American Family Association: We Are Coming For All of You

I have hoped that someone besides little ole me, would attack the terrorists known as AFA. I blogged about this yesterday, wishing for something knock them out of the water.

Well, my prayers are answered.

The HRC unleashed their fury on the American Family Association's hatefulmerical, "Speechless: Silencing Christians". WOOD-TV said they will air the program on Saturday, but now the station has changed their minds. They are not airing the program!

WOOD-TV General Manager Diane Kniowski sent this announcement:

"We made a gesture of the 2-3 p.m. Saturday time period. It's been 24 hours and we had no response," Kniowski said. "Our station is being bombarded with calls and messages, and we find ourselves in the middle of someone else's fight. Ours was a fair offer and we are removing ourselves from this matter."

The HRC was on it! They encouraged their members to almost attack the station with emails and phone calls. I guess it worked.

The HRC prez, Joe Solmonese said, "I am so proud of our members who answered the lies and distortions of the AFA and stopped this campaign of hate and deception. Our community stood up and would not let those lies stand."

Good job, y'all. But get ready, I'm sure the AFA are coming back with something bigger.

These idiots are continuing their terrorist attacks by creating a controversial one-hour paid program on the "radical homosexual agenda". They are trying to get the hateful special on the air in West Michigan. The station, WOOD-TV is considering it, however folks are outraged that it could be seen.

For some, it is hate speech and it should be canceled, but backers think it is fair and important to the family survival. WOOD-TV program director Craig Cole plans to air it on Saturday at 2 pm, but had not received a decision from the sponsor.

Colette Beighley, Assistant Director of Grand Valley State University's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Center believes by airing this program will send a horrible message.

"If an organization came into Grand Rapids and wanted to air biased programming slamming the Asian community, West Michigan would send a message that that puts Asians brothers and sisters at risk. Grand Rapids wants to be a cool city and one of the cornerstones of a cool city is diversity."

And WOOD-TV general manager Diane Kniowski said:

"We don't pre-judge people's ideas or opinions. However, we have restrictions on controversial programming and key time periods. If the show airs, we will have disclaimers at the beginning and end of the show stating that these are not the opinions or views of this station."

That part is questionable. If you air this, you are sending a message that money talks and...you know the rest.
