Warner Bros. reveals DC COMICS Film Slate

And, in a massive expansion of the Studio’s DC Entertainment-branded content, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema will release a slate of at least 10 movies—as well as stand-alone Batman and Superman films—from 2016 through 2020 that expands this prized universe of characters:

o “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” directed by Zack Snyder (2016)
o “Suicide Squad,” directed by David Ayer (2016)
o “Wonder Woman,” starring Gal Gadot (2017)
o “Justice League Part One,” directed by Zack Snyder, with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams reprising their roles (2017)
o “The Flash,” starring Ezra Miller (2018)
o “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa (2018)
o “Shazam” (2019)
o “Justice League Part Two,” directed by Zack Snyder (2019)
o “Cyborg,” starring Ray Fisher (2020)
o “Green Lantern” (2020)

DC Comics’ Constantine pilot sold to NBC

Warner Bros. TV and DC Comics sold a new pilot to NBC yesterday.

The supernatural and bi-sexual detective John Constantine may be coming to our TV screens. It was written and executive produced by Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer.

The series will be called, Constantine, hopefully different than the movie version in the early 2000s. But I have to wonder, will clash with Grimm? They somewhat touch on the same subject matter.

And will Johnny be bi?

Warner Bros and J.K. Rowling are creating a ‘Harry Potter’-Inspired Film Series

J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. are teaming together to tell more stories from the Harry Potter universe. They have announced an "expanded creative partnership" that will start a new film series.

It's starts with the Harry Potter tie-in book, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The film will follow a character named, Newt Scamander, who came before Harry. We will see some new folks and a young Albus Dumbledore. From the press release, J.K. said:

It all started when Warner Bros. came to me with the suggestion of turning Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them into a film. I thought it was a fun idea, but the idea of seeing Newt Scamander, the supposed author of Fantastic Beasts, realized by another writer was difficult. Having lived for so long in my fictional universe, I feel very protective of it and I already knew a lot about Newt. As hard-core Harry Potter fans will know, I liked him so much that I even married his grandson, Rolf, to one of my favorite characters from the Harry Potter series, Luna Lovegood. 

As I considered Warners’ proposal, an idea took shape that I couldn’t dislodge. That is how I ended up pitching my own idea for a film to Warner Bros.

7 Reasons why WB is dicking around on a Wonder Woman movie

Real Talk... WB/DC Entertainment is screwing over Wonder Woman big time! It just seems that they don't have a handle on her and making up tired excuses to keep her off the screen.

It's frustrating that they can't get this together. But to shed some light into my rant, I will provide some evidence to my case.

1. DC changed her completely in the New 52. Unlike Bats or Supes, Diana gets a whole new make over, making her more warrior and less likable.
2. WB handed Wonder Woman to David E. Kelley, a writer that had no idea how to write her. And the result was a failed pilot.
3. WB executives keeps claiming WW is a strange bird. They are always using that excuse, making it hard to get Diana on the screen.
4.  They are willing make a Flash film before hers. Really, WB? The Flash? Who's beating down the door to see that superhero?
5. And continuing on with that notion, WB is willing reboot Batman... for the 5th time. The 5th time! Can we get at least one shot for Diana?
6. WB has shot down a few plans for WW films and TV series over the years. Did you know there were 3 TV ideas for a WW series? All of them were very different incarnations. 
7.  WB can't find a top director or writer for WW. They go out of their way for Bats and Supes, but for Diana, they would probably give the project to an intern.

Those are just a few reasons. If I continue, I'll get upset.

Facepalm Moment: Warner Bros plans to Reboot or Resuscitate Batman

This is what happens when money takes over and common sense is questioned. Today, I learned that Warner Bros. are thinking about DC Comics films in an interesting manner.

The studio has closed one franchise with the July 20 bow of The Dark Knight Rises, which has grossed a strong $543.5 million worldwide to date despite the Colorado shooting tragedy (though it trails by about $25 million at the same point). Warners will try to resuscitate Batman as a stand-alone franchise and/or as part of a planned Justice League ensemble that could connect to next summer's Man of Steel.

Um... reboot Batman? AGAIN? No sir, that series has ran its course. It's time to focus on some of the other DC characters.

Look at Marvel, we got Thor, Iron Man, the Hulk and Cap first and then we moved on over to The Avengers. Why reboot a successful series in hopes to draw attention to the Justice League film?

Who's over at WB right now and are they talking to DC Entertainment? This just sounds reactive and subjected to poor planning.

This is what you need to do, WB:

• Focus on the Man of Steel, maybe throw in a cameo in a respectful way.
• Work on a Wonder Woman film (She's one of the big 3, remember?)
• Design a reason why they are being brought together (take out your Avengers Kicked Our Asses notes and start sticky taping certain points)
• Find the RIGHT writers, directors and producers.
• And get this show on the ballroom floor!

See, I planned this and did it in 10 minutes. I know Warners won't listen to me, but I hope they reconsider their plan.

Look Out for a Bunch of DC Comics' Superheroes Films heading to the Screen

WB and DC Entertainment have announced their plans to release tons of DC Comics movies in the near future.

This week, the studio revealed it tapped "Gangster Squad" scribe Will Beall to revive "Justice League," which WB unplugged in 2008, and hired Michael Goldenberg (one of the many writers of "Green Lantern") to pen "Wonder Woman." 

Those projects now join in development films based on the Flash, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Lobo, the Suicide Squad and Shazam. DC and WB are also facing a decision on how to reboot Batman once "The Dark Knight Rises" completes Christopher Nolan's take on the caped crusader, featuring Christian Bale in the cowl. 

Studio is figuring out whether to bring back Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern in a sequel to last year's actioner or relaunch the character in a completely new way.

The funny thing is, regardless of the number of these projects, will they be successful? The keys to Marvel's success are the writers and directors.

Can WB and DC Entertainment be consistent in finding the winning combinations? That remains to be seen. So far, I'm concerned.

Justice League, Wonder Woman now have Screenwriters

Well, I knew WB was doing something. Since The Avengers has made history and kicked major movie ass this summer, WB/DC Comics are coming with their big movie news.

While Disney and Marvel were busy shooting "The Avengers" last year, Warner Brothers quietly began getting its own all-star superhero pic back on track, tapping "Gangster Squad" scribe Will Beall to write "Justice League," based on the WB-controlled stable of DC Comics superheroes.

 And, they have writers for other DC proprieties

 DC Comics is a vital component of Warner Bros.' intellectual property, as "Green Lantern" scribes Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green were tapped to write "The Flash" for director Greg Berlanti, while another "Green Lantern" scribe, Michael Goldenberg, was hired to write "Wonder Woman." Additionally, Brad Peyton is working on a new draft of "Lobo," while John Kamps and David Koepp are developing "Spy vs. Spy" as a potential directing vehicle for Ron Howard. WB also developed the "Aquaman" property several years ago.

The WW writer scares me because Green Lantern was a HAM, (Hot Ass Mess). And while these are good writers, they are not Joss. But, I guess we will see how this may turn out.
