According to USATODAY, this heifer still has some clout.

Two-thirds of Republicans want Palin, the party's vice presidential nominee in 2008, to be "a major national political figure" in the future. Three-fourths of Democrats hope she won't be.

The findings underscore how polarized opinions of Palin were even before Friday's surprise announcement. Seven in 10 polled say their views weren't affected by her decision. Among those whose opinions shifted, Democrats by a 4-1 ratio and independents by 2-to-1 view her less favorably. Republicans are somewhat inclined to see her more favorably.

Good lord, can't she be stopped?

GOProud? What in Hera's name is a GOProud?

Fed up with the Log Cabin Repubs, a few folks left the flawed group to form another one...GOProud!

Why? Because the Log Cabin Repubs are too liberal. Really? That's news to me.

As a 527 group, GOProud is a nonprofit that will work to educate people on public policy issues or the merits of candidates running for political office. Jimmy LaSalvia, a former Log Cabin policy director, will be GOProud's executive director, while Chris Barron, a former Log Cabin political director, will serve as the board chair. Bruce Carroll, a blogger at GayPatriot.net, will serve as a director and a board member, LaSalvia said.

GOProud will be different from Log Cabin, LaSalvia said, in that the new group will focus entirely on federal issues and elections. "Gay Republicans don't have a strong voice in Washington on federal issues and that's where the void is,” he said. “There hasn’t been a voice for … gay conservatives for the last five months, really, in Washington. And so as that time has lapsed, that was when we made the assessment and determined the need for an organization in Washington and put the pieces in place to make that happen.”

LaSalvia also said there will be policy differences between Log Cabin and GOProud, with the new group planning to weigh in more on economic issues before Congress, such as how tax policy affects gay Americans.

“It’ll certainly be done from a gay perspective, but we will work on issues beyond hate crimes, [the Employment Non-Discrimination Act] and some of the other standard gay rights legislation,” he said.

LaSalvia said GOProud will work to combat Congress and the Obama administration’s push for higher taxes. The group also will advocate for the repeal of the estate tax, which he said hits “our families at higher proportion” than other American families.

Interesting, right? We will see how this version of the Log Cabin Repubs last. Perhaps they will remember that they are gay and our issues are theirs as well.

Identity Crisis

The Repubs are having a time trying to figure out their next step. Instead of going up, they've been running around in circles. Mostly because of Moose Mess and the civil war she kinda caused.

One side believes she killing the McCain machine, others believe she represent the core base, and others believe that core base is the dirty secret Repubs want to move away from. That secret is the group of evangelicals, joe dumb-packs, and misinformed. While they serve a purpose during election time, they are quickly shunned once things are over. Almost like that one night stand you liked for an hour and then you're done.

But with all of this mess, the new question should be: Who are the Repubs? Are they the new reformed folks McCain talks about? Are they the common man that Palin represents, or are they still the Reagan Repubs hidden somewhere just waiting for the right time to return.

Moose Mess has created something in the GOP party. She is the example of the stereotypical GOP. However, that's a scary thing. That base is, what I believe, the broken part of our country. That base represents the fear of change, ignorance, and foolishness. While the GOP are happy to have an energized base, they fear the curse that Bush brought on them may continue.

So I wonder, will the GOP figure out their group in time? Will they embrace the Palin variant of the Repubs or will they wipe her out like a stain after the election is over?

Several McCain advisers have suggested to CNN they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin “going rogue” recently, while a Palin associate says she is simply trying to “bust free”.

For example: labeling robo calls “irritating,” even as the campaign was defending the use of them and telling reporters she disagreed with the campaigns controversial decision to pull out of Michigan.

A second McCain source tells CNN that, “She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone. She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else. Also she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: divas trust only unto themselves as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom.”

Woo, spicy right? Well, we will see how "rogue" Moose Mess gets as the election closes.

Here's the news: Feds arrested former Assemblyman George Chris Ortloff for child pornography and soliciting charges. Ortloff was arrested in a motel room during a sting operation formed by state police and U.S. Marshals .

