Mormon Group believes LDS Anti-Gay Policy led to 32 Suicidal Deaths

Since the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced their stupid anti-gay policy, over 30 LGBT Mormon youth have committed suicide.

Now, if you don't know about LDS' policy, it's the worst. It labels people in same-sex marriages as apostates and they will not allow their children to be baptized. Many believe this policy possibly led to the death of these young people.

Wendy Montgomery, a co-founder of the Mama Dragons, a group of Mormon mothers with gay children, reported last week that she had been told 32 young LGBT Mormons have died by suicide since early November.

The individual families who told Montgomery about their losses requested privacy. The Deseret News has not been able to verify this number independently.

Given the tragedy of suicide and the alarm the report has raised in the LDS LGBT community, the Deseret News asked experts for insight and solutions. They explained exactly how parents, friends and religious congregations can help prevent suicides by thinking carefully about what they say and do and by welcoming, accepting and supporting LGBT people.

Later, the senior LDS leaders released this statement.

"Every soul is precious to God and to the church and the loss of life to suicide is heartbreaking," an LDS church spokesman, Dale Jones, said. "Those who are attracted to others of the same sex face particular challenges and pressures in this regard, both inside and outside the church. We mourn with their families and friends when they feel life no longer offers hope. Each congregation should welcome everyone. Leaders and members are taught to follow the example of Jesus Christ and to reach out in an active, caring way to all, especially to youth who feel estranged or isolated. The church has repeatedly stated that those who feel same-sex attraction and yet choose to live the commandments of God can live fulfilling lives as worthy members of the church. We want all to enjoy the blessings and safety offered by embracing the teachings of Jesus Christ and living the principles of His gospel."

Mormon Church reaches out to Gays

The Mormon Church has a new website geared toward LGBT Mormons. Their goal is to keep gay Mormons in the church.

The site is called MormonsAndGays.org, and as a reminder, it let us know that being gay isn't a sin, but acting on it is.

The Advocate reports:

It offers a series of videos by LGBT Mormons, their family members, and church leaders and encourages recognition of everyone’s common humanity.

“When people have those [same-sex] desires and attractions our attitude is, ‘stay with us,’” Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles says in a video on the site. “I think that’s what God is saying: stay with me. And I think that’s what we want to say in the church: Stay with us, and let’s work together in friendship and commonality and brotherhood and sisterhood.”

Many LGBT activists support this... I can't co-sign on this yet.

John Weed. Mormon, Father, Marriage and Gay?

Okay, this is, um, new? I think?

My partner sent me this interesting blog post of Josh Weed a couple of days ago. Then, this was brought up during Netroots Nation.

Josh is a loving husband, Mormon, father and openly gay... Yes, I said gay. But don't take it from me, take it from him.

When I say I am gay or homosexual or same-sex attracted (and I use these terms interchangeably, which is a personal decision) I refer specifically to sexual orientation. I am sexually attracted to men. I am not sexually attracted to women. It is very simple. I have many, many years of experience which confirm this to be true, but it’s really as simple as what a girl asked me* in junior high—and I’m sorry if this is a little blunt, but I’ve never found a question that cuts to the heart of the matter more effectively— “so, if everyone in this room took off their clothes, would you be turned on by the girls or the guys?” My answer, which I didn’t say out loud, was unquestionably the guys. And it was unquestionably not the girls. And that still is my answer. It’s really not very complicated. Most people just don’t think about their sexual orientation because they don’t have any reason to.

*Why did a girl ask me that question in junior high? Because a bully actively spread a rumor around the entire school that I was a “woman trapped in a man’s body.” This was unbelievably horrific and traumatizing, and I was harassed every single day about it, often by perfect strangers. I was more effeminate, played the violin, didn’t play sports, was never interested in girls and didn’t hang out with guys, and so people glommed onto that rumor and ruthlessly harassed me for the entire year, culminating in a yearbook filled with breathtakingly insensitive taunts. Being the gay kid is really, really hard in junior high. If you know a gay kid in junior high, give them a hug and tell them you love them. I assure you they could use it.

 This is how it works for him and his wife.

