I'm getting my Wisdom Teeth Removed

When I went to the dentist to follow up on getting Invisalign, I was given some interesting news... I have to remove 3, count'em 3 wisdom teeth. I mean, I knew they were there, but I didn't know this would happen now.

The dentist told me I had no choice, so I scheduled an appointment for December.

During my visit, we had "the talk" about going under, death and numbness in my mouth. I wasn't thrilled, until he said I could keep my teeth.

So hopefully, I will survive getting my wisdom teeth taken out. But I wonder if I will lose my wisdom? We'll see.

I wish you the best... I still have two that need to be removed and one is impacted which will require oral surgery.

I had all 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed when I was 17, which probably explains a lot about me. When are you having this done? I doubt you'll lose wisdom, my friend. You're too - well - wise. HUGS

Your wisdom will remain intact... Off topic... Here's a review of your girl: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/12/arts/music/12carter.html?scp=1&sq=lynda%20carter&st=cse

Glad you are doing them at the same time, I had all four done about 20 years ago.

I've been through that. Had all four extracted -- each on a different day. Ask for the Vicodin.

Hey hey, literally had mine removed yesterday. I had 3 removed in total and 2 of them were impacted, after growing for about 10 years. I had minor swelling and I had no severe pain, some general thumping as the heart starts to pump blood to the area. The worst part about all of it is waiting for the bleeding to stop. I was told that it could take 1 to 2 hours, I was waiting for about thirteen hours, before it was a slow trickle in the mouth. Another thing to wait for is the amount of SALIVA that forms in your mouth. I would say a good pool forms every 5 minutes or so.

If your bleeding continues, don't fret, I found that keeping the gauze in constantly for the first few hours works fantastic. Then like a band aide on a cut, I let the wound hit some air in my mouth for about 1 hour. That dried stuff up pretty good, then keep your mouth shut so that you pool up saliva again, and slowly tilt your head to the left and right, to get it all moistened up again.

Just make sure to keep an eye on it, don't spit out the blood or saliva. Just let all that crap flow out of your mouth and use a towel to sponge it up off your lips. I also used a Tea Bag just before bed on the lower right wisdom tooth (Which was the bleeder for me) That stopped it quite a lot, not completely, but quite a bit. If bleeding persists in a large amount for 2-3 days, make sure to phone your dentist, or go the the emergency room.

I hope this helps! XD