He actually arranged a "meeting" with two underage girls over the nets. When he was busted, the fuzz found child pornography, a camera, and "sex paraphernalia" on him. The fuzz confiscated his work computer at his office at the Coldwell Banker.

The US Attorney’s office says since June, Ortloff made almost daily computer contact with girls he though were 11 and 12 years old.

It turns out it was part of a State Police sting to catch the sex offenders who Ortloff called for tougher punishments against during his 20 years as a state assemblyman and whom, as a member of the state Parole Board, he heard argue for their freedom.

State Police served five different warrants on Ortloff’s Plattsburgh home, his offices in Lake Placid and Albany, his car and hotel room.

In a statement, the state Parole Board says that Ortloff has been temporarily relieved of his duties and that his status as a board member is under review.

Pride IS a Deadly Sin

The fallout continues in the White House and on Wall Street. The Bailout Bill didn't pass even with the help of Mighty McCain swooping to help.

The package, which was backed by both the Democratic and Republican congressional leadership as well as President Bush, failed in the House by a vote of 228-205.

A majority of Democrats voted for the bill. A majority of Republicans voted against it. The Republican vote was more than 2-1 against the bill.

And what's worst is the fact that the GOP is blaming Pelosi for something she said.

House Minority Leader John Boehner said, "I think that we need to renew our efforts to find a solution that Congress can support. I do believe that we could have gotten there today had it not been for this partisan speech that the speaker gave on the floor of the House."

But what she said wasn't that serious and it shouldn't be that serious when it comes to protecting the country.

This is what she said: "the cost of the bailout is a number that is staggering, but tells us only the costs of the Bush administration's failed economic policies -- policies built on budgetary recklessness, on an anything-goes mentality, with no regulation, no supervision and no discipline in the system."

Really? Like I said, not that serious. But they want to blame her for its failure. If that's case, then those GOP folks are fools and reckless even with their dirty trophy, McCain "leading" them. It's just plan, foolishness.

Scientists Reveal the Make-up of Repubs

Gawker and Newsweek has enlighten me with some interesting info. I've thought there were 2 types of voters, as well as, 2 types of people; well this helped a little.

Conservatives Are Scared A Lot

Rice University Political Scientist John Alford published some research in the creatively named journal Science about a possible biological basis to liberalism and conservatism. Basically, "46 mostly white Midwesterners who self-identified as having strong political beliefs" were shown "threatening images" ("a large spider on someone's face, a bloodied person and maggot-filled wound"). The conservatives were more scared, of all of the images. Or, as Newsweek puts it, "illegal immigrants may = spiders = gay marriages = maggot-filled wounds = abortion rights = bloodied faces. " Liberals were not sensitive to the scary images. Which means they're biologically inferior, because they'd die if a gay spider tried to abort their faces to death. Notable problems with this study: small sample, also wtf this doesn't explain anything.

Conservatives Refuse to Believe "Facts"

The most upsetting and alarming research? Probably Brendan Nyhan and Jason Reifler's backfire effect study. In that, the political scientists took two groups of volunteers and gave them the Bush administration's prewar claims that Iraq was a threat and had weapons of mass destruction.

One group was given a refutation — the comprehensive 2004 Duelfer report that concluded that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction before the United States invaded in 2003. Thirty-four percent of conservatives told only about the Bush administration's claims thought Iraq had hidden or destroyed its weapons before the U.S. invasion, but 64 percent of conservatives who heard both claim and refutation thought that Iraq really did have the weapons. The refutation, in other words, made the misinformation worse.

This "backfire" effect only worked on conservatives. Even when they varied the source of the refutations, it made no difference—corrections from the New York Times and Fox News both caused conservatives to believe the lies even harder. In other words, objective truth is dead, observable reality is a fairy tale, etc.

