Apple is being very silly right now. Because of the small, small gay sex pics in these two pages, Apple will not carry the popular comic book Saga on their iOS comiXology app or on iPhones or iPads.

Alex Hern of the New Statesman said: “Issue twelve of the series opens with one of the characters, Prince Robot IV, injured on a battlefield. On his TV-screen head (look, it’s a thing in the series) images of gay porn are visible, as the damage takes its toll.”

He added: “while the small visible images are certainly explicit, they’re far from erotic. They work in humorous juxtaposition to the chaos of the battleground, and underline the artificial nature of the character in question.”

Brian Vaughan released a statement saying: “Unfortunately, because of two postage stamp-sized images of gay sex, Apple is banning tomorrow’s Saga #12 from being sold through any iOS apps. This is a drag, especially because our book has featured what I would consider much more graphic imagery in the past, but there you go.

“Fiona and I could always edit the images in question, but everything we put into the book is there to advance our story, not (just) to shock or titillate, so we’re not changing shit.”

Apple needs to explain why this is a big deal. If anything, their foolishness has placed a ugly pox on their house.

Steve Jobs Has Died

Apple announced Wednesday that former Apple CEO Steve Jobs has died.

Jobs stepped down as CEO in August, saying he could no longer handle the job.

In January, Jobs, a pancreatic cancer survivor, took his second medical leave of absence in two years, raising serious questions about his health and the leadership of a company.

ABC reports:

Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple's iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes, has died, Apple said. Jobs was 56. 

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," read a statement by Apple's board of directors. "Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts." 

The homepage of Apple's website this evening switched to a full-page image of Jobs with the text, "Steve Jobs 1955-2011."

Is Apple Censoring Gay Graphic Novels

If you want to look at a Gay-themed graphic novel on your iPad, you may have to look at a bunch of blocked screens.

I just saw this on JMG and I wonder what's really going on here?

Gizmodo reports:

In the case of a graphic novel of Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, the objectionable nature of the content appears to be simply that two men were kissing.

That's after you've already told Apple that you're 17 or older. Blacking out seven consecutive panels of a graphic novel makes that novel basically unreadable.

However, in straight graphic novels, you can see a whole lot more before the censors sets in. This is a concern because there many Gay comics and graphic novels this censoring could affect. I can't help but to think about Class Comics or other gay themed comics with sexual content. Will their comics be covered in black boxes too?

This type of censoring could turn folks off from the iPad or anything Apple does. And to be real, it's insulting to see our comics or stories hidden behind black boxes, when you can see straight sex on a hood of a car in colorful and bright pixels.

New Apple: iPad

If you want a giant iPod, you are in luck.

Here is the iPad.

Steve Jobs demonstrated some of the features of the iPad, which he said included browsing the internet, playing games, listening to music and watching high-definition video. He also showed off the virtual keyboard on the machine and said Apple's iTunes music store was built into the iPad.

The iPad will come with 16, 32 or 64-gigabytes of flash memory. Jobs also said the device would have 10 hours of battery life.

It's cute, but I'll get my new LV bag first.

Steve Jobs is Stepping Down

Steve Jobs is leaving his post at Apple...here is his letter in HuffPo

Dear Apple Community,

For the first time in a decade, I'm getting to spend the holiday season with my family, rather than intensely preparing for a Macworld keynote.

Unfortunately, my decision to have Phil deliver the Macworld keynote set off another flurry of rumors about my health, with some even publishing stories of me on my deathbed.

I've decided to share something very personal with the Apple community so that we can all relax and enjoy the show tomorrow.

As many of you know, I have been losing weight throughout 2008. The reason has been a mystery to me and my doctors. A few weeks ago, I decided that getting to the root cause of this and reversing it needed to become my #1 priority.

Fortunately, after further testing, my doctors think they have found the cause--a hormone imbalance that has been "robbing" me of the proteins my body needs to be healthy. Sophisticated blood tests have confirmed this diagnosis.

The remedy for this nutritional problem is relatively simple and straightforward, and I've already begun treatment. But, just like I didn't lose this much weight and body mass in a week or a month, my doctors expect it will take me until late this Spring to regain it. I will continue as Apple's CEO during my recovery.

I have given more than my all to Apple for the past 11 years now. I will be the first one to step up and tell our Board of Directors if I can no longer continue to fulfill my duties as Apple's CEO. I hope the Apple community will support me in my recovery and know that I will always put what is best for Apple first.

So now I've said more than I wanted to say, and all that I am going to say, about this.
