Meet the CW's New Green Arrow

CW picked their new Green Arrow for the 'Arrow' series; it's Stephen Amell.

In the Warner Bros TV-produced project, described as a modern retelling of the story of DC Comics character Green Arrow, he will play the vigilante superhero who fights crime using archery, martial arts and technology under his secret identity as Oliver Queen, a wealthy playboy and billionaire industrialist-turned-outspoken politician in Star City.

So are they trying do a Dark Knight version of Green Arrow? I guess so.

Russell T. Davies has a new Gay Series Coming

Series creator Russell T. Davies has another series up his sleeve and it's a gay one.

The show, called "Cucumber," is now in development between Davies and BBC Worldwide Productions. The project was not exactly a secret, as it had been rumored for quite a while, mostly under the original working title of "MGM: More Gay Men." 

Unlike his original Showtime hit, however, these lives are not going to be about the young (and sometimes too young) and the handsome. Instead, it's going to focus more on older gay men and some of their jealousy to the types of characters that would've been found in the original "Queer As Folk.

I hope it's good. Gay men shows tend to suck, especially if I'm not on the writing team (yes, that's was a ballsy statement), but I'm sure Russell will do it justice. I hope he can do it justice.

New Web Series: "No More Down Low"

Yes! Black America Web reports that a new web series will discuss the Down Low drama and how it needs to end.
Here's some info:

"No More Down Low," a new online show launched this week, aims to portray the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community in a more holistic light and dispel myths about gay life.

Idris Elba in BBC America's LUTHER

 The sexy and powerful Idris Elba has a new show coming to BBC America. Well it's not new, new it's been on BBC One since the spring. But it will be new to us.

It's called, Luther and it's a crime drama. Here's an overview:

 A self-destructive near-genius, Luther might just be as dangerous as the depraved criminals he hunts. In each episode, the murderer’s identity is known from the start, focusing the drama on the psychological duel between predator and prey.

Luther is created and written by Neil Cross, the acclaimed suspense novelist and one of the lead writers on MI-5.  He says: "It's an intense psychological thriller which examines not only human depravity but the complex nature of love … and how it's often this – our finest attribute – that leads us into darkness."

Elba, who is also an associate producer on the mini-series, is joined by an all-star cast: Ruth WilsonThe Prisoner, Jane Eyre) is Alice Morgan, beautiful, extraordinarily intelligent and a key witness in Luther's first investigation; Steven Mackintosh (Criminal Justice) is Detective Chief Inspector Ian Reed and Luther's loyal friend and work colleague; Indira Varma (Rome) is Zoe Luther, who's had the strength to walk away from the man she still loves; Paul McGann (Withnail and I) is Mark North, unafraid to compete with Luther for Zoe's love; Saskia Reeves (Bodies) is Detective Superintendent Rose Teller, Luther's risk-taking boss and Warren Brown (Occupation) is Detective Sergeant Justin Ripley, Luther's loyal, awestruck new partner. Luther follows his own moral code as much as the rules of criminal law.  But as he becomes locked in a lethal battle of wits with Alice, his decision process becomes increasingly murky. The strain begins to tell as he’s drawn deeper into a series of horrific murders, and the shadow of a former case threatens to bring him down.  

Forced to face his own capacity for violence – he struggles with why his wife left him and what draws him to Alice.  As the stakes get higher and more personal, Luther’s lonely path pulls him towards the very edge of temptation. Is he a force for good or a man hell bent on self-destruction?

Looks tasty, I mean good. It start on October the 17th at 10pm on BBC America.

Merciful Minerva!! Wonder Woman may be Coming Back to TV !?!

WHAT? Is this real?!? This is unreal, oh my! Okay, let me calm down here. So, I 'm hearing that Wonder Woman may be back on the TV screen. This is what I read:

Wonder Woman is still heading to the screen, but instead of coming to a theater near you, the Amazon princess is returning to television.

Warner Bros. Television is developing a modern-day reboot of the classic DC comic book heroine and has lassoed an unlikely talent to potentially write and produce the superhero project: David E. Kelley, the showrunner behind legal dramas such as “Ally McBeal,” "Boston Legal" and "The Practice."

Now, WB has not confirmed this at all, so it could be a rumor. But y'all I will be watching for all of the scoop!

The Walking Dead? As a TV Series?

I'm excited and a tad bit worried, but mostly excited about this news.

My buddy, NG sent me this interesting piece of news.

One of my favorite comics, The Walking Dead, maybe the next big TV hit!
Variety reports:

AMC is venturing into zombie-drama territory with multi-hyphenate Frank Darabont.

Cabler is close to finalizing one of the richest development deals ever with Darabont to write and direct a series adaptation of the Image Comics graphic novel series "The Walking Dead," penned by Robert Kirkman. Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion are also on board to exec produce.

Project is set among a group of zombie survivors of an apocalypse who are led by a police officer, Rick Grimes, in search of a safe place to live. Numerous editions of the "Walking Dead" graphic novels have been published since 2003.

Joel Stillerman, AMC's senior veep of programming, production and original content, said the project appealed to the cabler because of "the quality of the storytelling" in Kirkman's work. The series will stay faithful to the tone of the original novels, he said.

If it's done, put it on cable; either Showtime, HBO or BBC America. It has to be done right!