The truth is, what people are really asking with the above question is “how can you be gay if your primary sex partner is a girl?” I didn’t fully understand the answer to this question until I was doing research on sexuality in grad school even though I had been happily married for almost five years at that point. I knew that I was gay, and I also knew that sex with my wife was enjoyable. But I didn’t understand how that was happening. Here is the basic reality that I actually think many people could use a lesson in: sex is about more than just visual attraction and lust and it is about more than just passion and infatuation. I won’t get into the boring details of the research here, but basically when sex is done right, at its deepest level it is about intimacy. It is about one human being connecting with another human being they love. 

It is a beautiful physical manifestation of two people being connected in a truly vulnerable, intimate manner because they love each other profoundly. It is bodies connecting and souls connecting. It is beautiful and rich and fulfilling and spiritual and amazing. Many people never get to this point in their sex lives because it requires incredible communication, trust, vulnerability, and connection. And Lolly and I have had that from day one, mostly because we weren’t distracted by the powerful chemicals of infatuation and obsession that usually bring a couple together (which dwindle dramatically after the first few years of marriage anyway). 

So, in a weird way, the circumstances of our marriage allowed us to build a sexual relationship that is based on everything partners should want in their sex-life: intimacy, communication, genuine love and affection. This has resulted in us having a better sex life than most people I personally know. Most of whom are straight. Go fig.

Well, that's something. They are truly challenging the norm and their religious practices. And the most of all, they are happy.

Mormons Softens Language On Gays Folks

This is interesting, it seems that Mormons (the ones who led a war on Gays and Gay Marriage) has loosen up their hateration on us:

The book, known as the Church Handbook of Instructions, lays out Mormon policies on everything from baptism to running a worship service to counseling troubled marriages.

The updated reference book, scheduled to be presented to thousands of Mormon leaders in a giant televised training session Saturday (Nov. 13), will set the tone for church interactions for years to come.

The new handbook makes a clear distinction between same-sex orientation and behavior. It eliminates the suggestion, mentioned in a 2006 edition, that same-sex relationships "distort loving relationships" and that gays should repent of their "homosexual thoughts or feelings."

It also says that celibate gay Mormons who are "worthy and qualified in every other way" should be allowed to have "callings," or church assignments, and to participate fully in temple rituals.

The handbook simply repeats what top LDS leaders have been trying to say, but in more explicit terms that many members will understand, said David Pruden, president of Evergreen International, a support group that helps gay Mormons live by church standards.

Well, that good and all, but I still don't trust them.

Somebody Tried to set the Mormon Temple on Fire!

This is interesting... LA Times has reported at someone tried to burn up the Mormon Temple in Westwood (one of my favorite areas in L.A.)

Los Angeles police Wednesday released video footage of a suspect caught on tape in May as he allegedly tried to set fire to a temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The suspect, carrying a backpack of combustible material and a thermos cup, walked onto church property at 10777 Santa Monica Blvd. on May 17 and tried to enter a locked door, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The man was unable to get inside the Westwood temple. Three hours later, a suspicious fire broke out in the church's garden area, according to the LAPD.

The video footage shows a man with a backpack walking up to a door at the temple. The LAPD did not say how it obtained the footage or how it was shot. The suspect appeared to be in his late 20s, police said, and was wearing a red T-shirt and blue jeans.

I wonder who this man is?

The Mormons supported a gay protection bill, for reals.

Leaders from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons) announced Tuesday they support a gay protections bill unanimously approved by the Salt Lake City Council, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

“The church supports these ordinances because they are fair and reasonable and do not do violence to the institution of marriage,” spokesman Michael Otterson said before city leaders voted on the measured.

The legislation introduced by Mayor Ralph Becker makes it illegal to discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity (transgender protections) in the areas of employment and housing.

Are they trying to go Heaven for their Prop 8 hate?

For some reason, they want to see his financial records, all emails, correspondence, faxes, all Californians Against Hate info and his drawls. However, that's funny considering these hell whores won't show their records at all.

But have no fear, Fred has folks coming to help and support him. NOM is only making it easier to bring them down. I believe, if they want Fred's info, then NOM needs to release theirs. If they have nothing to hide, then let us see. Be real, NOM. Who's giving you money?

Mormon church almost spent $200K on Prop 8

So Godlike...The Mormons spent more than they reported for Prop 8. At first, they claimed that they spent less than $2,500 on the campaign.

Well, they lied. They were exposed by Fred Karger, from of Californians Against Hate. He filed his complaint with the FPPC claiming the Mormon church created commercials, Web sites, conducted simulcasts and meetings to California supporters without filing any more financial reports.