Conservatives Have An Entirely Different Moral Code

This should bring you down, a little bit. Jonathan Haidt, a psychologist, wrote a lengthy anthropological investigation into why people vote for Republicans. It's not the Thomas Frank "they are distracted by bullshit" explanation, though it is related: they have different cultural standards of ethics and morality! Liberals and college students define morality as "how we treat each other," conservatives attach more significance to "supporting essential institutions, and living in a sanctified and noble way." Liberals recognize fairness and care as important moral virtues, conservatives add to that loyalty, respect for authority, and duty. The educated moral relativism worldview is fundamentally incompatible with the way like 50% of America thinks, and stereotypes about out-of-touch elitist coastal democrats are basically correct. Sigh.

So What Have We Learned?

Conservatives respond instinctually, not rationally, to scary images, "facts," and institutions. Whether this is innate and biological or cultural seems still up in the air. Democrats can't with with logical arguments or even appeals to the innate rightness of concepts like "diversity" and "tolerance," because those aren't considered essentially good and important by the voters they're trying to appeal to. This does suggest that an appeal to old New Deal institutional concepts like the Welfare State might actually be effective, if they're wrapped in the flag and a sense of duty. Also scientists still consider the majority of Americans to be like a fascinating exotic backwards tribe and the fucking country is doomed.

What did I learn?

Education is key. Reading is Fundamental. And Elitists are cool.

"They said she didn't seek earmarks, but now we know she hired a lobbyist to get millions in pork for her town and her state. They said she visited Iraq, but today we learned that she only stopped at the border. Americans are starting to wonder, is there anything the McCain campaign isn't lying about?"

This quote should be Obama's campaign message. And it should be a message for the country as well. This Straight Talk Express is a straight lie, McCain has gone over to the darkside and people for some reason, are glad about it.

Who are you people? Who are you to applaud this mess of lies and deceit. McCain, what has happen to you? After being smeared yourself, you have to be aware of your actions and this crap you are pulling. Are you willing to cheat us and yourself to win this election?

The supporters are really making me laugh. They pride themselves on morals and values, but support McCain's actions that are riddled with lies and smears. I ask again, who are you people?

Yep, People want Change

Thousands of protesters attacked delegates, smashed windows, threw bottles and flatten tires during anti-war rally at the RNC.

The trouble happened not far from the Xcel Energy Center convention site, and many of those involved in the more violent protest were clad in black and identified themselves to reporters as anarchists. They wrought havoc by damaging property and setting at least one fire. Most of the trouble was in pockets of a neighborhood near downtown, several blocks from where the convention was taking place.

Police estimates of the crowd shifted several times during the event, ranging from 2,000 to 10,000. The crowd was clearly in the thousands. Late Monday afternoon, long after the antiwar marchers had dispersed, police requested and got 150 Minnesota National Guard soldiers to help control splinter groups near downtown.

Well, if that's the reaction to McCain's camp, then Obama's a sure-in.

So McCain picks Gov. Sarah Palin as his Veep.
Sarah Palin? Who is she?
Well she's...well, not a powerful woman but she's something.

Sarah Palin is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and takes part in two of the state's popular pastimes -- fishing and hunting, according to her biography on the governor's Web site. Palin has focused on energy and natural resources policy during her short stint in office, and she is known for her support of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
And her career stuff is this: Television sports reporter, 1987-89; co-owner, commercial fishing operation, 1988-2007; owner, snow machine, watercraft and all-terrain vehicle business, 1994-97; chairwoman, Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, 2003-2004.

Not much, but she's pro-life and a christian. But seriously, where did he find her? This former beauty queen is not as skilled or aware of the nation. Her experience is lacking and she a unknown outside of Alaska.

McCain's hope of reaching women voters may have fallen short. She represents the woman of the past. Rice would have been the super choice, but this woman? Please, she just another christian soccer mom who runs a state that's darker before dawn. Plus, who you want a Veep, who could be Prez with no experience? She HAS NONE!

McCain, honey, not a good choice. Oh, and she currently under investigation in her own state...shady, shade.
