Opponents in the Prop 8 Case: “There should not have been a trial.”

Already scared and in fear of a lost, the opponents in the Prop 8 case believe there were no reason for a trial.
They say Judge Vaughn R. Walker, the chief judge of the Federal District Court in San Francisco, made a serious mistake by calling for a trial in a challenge to California’s ban on same-sex marriage rather than deciding the case based on paper submissions.
“To think that somehow the rules of evidence can lead you to the right answer is just not right,” said Jordan W. Lorence, a lawyer with Alliance Defense Fund and a member of the trial team for the people and groups who intervened to defend the ban after state officials would not. “There should not have been a trial.”
Theodore B. Olson, who was solicitor general for President George W. Bush and now represents the plaintiffs challenging the ban, said he had a theory about the new objections.
“They’ve got to complain about something,” Mr. Olson said. “They think they’re going to lose.”
Very interesting. I wonder if the tables were turned, would the opponents feel the same way?

Bishop Harry Jackson: Takes a Lickin', still keep Hatin'

After losing AGAIN, Harry Jackson and the buffoons at Alliance Defense Fund are trying overturn D.C.'s Board of Elections and Ethics' decision granting gay marriage.
Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund filed suit Wednesday against the District of Columbia Board of Elections and Ethics for precluding the right of citizens in the district to vote for or against the definition of marriage. The board determined Tuesday that a citizen initiative that would allow voters to either uphold or reject the longstanding definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman is not a proper subject for the ballot because of a law passed by the D.C. Council. ADF and Stand4MarriageDC attorneys argue that the board’s reasoning is invalid.Oh please, get over yourselves. If you want to stand for marriage, fix the divorce rate!
“The people of D.C. have a right to vote on the definition of marriage,” said ADF Senior Legal Counsel Austin R. Nimocks.
“The D.C. Charter guarantees the people the right to vote, and the council cannot amend the charter for any reason, much less to deny citizens the right to vote. ADF will defend the right of the residents of our nation’s capitol to participate in a legitimate democratic process in the district.”
“The people of the district have the same right as the D.C. Council to propose legislation in on any subject not related to appropriations,” said Cleta Mitchell, counsel to Stand4MarriageDC.com, the proponents of the Marriage Initiative of 2009.
“The council cannot legally erect additional barriers to the people’s exercise of that right. The D.C. courts have upheld that principle in prior cases, and we are confident that we are on solid legal ground in arguing that the denial of this petition is unlawful and must be reversed by the court.”

Day 3 of The Trial of the Century: Will and Grace Freed the Gays!
This gem is from Alliance Defense Fund's Attorney Thompson:
YOU ALL HAVE BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN AND IT EVEN GOT AWARDS--- GAY DISCRIMINATION IS OVER Thompson, the smug attorney for the Proponents of Prop 8, is taking the position that gays are not being discriminated against any more and so that cannot be the reason that Prop 8 passed.
He makes a point and then asks Professor Chauncey if that is correct. He’s mentioning Will and Grace, the movie Philadelphia, and Brokeback mountain as evidence that LGBT people are not being discriminated against.
Saying something like that is almost as silly as saying we (Black folks) aren't being discriminated against because we have 'The Color Purple' and 'Moesha'

Bishop Harry Jackson teams with the malefic Alliance Defense Fund to cause Foolishness in D.C.

Why, why are they wasting time and money? Dirty Harry Jackson and the Legion of Doom are trying to stop the recognition of gay marriage in D.C. by filing a lawsuit to force his silly referendum.
This is coming from the other day when the election board blocked Harry's proposal because it would violate the city's human rights law.
Harry said:
"We are not going to sit by and allow an unelected board of bureaucrats to deny voters their rightful say on this issue and, by their action, allow the institution of marriage and the entire structure of our society to be radically redefined. We will continue to fight for the people of the District of Columbia who want their voice to be heard in this important issue."
Where are these people Harry? Anywho legal experts believe that it's say it's unlikely that Congress will side with Harry and his fools, but you never know. However, I'm hopeful...I really want Bishop Harry and others realize how this crosses the line between personal battles and the true purpose of the church. It's disgusting and I hope he falls flat on his face.

Free (HATE) Speech in a L.A. Community College

Student Jonathan Lopez has filed a lawsuit against a L.A. community college for violating his free speech.
Jonathan said that in the middle of his speech defining of marriage along with reciting a few bible verses, Professor John Matteson stopped him in mid-speech and lashed out at him.
He said that the professor called him a "fascist bastard" and wouldn't let him continue.
Lopez is seeking financial damages and trying to dismiss a code at Los Angeles City College forbidding students from making statements deemed "offensive." Then the leeches of the earth, Alliance Defense Fund comes rolling in. I have dealt with them before...their cause is quite bogus. David J. Hacker, an attorney for the leeches said:
"He was expressing his faith during an open-ended assignment, but when the professor disagreed with some minor things he mentioned, the professor shut him down. Basically, colleges and universities should give Christian students the same rights to free expression as other students."
Oh please, however two students have stepped forward and said they were offended by the speech, in fact one of them said "this student should have to pay some price for preaching hate in the classroom."
This lawsuit is foolish, but I hope the school won't back down.
