In Kentucky: A Church stands against Interracial Couples

Lord, I just talked about the foolishness within churches the other day and now this. A church in Eastern Kentucky are no fans of interracial marriage:
The issue came up at the Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church, said Dean Harville, a longtime member who serves as church secretary and clerk. Attendance is usually around 40 people for a Sunday service at the church in the Johns Creek area, Harville said.

Harville said his daughter Stella Harville, who is pursuing a master's degree in optical engineering at a school in Indiana, brought her fiancé, Ticha Chikuni, to church in June and played the piano as he sang.
The couple performed I Surrender All, said Stella Harville, who is 24. Chikuni, 29, who works at Georgetown College, is black. He is a native of Zimbabwe.

Stella Harville grew up in the church and was baptized there, but she is not a member, Dean Harville said. Dean Harville said Melvin Thompson, who had been pastor for many years, told him in August that his daughter and her fiancé couldn't sing at the church again. Thompson stepped down as pastor in August, citing health issues, but he refused Harville's requests to drop the issue, Harville said.

The new pastor, Stacy Stepp, said the couple could sing at the church if they wanted, Harville said.
In early November, Thompson proposed the church go on record saying that while all people were welcome to attend public worship services there, the church did not condone interracial marriage, according to a copy of the recommendation supplied by the Harvilles.

The proposal also said "parties of such marriages will not be received as members, nor will they be used in worship services" or other church functions, with the exception of funerals. The recommendation "is not intended to judge the salvation of anyone, but is intended to promote greater unity among the church body and the community we serve," the copy supplied to the Herald-Leader read.
This is too much... I hope they realize how un-God like this is.

Hot Rumor! Christopher Meloni may join the cast of True Blood

One of the sexiest men on Earth may be on one of the sexiest shows on TV. Christopher may be on True Blood next season!

Here's the scoop:
TVLine has learned exclusively that the former Law & Order: SVU front man is circling what my sources are calling a “major role” in the show’s upcoming fifth season.

But what role? An HBO rep declined to comment, but I hear Meloni — who’s currently shooting a top-secret role in The Man of Steel — is in talks to play (duh) an incredibly powerful vampire.

If a deal comes to pass, this would be a major casting coup for True Blood. It would also mark a high-profile return to the small screen for Meloni following his sudden departure from SVU last spring.
This could be nutritious and delicious! I'll keep you posted.

FOX 25 Basically Attacks English Teacher over Porn Star Past

For some reason, FOX 25 in Boston needed to call out English teacher, Kevin Hogan over his porn star past. Kevin hasn't been charged for anything, accused of anything or done anything. So what was the point? Child, I couldn't tell you. But here is more info on this:
The school released a statement saying “We value the health and safety of our students,” and that "the school followed our normal hiring practices," which included criminal background checks in Massachusetts and California, where Hogan had been living.

Mystic Valley also said "the references we received were flawless,” and noted he was placed there by the recruiting firm Carney, Sandoe & Associates. Hogan even has a testimonial on the firm's website, where he writes, "It's amazing with your help I was able to find a school that I never thought existed."

Mystic Valley Charter School sent an e-mail to parents and staff today stressing the school’s insistence that any applicant for a position be candid and forthright about disclosing past employment positions.

This is silly! He hasn't done anything! and let's be real. Why is this really an issue? FOX 25 News needs to checked on their reasoning and purpose for this 'attack'

Tracy Morgan tells T.I. to 'Shut Up', T.I. stands by his Words

Foolishness is running amok! This weekend, news broke out about T.I.'s stance on Tracy Morgan's homophobic rant. Well. Tracy wasn't feeling T.I.'s response:
"Tracy wishes T.I. would just shut up," a friend of the "30 Rock" actor tells me. "It has not only picked the scab off a very ugly wound, it has also put Tracy in a very difficult position. Does he issue a statement distancing himself from T.I. or does he say nothing?"

However, T.I. wasn't done. On TMZ, T.I. had more to say

R.I.P. Ken Russell and Thank You for 'Tommy'

Ken Russell took music, sex and imagery to the next level. He was a true visionary and trailblazer in the arts.

But what I love him for is directing 'Tommy'! Tommy is The Who's classic rock opera. It was so innovative for its time. It was filled with talented stars and musicians. When I first saw this movie, I was hooked and obsessed. Especially by these particular scenes and performances

Eric Clapton

Tina Turner

Ann Margret

Thank you, Ken. You gave me so much from this flick.

