Sen. Stacey Campfield's High School wants to Remove him from their Wall of Fame

Tennessee state Sen. Stacey Campfield's an idiot. Everyone knows it, including his old high school in Vestal, NY.

In Vestal H.S., Stacey has a portrait of himself in their Wall of Fame. Well, after his homophobic statements and actions, some of the teachers don't want anything to do with him anymore. In fact, they want him removed from the Wall of Fame.

"Senator Stacey Campfield's unabashed homophobic rhetoric and his blatant ignorance regarding how AIDS is transmitted serves only to oppress, hurt, and diminish the dignity of other human beings while at the same time fueling the cause of bullies everywhere," said John Perricone, a Vestal Class of 1977 graduate who has taught at Maine-Endwell High School for 29 years.

"Displaying his picture on Vestal's Wall of Fame disgraces and tarnishes this school's reputation. We simply ask that Vestal's BOE remove his picture so that our pride in our Alma Mater can be restored," Perricone said.

As of now, the school has no plans of taking Stacey's picture down.

Meet Brian Stevens, the man who's running against Stacey "Don't Say Gay" Campbell

Tennessee has been getting a bad rap lately, mostly because of the idiot Stacey Campbell. He has been known to strongly push the anti-gay message in my home state; first through the "Don't Say Gay" Bill and then his stupid remarks about AIDS and where it came from.

But now, there's someone who's really wants to knock Stacey off his mantle. His name is Brian Stevens.

Stevens’ political platform focuses mainly on equal human rights, education, employment and environmental issues.

Minority discrimination is a serious problem all over the nation but, for various reasons, the issue is festering and growing worse in some parts of the country: Knoxville is one of them. Opposed to representing select groups of people, Stevens wants to be an ally to all minority groups and focus his campaign, political career and legislation on representing ALL the citizens of his district and state.

Stevens is constantly meeting with people to develop ideas and strategies that address Tennessee’s consistently low ranking education system. He’s particularly concerned with the rising cost of college and protecting the existing scholarship and grant programs.

Brian wants to change the negative images Tennessee has towards gays. Hopefully, he's elected to work on the mess Stacey and others have made in my home state. Also he describe himself as a social libertarian which could be very interesting down there in the South.

I am happy to hear that there's hope in my homestate. I just read on the Back2Stonewall's blog that the  Bistro at the Bijou kicked Senator Stacey Campbell out their restaurant for his homophobic actions!

Here's the story:

 Anti-Gay Tennessee Senator Stacey Campbell the force behind Tennessee’s “Don’t Say Gay” Bill got a taste of his own hateful medicine this weekend when the restaurant owner Martha Boggs of the Bistro at the Bijou in Knoxville refused to serve Campbell over his anti-gay statements and hateful agenda and told him to leave.

“I didn’t want his hate in my restaurant. I told him he wasn’t welcome here. … I feel like he’s gone from being stupid to being dangerous, and I wanted to stand up to him.”

 

Besides the Tennessee’s “Don’t Say Gay” Bill.  In recent months Campbell has asserted that bullying of gay kids “is a lark”, compared homosexuality to sex with animals, that homosexuality is “glorified” in the media, and that it’s “virtually impossible” for heterosexuals to contract AIDS and that AIDS was created by a gay man who had sex with a monkey.

There's more! The Bistro is getting a lot of support on their Facebook page and now, there's a petition to recall the hateful Senator. Way to go, Tennessee!

GOP State Senator Stacey Campfield proves that he's Stupid

In my homestate, a dark veil of shame is in the air; mostly because of this Godsend idiot State Senator Stacey Campfield.

In this interview he defends his stupidity about HIV/AIDS. It's a crime that this man is in office. Like Grad school, there should be some kind of test for folks to take in order to hold office.

In Tennessee: A New Bill can allows Parents to take Students out of GSAs

That damn Stacey Campfield, now he has introduced SB 0426, a bill that would give parents control over what extracurricular activities students are involved in. the funny part is, this is targeted towards Gay-Straight Alliances.

Here's the key piece:

(b) No school shall permit a student to become a member or participate in any activities of a club or organization if the parent or legal guardian of such student has tendered a written communication prohibiting such student from such membership or participation. In order to be valid, the written communication shall be signed and dated by the parent or legal guardian.

 And...

The distinction seems negligible. Even if students can join a club without needing permission, this would still allow parents to pull them right back out. It’s unclear, as written, whether parents would be notified of what clubs students are participating in, but regardless, the bill would make students feel much less free to explore interests or access resources they might need.

Though numerous individual school districts have tried to prevent the formation of GSAs by threatening to cancel all clubs at the school (a strategy that the ACLU successfully legally opposes each time), only one other state has taken legislative steps to try to stymie the growth of the clubs. Utah passed Student Clubs Amendments in 2007 designed to create numerous obstacles to forming clubs, but GSAs are thriving there nonetheless, with now more than 32 statewide.

What is Stacey's issue with us? I can't believe he is  making such a big deal about this. Does he want our students to feel and supported? What gives?

Tennesseans Rally against the "Don't Say Gay' Bill

The 'Don't Say Gay' Bill has fired up some Tennesseans to take action. Over 70 people rallied against the bill, hoping to drum up more support to stop it.

Thursday's half-hour rally was held a few feet away from the Oak Ridge Turnpike in front of the Civic Center and across the street from Oak Ridge High School. Teachers, students, parents, clergy, and community leaders gave short speeches and held signs with slogans such as "Stand on the Side of Love" and "It's okay to say gay."

Passing motorists showed their support by honking or giving thumbs-up signals.

"Gay doesn't mean bad," said Alesha Hicks, an Oak Ridge High School senior and GSA president. She said Campfield's legislation would tell children that bullying because of sexual orientation is OK.

Those who spoke at the rally, organized by the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church and the GSA at ORHS and Karns High School, said gay students have to endure ignorance, intolerance, and regular name-calling -- and they sometimes live in fear of brutality.

There are more rallies planned. Maybe this will spread throughout my home state.

More foolishness from my home state

Tennessee's State Rep and Idiot, Stacey Campfield introduces "Don't Say Gay" Bill

A friend let me know there were some foolishness going on in my home state of Tennessee. Apparently, there are some folks who want to ban the word "gay" from schools.

Now when I heard this, I laughed because I thought, 'who would think of such a thing?'. Then it hit me that it's Tennessee and I knew it was possible. I mean, I love my home state, but I also know there's some weeds in our rose garden.

So I surfed the nets and found out what was happening...They're trying to start a "Don't Say Gay" bill in the schools.

This fool, State Rep. Stacey Campfield filled this mess before and failed, but he's trying again. Stacey wants this bill to prevent public elementary and middle school teachers from providing info about any type of sexual orientation, only heterosexuality should be the ideal identity. He believes that homosexuality will confuse and cause unsettled emotions in children.

Now this infringes on free speech, but I don't think Stacey is aware of that. However, he's well known in Tennessee for his malarkey.

He once introduce a bill that required death certificates for aborted fetuses. He's also created a "Baby Daddy" bill,which would allow a mechanism for paternity be disestablished in the event that a conclusive DNA test proves a previously assumed parent is not the biological father.

But he is elected, so somebody thought he was doing something good.
