Interesting Quote: Schwarzenegger

"Well, Governor Sanford says that he does not want to take the federal stimulus package money. And I'll say to him, I'll take it. I'm more than happy to take his money or any other governor in this country that doesn't want to take this money. I'll take it, because we in California need it. I think it's a terrific package. I think if you ask a thousand people for their opinion, what is their ideal stimulus package, you will have a thousand different answers.

So everyone's is a little different. I think he's done a great job and I think California benefits tremendously from that $80 billion of tax benefits there, for around $35 billion. There are other advantages: $45 billion of money that go to transportation, to education, to health care, all those different areas. There's even some money that could benefit our revenues or, I should say, our budget itself...."

That's our Governor

New York Post calls Obama a Rabid Monkey

Either the New York Post and famed cartoonist Sean Delonas are smart, desperate for sales or just plain idiots.

Today, they ran this cartoon in the Post, causing a big stir. I guess the joke is the stimulus bill is a piece of crap because a rabid monkey wrote it. The rabid monkey applies to the tragedy of the woman being mauled by a monkey the other day.

But it also applies the race issue. Everybody knows the monkey is a racial slur towards us. I know they had to think of that before posting this mess. This is very tacky, but in these desperate times and the print business failing they did what they had to do...stoop down to the lowest of the low.

The first person to comment on this is no other than, Al Sharpton:

The cartoon in today's New York Post is troubling at best given the historic racist attacks of African-Americans as being synonymous with monkeys. One has to question whether the cartoonist is making a less than casual reference to this when in the cartoon they have police saying after shooting a chimpanzee that "Now they will have to find someone else to write the stimulus bill."

"Being that the stimulus bill has been the first legislative victory of President Barack Obama (the first African American president) and has become synonymous with him it is not a reach to wonder are they inferring that a monkey wrote the last bill?"

I feel a boycott coming on.

Give the Man what he Wants

The Polls/People are speaking about Obama's Stimulus Plan.

According to the people:

Sixty-seven percent of the American people approve of how President Obama's handling his efforts to pass an economic stimulus bill, as opposed to 48% for Democrats in Congress and 31% for congressional Republicans. In addition, the disapproval rating for Congressional Republicans remains a "staggeringly high" 58%. And the public continues to view the package as a matter of paramount concern. 51% of those polled consider the plan's passage to be "critically important," with "Only 16% say it is 'not that important.'"

Repubs need to get in order. Obama's economy tour could paint them as the Legion of Doom and could cost them support and votes. Maybe they should realize who's in charge. There's no time for playing games

Fix This Mess Now...I'm paraphrasing President Obama

Stimulus Update

Straight from HuffPo on Friday Night

The actual price tag on the Senate stimulus package will be north of $800 billion. The deal reached today will be passed as an amendment to the original bill and is roughly $780 billion. But the three amendments that have already passed this week will still be part of the law. One, a housing credit of $15,000 per buyer, is estimated to cost $19 billion. Another, a tax credit for folks who buy energy efficient cars, comes in at around $11 billion. A third, giving $6.5 billion more to the National Institutes of Health, would also be included in the total cost, which takes it to roughly $817 billion, close to the amount of the package passed by the House.

Republicans have been arguing tonight that the higher price tag means that there is, in fact, no deal -- since the deal is for the $780 billion. Democratic senators and Sens. Arlen Specter and Susan Collins said, however, that there is a deal and that the amendments will be worked out in the negotiations between the Senate and House. The NIH piece may have the best chance of survival because it was sponsored by Specter, whose vote will be needed again to pass whatever emerges from House-Senate negotiations. The assumption among Democrats, said aides, is that those amendments will be stripped out during the conference negotiations, because the crux of the compromise deal is the $780 billion package.

Now are we finally moving on?
