moment, it would have been the clearest of signs to get the hell out of there!
