New Book claims Sarah Palin snorted Coke and has a Black Man Fetish
Oooh Chile, the rumors are burning the city! Joe McGinniss’ hot & trashy book The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin is already leaking to the public and some of the details are quite interesting:
The book, which is said to answer such questions as “Who is she, really?” and “How did she happen?” according to a statement on the author’s website, details the former Alaskan governor’s alleged one-night stand with basketball great Glen Rice nine months before her marriage to husband Todd, reports The National Enquirer, which obtained an advanced copy of the controversial book due out Sept. 20.This should be fun as the book gets a full release next week.
McGinniss unearthed some of the details about the former U.S. vice-presidential candidate’s alleged affair with Rice in 1987 during his time living next to the Palin in Wasillia, Alaska last summer.
Rice, the former Miami Heat player, was in Anchorage for the college basketball tournament Great Alaska Shootout while Palin was working as a sports reporter for TV station KTUU at the time of the alleged hookup, the tabloid says.
McGinniss, who says he spoke with Rice, who confirmed the tryst, claims Palin had a “fetish” for black men during that time, the Enquirer says.
Rice, whose ranked eighth in NBA history with over 1,500 three-point field goals in 15-year career, could not be reached for comment Wednesday, The Miami Herald reports.
The book also details how Palin allegedly had a six-month affair with Todd’s friend and business partner Brad Hanson and how Palin and Todd experimented with cocaine use, adding that Palin was seen snorting cocaine off an overturned oil drum while snowmobiling, the tabloid reports.

Black Males are falling deep into Social and Economic Degradation,
This hurts to read. Just when I thought things were getting better for Black men, I see this info:
Ever-increasing numbers of African-American boys and men are headed "toward in an ever-deepening pit of social and economic degradation," Bob Herbert writes in a searing op-ed that should be read by every concerned citizen in the country. Herbert writes with sorrow and passion about the full-blown crisis in the black community, the continuing descent of huge numbers of black males out of our public schools and into joblessness, poverty and incarceration.
In New York City and Philadelphia the on-time graduation rate from high school for African-American males has fallen to 28%. Nationally it is under half, at 47%. Over half of black men without a high school diploma have spent time in prison by the time they are in their mid-thirties. The statistics are clear. Black men and boys are losing ground in education, jobs and most do not marry or form stable families of their own. Herbert talks about the scourge of joblessness:The astronomical jobless rates for black men in inner-city neighborhoods are both mind-boggling and heartbreaking. There are many areas where virtually no one has a legitimate job.
There's more, but I'll stop there. I know I shouldn't, but I do feel some guilt. I was lucky, my friends were lucky. That could have been us if we wasn't careful.
There has to be a way to remix this problem. They need their spirits lifted to get up, get out and do something. We are failing somewhere. Hopefully, we will figure this out soon.

Could Spidey be Black? Stan Lee weighs in
He has the acting chops and great comedic timing, however he challenges the Spidey Mythos because Donald's Black.
But is that an issue? To some, no. There are campaigns to make this a reality:
A post on Glover's website IAmDonald.com says: "I'm putting myself in the running for the Spiderman reboot. I'm actually quite interested to see how far this goes. If this happens, I'll buy each and every one of you a mini cooper."
And a post on his reported Twitterfeed MrDonaldGlover said: "@io9 wrote a post about casting a non-white #Spiderman for the reboot. some1 suggested @MrDonaldGlover. I agree with this." Minutes later was posted: "You guys are awesome! Retweet. Someone start a facebook page."
Aye-aye, potential Spidey. The Facebook page created by Michelle Vargas soon had more than 3,500 supporters.
And the issue is still growing, causing some interesting discussions out there. Even the Marvel God, Stan Lee put in his two cents.
Please listen:
We all know Spidey is white, like we know Storm is Black or African. If his race was changed, would that change everything?
I know it would be different if Storm was a Latina in the movies. To me, that character wouldn't be the Storm I know. So I'm not completely sure where I stand on this. If it's minor characters, I can see it, but major ones, I'm not so sure.

Interesting Quote: Robert M. Franklin

"As an all-male institution with the explicit mission of educating men with disciplined minds, the great challenge of this moment in history is our diversity of sexual orientation. Why don't we use this opportunity to model something our community needs?"
"Straight men, should learn more about the outlooks and contributions of gay men. Read a book by a gay author. Have an intelligent conversation with a gay neighbor. At a time when it was truly scandalous to have homosexual friends or associates, Dr. King looked to Bayard Rustin, a black gay man, as a trusted adviser.
And, Malcolm X regarded James Baldwin, a black gay man, as a brilliant chronicler of the black experience. To my straight brothers, diversity at Morehouse is an opportunity that can enrich your education if you are courageous enough to seize the opportunity. We cannot force you, but we invite you to learn from your environment."
From Franklin's speech, "The Soul of Morehouse and the Future of the Mystique"

Interesting Quote: Michael Lucas

"I would love to use more [black men], but unfortunately, Black models are not that open to appearing in adult gay films. It of course has a lot to do with the rampant homophobia in the African-American community, and models are just scared of being in productions."
Ok, I don't think that's true, however he does stick to his word. Michael is one of the few who uses a lot Black and Latino men in his 'films'