So What does the Iowa GOP’ers think of the GOP Candidates?

In a focus group in Iowa, the GOP folks had these things to say about the candidates.
  • Rick Perry and Herman Cain “are toast in Iowa” – none of the evangelicals in the room had positive thoughts about either.
  • Cain’s campaign is nose-diving here because he’s “shallow” and “incompetent.”
  • These evangelicals like what Newt Gingrich is saying, but they still don’t trust him yet.
  • One reason they’re reconsidering Rick Santorum is his position on the value of life even when the child is conceived in rape or incest.
  • Their biggest concern with Ron Paul is about his foreign policy, but also his call for state’s rights on handling social issues.
  • They don’t care who U.S. Rep. Steve King endorses, or who the Christian advocacy group Family Leader endorses.
So it ain't all about Newt yet. I still think Ron Paul will win Iowa.

Nigeria Senate approves a Strong Anti-Gay Bill

Wow! I'm lost for words about this. In Nigeria, their Senate voted to criminalize everything gay and I mean EVERYTHING:
The bill, now much more wide-ranging than its initial draft, must be passed by Nigeria’s House of Representatives and signed by President Goodluck Jonathan before becoming law. However, public opinion and lawmakers’ calls Tuesday for even harsher penalties show the widespread support for the measure in the deeply religious nation.

“Such elements in society should be killed,” said Sen. Baba-Ahmed Yusuf Datti of the opposition party Congress for Progressive Change, drawing some murmurs of support from the gallery.
Gay sex has been banned in Nigeria, a nation of more than 160 million people, since colonial rule by the British. Gays and lesbians face open discrimination and abuse in a country divided by Christians and Muslims who almost uniformly oppose homosexuality. In the areas in Nigeria’s north where Islamic Shariah law has been enforced for about a decade, gays and lesbians can face death by stoning.

Under the proposed law, couples who marry could face up to 14 years each in prison. Witnesses or anyone who helps couples marry could be sentenced to 10 years behind bars. That’s an increase over the bill’s initial penalties, which lawmakers proposed during a debate Tuesday televised live from the National Assembly in Nigeria’s capital Abuja.
And there's more:
Other additions to the bill include making it illegal to register gay clubs or organizations, as well as criminalizing the “public show of same-sex amorous relationships directly or indirectly.” Those who violate those laws would face 10-year imprisonment as well.
I feel for our fam over there. Stay strong, y'all.

In Indiana: A Mother is Suing the School for her Son's Suicide

The mother of a bullied victim filed a lawsuit in federal court against Hamilton Southeastern Schools for not stopping attacks and harassment of her son, Jamarcus Bell. Jamarcus was bullied and harassed so much that he took his own life.  The mother, Natalie Moore, feels that the school could have prevented this.
Natalie Moore alleges teachers and administrators at both HSE Junior High and HSE High School ignored reports that her son, Jamarcus Bell, suffered racially-based bullying and harassment for "perceived homosexuality and emotional disability."

According to the lawsuit, filed Nov. 21 in the U.S. District Court in Indianapolis, the African-American student was the victim of "constant and ruthless harassment and bullying from other students" who allegedly threw pieces of metal at him during a welding class, stole his shoes, his clothing, had his book bag dumped and was physically assaulted in hallways and classrooms.

Bell, who had survived an earlier attempt to hang himself at school in a janitor's closet at the junior high, ultimately ended his own life on Oct. 20, 2010, at his mother's home during fall break.
The lawsuit hinges on what Moore 's lawyers -- Delk McNally, LLP of Muncie -- say was the inaction of school officials to respond to the bullying that was taking place in the months leading up to the suicide.
This lawsuit should force the school district into creating ways to prevent bullying. This could have turned out differently if the teachers were more concerned about the students' safety.

Oooh! Herman Cain "reassessing" candidacy after Ginger White's Affair Claim

Well, this is how it going down. Cain is reassessing running for president after the affair claim:
The Herman Cain campaign is "reassessing" its strategy in the wake of a woman's claim that she and Cain had engaged in a 13-year extramarital relationship, a senior staffer to the campaign told CBS News.

The staffer made the statement following reports that Cain told supporters Tuesday morning that he is reassessing whether to remain in the Republican presidential race.

On a five-minute conference call, Cain told his senior staff that he would make a decision on staying in the race "over the next several days," according to National Review.

And the Des Moines Register reports that Cain said on the call that he needs to decide if the affair allegation creates "too much of a cloud" for him to continue his run.