The Mormon church said they didn't go over the 'legal' amount. But once the truth was released, we learned they spent close to 200K.

The report, filed with the secretary of state's office, listed a variety of California travel expenses for high-ranking members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and included $20,575 for use of facilities and equipment at the church's Salt Lake City headquarters and a $96,849 charge for "compensated staff time" for church employees who worked on matters pertaining to Prop. 8.

Up until Friday, the Mormon church had denied any direct financial support for the campaign beyond a reported $2,078 spent for bringing church Elder L. Whitney Clayton to California.

Church officials complained that Karger's complaint was full of errors and that the church had "fully complied" with California law.

The report filed Friday contained few details about how the money was spent. It did list $26,000 for audio-visual production and travel expenses for a number of Mormon leaders other than Clayton.

I guess, they did what they had to do to protect marriage...including sinning. Got to love those religious types.

Did the Mormons break Laws to pass Prop 8

A news site called, American News Project created an clip discussing how far did the Mormons go in securing Prop 8.

We know the money raised in support of Prop 8 played a huge part in its success. And the Mormon church has said time and time again they only contribute just a few thousand dollars on the 'Yes' campaign. They claimed not to be the full force behind it, but if you look at the websites and some media, their names are all over it.

As they continue to play innocent, American News Project has revealed some interesting info that could lead to the possible truth of the Mormon church's role.

The Not So Good Stuff in the LGBT World 2008

This year was interesting year to say the least. We saw good stuff and bad stuff, then there were things we couldn't done without. So to follow with other 2008 lists, I've put together a list of some not so good stuff in our world.

• Fall of the Icons. Very rarely our divas put out CDs around the same time, but when they do I expect the competition to be on. But it wasn't, it was uber-off. Mariah, Janet, and Moo-donna put out their CDs and you could tell it was all about the money. I was deeply hurt with Janet, I expected so much as the failures of the Damita Jo and 20 Y.O. However, this CD was just rehashed mess from All for You. Mariah was suppose to ride on the success of Mimi, but that MC2 just equaled muck. Moo-donna's CD was more of a Ghost Town DJs CD minus My Boo.
  

• The continuation of The Lair and Dante's Cove. These shows are mistakes in the gay horror/supernatural world. I hate to think there are powerful ideas floating in limbo, while these "shows" continue to plague the screen. Both series are jokes with hot bodies and no substance. They are embarrassments to the gay geeks.

• Prop 8. We lost and because of poor planning we are still screaming, blaming, and lallygagging with no set plans or goals. Hopefully, this will change soon.

• Racism. After the lost of Prop 8, we witnessed hidden racial tension. Also we had a few speakers for the minority communities who views were mistaken for the overall communities' views. These speakers were given the limelight to spat off their opinions which didn't help anything at all.
  

• Rise of assaults. This year we lost a lot of family due to violence and ignorance. A transsexual was murdered in Memphis, a man was beaten to death in New York on the belief he was gay, 3 gay men were killed in New Orleans, then a gay teen was killed in his dorm room by a guy who just wanted to say he murdered someone.
  

• Rick Warren. This man is like Magneto. While some of us are upset, others are ready to hunt this man down. He stirred up so much stuff he's beyond human, he's like a virus. I'm sure this was the last thing he wanted when he got the call from White House.

• The Mormons. We didn't see them coming. They were the thieves in the night, raising tons of money to halt our marriage rights. It's so hard for me to look my favorite Donny & Marie performances the same way since Nov. 4th.

• Bitterness & Bitchy. I've noticed that the gays in power seemed to be bitchy and almost evil. I remember reading some of Perez Hilton's stuff about outing stars. Would he had wanted someone to out him when he wasn't ready? No! So why would he do the same? Here's more on this topic that is dead on. It sad to see gay power beset by such bitterness and mess.

• Katy Perry made bank from her fauxmosexual song, I Kissed a Girl. It was insulting.

• ManHunt's Repub love. Johnathon Crowley, co-owner of the gay hook-up site, ManHunt donated money to McCain's campaign. The fallout lead to his resignation, but it didn't hurt the business.

• Hiding in Hip Hop: Terrance Dean's book of debauchery. I wrote a lot about this book and its purpose to out major stars and R&B artists for the sake of might dollar. This book was not what it seemed, nor anything worth buying. It was actually a slap in the face to the LGBT community.

So there's my list.