Southern Brothers are unaware of Risky Behaviors

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continues to break my heart with this news.
Young black gay and bisexual men from the South are infected with HIV at staggering and high numbers.
In a small survey, we learn more than half of the 29 gay or bisexual men surveyed have had unprotected anal sex in the year before they were infected. The sad part is they thought they would never be infected.
The health officials are scrambling to find the risk factors to develop education and intervention programs. Here are the deeper details:
The agencies surveyed 29 black men ages 17 to 25 who had tested positive for H.I.V. between 2006 and 2008 and who reported having sex with other men. Twenty reported having unprotected anal intercourse with a man during the year before their positive H.I.V. tests, and 16 reported having male sex partners who were 26 or older.
Having older sex partners increases the risk of infection because older men are more likely than younger men to be infected.
Only three of the 29 men thought it likely they would acquire H.I.V. during their lifetime. More than half thought it unlikely or very unlikely, the survey found.
Health officials were particularly concerned about the lack of routine H.I.V. testing in this group of young men. Six of the men had not had a single H.I.V. test in the two years prior to testing positive, and five had had only one test in the two years before the positive result, the survey found.
“These men may have taken what they believed were reasonable steps to reduce their risk, but unfortunately the rates of H.I.V. infection are so high in this population that sometimes people have partners who are H.I.V. positive and do not know it,” said Richard Wolitski, director of the C.D.C.’s division of H.I.V./AIDS Prevention.Brothers please wrap it up and get tested. Also start loving yourselves...please.

Interesting Quote: Ken Blackwell one of 3 Blacks in the GOP

"The answer is that I've never had to make the choice because I've never had the urge to be other than a heterosexual, but if in fact I had the urge to be something else I could have in fact suppressed that urge."
His response when asked, when did he chose to become straight.

Check Your Prostate, Guys

Kevin C. Heslin is an assistant professor at Charles Drew University and researcher. Recently he discovered that gay and bisexual black men are less likely to be tested for prostate cancer than any other men of any racial and ethnic groups...and that's regardless of their sexual orientation.
19,410 men participated by phone in the California Health Interview Survey. The research revealed that gay and bisexual black men who received the PSA test was 12% to 14% lower than heterosexual blacks and 15% to 28% lower than gay and bisexual whites.
"Gay and bisexual black men had the lowest use of the PSA test, compared with every other group of men in the study," Heslin said. "For blacks, being a member of both racial and sexual minority groups represents a kind of double jeopardy when it comes to getting PSA testing."
The findings are significant because black men are more likely to be diagnosed late with prostate cancer and, as a result, are more likely to die from the disease than any other racial or ethnic group.
This isn't good. We need to get on this, brothers (all races). We need to stick around a lot longer than expected.

Thank Hera for Small Favors

The bane of the Black man's existence, known as 50cent, is feeling the heat of the Obama age.
MTV did an odd thing; they dropped a stupid show, but not any stupid show, 50 cent's stupid show. His “The Money and the Power” pimp mess was dropped. Apparently somebody told them 50cent has no power anymore and Black men want to be more than fake Gs.
“Our new shows will feature themes of affirmation and accomplishment,” says Brian Graden, president of entertainment at MTV Networks music channels and president of Logo. “Our shows are going to focus less on loud and silly hooks and more on young people proving themselves. These are themes that are consistent with the Obama generation.”
Really? That remains to be seen, but I applaud them for setting standard. It's time for the Theo Huxtables to rise up. Thank you, MTV.
P.S. I HATE that pic!

It's Time to End the Down Low Foolisness

Most of you know that I abhor anything involving the DL (Down Low) or any celebration/profit from that nonsense. The DL mark has stained the Black gay community and labeled us as irresponsible and dangerous people. And highlighting it for books and shows only push the image deeper into folks' heads.
Now with the alarming numbers of HIV cases in the Black community, the DL foolishness has to stop. I'm not saying the DL is the sole cause of the increase, but it play a very strong part of it. As Black gay men we need to look closely at our community, we need to deal with this issue head on. We need to challenge our DL brothers to be safe at all cost.
I would like for them to come out, but I know that's a tricky issue. Yet, I think it's time to change that belief. Usually the DL aspect is beset by low-esteem, fears, and uncertainty. If we encourage them to step out, most of the negative thinking could curve. I know when I came out, my attitude changed for the better. My spirit grew and my self-awareness became whole. I realized that the DL mess was a cage of misery. If I was going to live a full life, I had to be free.
I know that was my experience and all of our stories are different. But still, I think we all can benefit if we could denounce the DL as an option. Black men should want more and demand more. What good is it to be with someone who is not embracing their true selves. And why would we settle for less? It time to step up and leave that cage. It time to live free and live safe.

Rick Ross is a FAKE, LIAR, and a BIG OLE MESS

Rick Ross is a FAKE! For some reason, he wants to be known as a drug dealing fool, however it seems he never was. The Smoking Gun and Stereohyped found out that he used to be a Florida prison guard. Ross tried to deny it, but TSG confirmed it.
This shows the ignorance and stupidity of these fake hustlers. But it also shows the reasons why Black men are in crisis. In order to be successful in the rap game, he's willing to sell himself as a drug dealer rather than a guy with a honest job. It's disgusting, foolish, weak, and filled with malarkey.
What Ross is doing is so wrong on many points. He continuing the stereotype of Black men, selling his soul for a profit, lying to himself and us, thinking drug selling is the golden ticket, and making a fool of himself. Being a drug dealer doesn't make you a man or someone important. And lying about it makes you look lower than low. I think it's time to put rap on strike until conditions improve.