"If a decision is made, different than we should plow ahead, you all will be the first to know," Cain reportedly said on the 90-person conference call.
This should be good, so I'll keep you posted.

Churches tells HIV Patients they are Cured, and they Died

This is why religion needs to be checked.  Churches in England and Scotland lied to HIV patients and they died because of it:
A pastor at the Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN), a wealthy televangelist organization with branches throughout the world, told one undercover reporter - who actually is HIV positive - that they had a 100% success rate.

"We have many people that contract HIV. All are healed," Holmes said.

Holmes even said that if symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea persist, it's a good sign that the virus is leaving the body.

"We've had people come back before saying, 'Oh, I'm not healed. The diarrhea I had when I had HIV, I've got it again'" Holmes said.

"I have to stop them and say, 'No, please, you are free.'"
One of the guys truly believed this mess:
One of the victims, Emmanuel, stopped taking his medicine a year ago after being instructed by a pastor at his church in London.
The pastor told him that once god forgave him, "the disease will definitely go."
But now Emmanuel believes he may have passed his HIV infection to his boyfriend.
"I feel guilty, if I'm the one who passed it onto him I'm feeling guilty. Yeah, very much guilty," he told Sky News.
WATCH the video

This is evil. These churches lied and manipulated these people and now, they are dead!  I hope they are arrested and sent to court!

Kansas Equality Coalition hopes to Repeal an Anti-Gay law

Kansas Equality Coalition is looking to end the silly sodomy law that besets the LGBT community. Here is more of the story:

Under Kansas law, homosexual sex is a criminal offense. But a 2003 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court says that laws that criminalize gay and lesbian relationships violate the equal protection provisions of the U.S. Constitution.

“We believe that the current statute, while ultimately unenforceable, is an affront to thousands of law-abiding gay and lesbian Kansans,” said Thomas Witt, chairman of the Kansas Equality Coalition.
For months, state repealer Dennis Taylor, who also serves as secretary of the Kansas Department of Administration, has been gathering input on laws to repeal. He is nearing completion of preparing a report for Brownback.

Neither he nor Brownback is saying yet what laws they think should be repealed, but whichever way the administration goes, the repeal initiative is bound to create fireworks.

Taylor said he has received input on repealing more than 400 laws. Some, he said, deal with controversial social issues such as the sodomy statute and recently approved legislation like the ban on smoking in indoor, public places.
I wish this group luck in their quest to end this horrid law.

Lord, Another One? An accuser claims to have had an Affair with Herman Cain

This keeps getting better and better

Her name is Ginger White (such a porn name) and this is what she had to say:
I'm not proud,” White told Russell. “I didn't want to come out with this. I did not.”

White was worried a political tsunami was headed her way. So, she decided to head it off, by confessing she was involved in a 13-year-long affair with presidential hopeful Herman Cain.

“It was pretty simple,” White said. “It wasn't complicated. I was aware that he was married. And I was also aware I was involved in a very inappropriate situation, relationship.”

Ginger White says she met Herman Cain in the late 90s in Louisville, Kentucky, when as president of the National Restaurant Association, he made a presentation. She was impressed. She says they shared drinks afterwards and he invited her back to his hotel room.

“’I'd like to see you again,’” White said Cain told her. “’You are beautiful to me, and I would love for us to continue this friendship.’”

She says in his hotel room, he pulled out a calendar and invited her to meet him in Palm Springs. She accepted, and she says the affair began.
Then Cain's lawyer put this statement out:
"This is not an accusation of harassment in the workplace -- this is not an accusation of an assault -- which are subject matters of legitimate inquiry to a political candidate. Rather, this appears to be an accusation of private, alleged consensual conduct between adults -- a subject matter which is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public. No individual, whether a private citizen, a candidate for public office or a public official, should be questioned about his or her private sexual life."
Lord, Cain, honey you're done.

It's Time for this Ad to Come to America

I'm sure y'all seen this marriage equality ad

I feel like we should have several versions of this ad here in the US. The message is clear and beautiful. I think it time for America to push an ad like this.

What do you think?

Interesting Quote: Alan Moore

"That smile is so haunting. I tried to use the cryptic nature of it to dramatic effect. We could show a picture of the character just standing there, silently, with an expression that could have been pleasant, breezy or more sinister." As well as the mask, Occupy protesters have taken up as a marrying slogan "We are the 99%"; a reference, originally, to American dissatisfaction with the richest 1% of the US population having such vast control over the country. "And when you've got a sea of V masks, I suppose it makes the protesters appear to be almost a single organism – this "99%" we hear so much about. That in itself is formidable. I can see why the protesters have taken to it."
He created 'V is for Vendetta'

Newt Gingrich gets a Boost in the GOP Playing Field

Newt the Hut receives a huge endorsement from the New Hampshire Union Leader.
"We are in critical need of the innovative, forward-looking strategy and positive leadership that Gingrich has shown he is capable of providing," The New Hampshire Union Leader said in its front-page editorial, which was as much a promotion of Gingrich as a discreet rebuke of Romney.

"We don't back candidates based on popularity polls or big-shot backers. We look for conservatives of courage and conviction who are independent-minded, grounded in their core beliefs about this nation and its people, and best equipped for the job," the editorial said.
But will this really hurt Mittens? Maybe not, he has a huge lead in NH, but it's not good for him to lose this endorsement. However, it's good for us. Everybody knows Newt can't win a national election and all this Mitt Hate just sets it up for Obama to take it all.

How Does the Salvation Army view Gays?

It's that time of the year and you will see the Salvation Army folks ringing those bells. But in recently years, the LGBT community has called out the SA for their views towards us.

Fellow blogger, Bil Browning wrote a pretty good piece on the issue and it was a hot topic on Twitter last night. However, if you don't know the story here is some info from the SA website:
The Army recognises that same-sex friendships can be enriching, Christ-honouring relationships, bringing joy through mutual companionship and sharing. However, same-sex relationships which are genitally expressed are unacceptable according to the teaching of Scripture. Attempts to establish or promote such relationships as viable alternatives to heterosexually-based family life do not conform to God’s will for society.

For this reason, and in obedience to the example of Jesus whose compassionate love was all-embracing, Salvationists seek to understand and sensitively to accept and help those of a homosexual disposition and those who express that disposition in sexual acts. Salvationists are opposed to the victimisation of persons on the grounds of sexual orientation and recognise the social and emotional stress and the loneliness borne by many who are homosexual.
The Army regards the origins of a homosexual orientation as a mystery and does not regard a homosexual disposition as blameworthy in itself or rectifiable at will. Nevertheless, while we are not responsible for what we are, we are accountable for what we do; and homosexual conduct, like heterosexual conduct, is controllable and may be morally evaluated therefore in the light of scriptural teaching.

For this reason such practices, if unrenounced, render a person ineligible for Salvation Army soldiership, in the same way that unrenounced heterosexual misconduct is a bar to soldiership. The Army recognises the strength of feeling about sexual identity, and the difficulty many find in expressing this identity in keeping with scriptural standards.

However, it believes firmly in the power of God’s grace to enable the maintenance of a lifestyle pleasing to him, including a lifestyle built upon celibacy and self-restraint for those who will not or cannot marry. No one who yields to the lordship of Christ and who undertakes by his grace to live in accordance with the teaching of Scripture is excluded from Christian fellowship and service in the Army.
Interesting stuff, eh?

George Michael Hospitalized for Pneumonia

I've seen this all over the web today. News teams and Bloggers are reporting George Michael is very sick and was hospitalized this week:

Michael was hospitalized in Vienna, Austria earlier this week. A statement from publicist Connie Filippello said the 48-year-old former Wham! singer "is responding to treatment and slowly improving."
Michael "is ill with pneumonia and any other speculation regarding his illness is unfounded and untrue," the statement said.
Two Austrian doctors treating Michael said he had "severe community acquired pneumonia," but "his condition has stabilized and he is responding to treatment." They said he needed time to regain his strength.
"From the current point of view, the time until recovery cannot be estimated, but he will not be able to perform the rest of the tour," Dr. Christoph Zielinski and Dr. Thomas Staudinger said in a statement. "Besides medical treatment, complete rest, and peace and quiet are mandatory."
Rumors are all over the place about George's health. I will try to keep y'all posted with the facts.

T.I. shares his views on Gays and Free Speech

In the new VIBE magzine, rapper T.I. had plenty to say, including some stuff about us gays:
Man, I will say this, the funniest joke I ever heard Tracy say during a stand-up was, ‘C’mon man, I think gay people are too sensitive. If you can take a dick, you can take a joke.’ [Cracks up laughing.] That shit was funny to me. And it’s kind of true.’

While T.I. makes clear that he supports anyone’s sexual preference, he then connects, in his opinion, a current oversensitivity among gay people with a consequential and ironic offense of the First Amendment. “They’re like,‘If you have an opinion against us, we’re gonna shut you down.’ ... That’s not American. If you’re gay you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you’re against it you should have the right to be against it in peace.’
I guess he's supporting the freedom to be? What do you think?

In what I think almost all Americans would call "odd," President Barack Obama delivered his weekly address with a speech entitled: “On Thanksgiving, Grateful for the Men and Women Who Defend Our Country.” In the text of his speech, he referred to Thanksgiving as a "celebration of community."
Holy cow! Is that one screwed up view or what? Somebody ought to remind Obama (and his speechwriter) that when Americans sit down around a meal today and give thanks, they give thanks to God.
Sherman and other crazy ass Christians are mad President Obama didn't say 'God' in his Turkey day speech.

And it's an interracial marriage too!
But one of America’s most well-known comics had been and will continue to tackle all of these issues—with one character. Who knew the long-running all-American Archie series could be so political and progressive?

The cover of the January 2012 edition of Life With Archie , in which Archie’s gay friend Kevin Keller gets married to his African American boyfriend, has just been released (shown above).

It will be the first gay wedding to be depicted in an Archie comic. (The plot was originally announced in September.) Readers will learn how Kevin met his fiancé, Clay Walker, in a military hospital after being wounded while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

In Arizona: Lawmakers are Raising money to build Border Fence

Instead of raising money to educate kids or to make the holidays better for those who were hit by the economy, Arizona is raising cash for a fence... A border fence.
The idea came from state Sen. Steve Smith, a Republican who says that people from across the nation have donated about $255,000 to the project since July, when the state launched a fundraising website that urges visitors to "show the world the resolve and the can-do spirit of the American people."

Smith acknowledges he has a long way to go to make the fence a reality. The $255,000 collected will barely cover a half mile of fencing. Smith estimates that the total supplies alone will cost $34 million, or about $426,000 a mile. Much of the work is expected to be done by prisoners at 50 cents an hour.
The gag is this idea, is not popular:
Critics of the private fence plan say the idea is a misguided, piecemeal approach to border issues that will prove to be ineffective and hugely expensive. They point to the billions of dollars spent by the federal government to build fencing that hasn't stopped illegal immigration.
When will Arizona learn?

The UC Davis Cop has a Checkered Past

Lt. John Pike is the name of the cop who pepper sprayed the students at UC Davis. And since this pic hit the news, John's past is coming out:
He has twice been honored by the university for exceptional police work, including a 2006 incident in which he tackled a scissor-wielding hospital patient who was threatening fellow officers. Afterward, he said he decided against using pepper spray because it might harm his colleagues or other hospital patients.
But an alleged anti-gay slur by Pike also figured in a racial and sexual discrimination lawsuit a former police officer filed against the department, which ended in a $240,000 settlement in 2008. Officer Calvin Chang's 2003 discrimination complaint against the university's police chief and the UC Board of Regents alleged he was systematically marginalized as the result of anti-gay and racist attitudes on the force, and he specifically claimed Pike described him using a profane anti-gay epithet.
The activist group Anonymous have posted  John's personal info on their site and his pic above is being used for blogs and T-shirts.

Right now, John is on paid leave from his duties.

Interesting Quote: Axel Alonso

"If you check our record, Elflore, I think you'll see our commitment to diversity is apparent across the line, and has been for some time. Black Panther has anchored a monthly title on and off for the past 8 years, and is certain to be back in the mix in 2012, Luke Cage has been a central character in [Brian] Bendis' Avengers, and Shang Chi's role in "Spider-Island" is a taste of things to come -- and those are just three characters off the top of my head.

It's not like we've stopped trying, either. Besides Miles Morales in the Ultimate Universe, we've introduced a wide variety of multicultural characters in the Marvel Universe: the super-powered bounty hunter team, the Zapata Brothers, from "Moon Knight" and "Deadpool Team-Up"; Reptil from "Avengers Academy"; Coldmoon and Dragonfire from "Point One"; Raizo Todo from "Fear Itself: Hulk"; and "Battle Scar's" Sergeant Marcus Johnson, who is a character you'll definitely want to keep your eye on -- I mean, eyes. Also, Striker just came out of the closet in "Avengers Academy," and Wiccan and Hulkling continue to play a huge role in "Young Avengers/Avengers: Children's Crusade." I feel like I'm just getting started."

Axel speaks on the diversity within the 616 Marvel universe
