40 Percent of Republicans wish Sarah Palin would Fade Away

This is funny.

About 54% percent of Americans are done with Moose Mess.

According to an NBC/Wall Street Journal/Annenberg poll, folks wish Sarah Palin to disappear from sight.

Then, the kicker comes from the GOP side of the poll.

40% of Republicans would like for her to fade away. Damn, what's a girl to do when a good chunk of her own party is done with her.

Oh, go Tea Party. Where you can never hold a powerful seat in office.

New Poll: More Americans Oppose DOMA

A new poll from Goodwin Simon Strategic Research and Voter Consumer Research, more folks are coming out against DOMA.

Here are some of the results:

• Americans believe DOMA is discrimination, plain and simple. Sixty-two percent of registered voters agreed that “it is discrimination for the federal government to deny marriage protections and benefits to legally married same-sex couples.”
• People can oppose Section 3 of DOMA while not necessarily supporting same-sex marriage. A number of Americans believe that DOMA is bad policy and that same-sex couples deserve equal treatment from the federal government, even if they don’t believe that their state should extend the rights of marriage to those couples.
• Notably, support for the repeal of DOMA is now stronger among people of color than it is among whites. Sixty-five percentof black people and 61 percent of Hispanic people said that they opposed Section 3 of DOMA, compared to a still high 57 percent of white people. This is a marked reversal from years prior, when polls found black and Hispanic support for the repeal of DOMA to be lower than white support.
• Americans in strong majorities believe that same-sex couples should not be denied the federal benefits and protections of marriage. More than 70 percent of respondents believe that all couples should have hospital visitation rights, survivor benefits if a spouse is killed in the line of duty, and family and medical leave.

“In 2013 registered voters have reached a tipping point, in which a majority (52 percent) favors allowing marriage for same-sex couples. However, an even larger portion—almost 6 in 10 respondents (59 percent)—oppose DOMA’s requirement that the federal government discriminate against those same-six couples who are legally married by denying their marriage’s recognition,” said Amy Simon, a partner at Goodwin Simon Strategic Research, who fielded the poll.

Polls show nothing much after President Obama's Gay Marriage announcement

In today's polls, many folks wasn't "upset" with President Obama's gay marriage endorsement. And as a plus, he got a small boost from it.

MSNBC reports

In the poll, a combined 17 percent say it makes them "much more likely" or "somewhat more likely" they will vote for him. That's compared with a combined 20 percent who say the announcement will make them more likely to vote for Mitt Romney, who opposes gay marriage.

Perhaps more importantly, 62 percent say the president's support for gay marriage doesn't make a difference in their vote -- including 75 percent of independents, 76 percent of moderates, 81 percent of African Americans, and 65 percent of residents in the Midwest.

"From my distance, it looks more like a voting draw than anything else," says Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, who conducted the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff.
In addition, the NBC/WSJ poll finds that a majority -- 54 percent -- would support a law in their state making same-sex marriage legal. Twenty four percent would actively support such a law, while 30 percent would favor it but not actively support it.

Fox News poll says Americans don't support Marriage Equality

Take this with a huge grain of salt, but check out this poll from Fox News:

A majority of voters don't support allowing gays and lesbians to marry legally, yet at the same time a majority also opposes a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

According to a Fox News poll released Wednesday, 37 percent of voters believe gays and lesbians should be allowed to get married legally. While that’s unchanged from 2010, when the question was most recently asked, it’s nearly double the 20 percent who felt that way in March 2004, the first time it was asked.

On the other hand, the poll finds 25 percent think there should be no legal recognition given to gay and lesbian relationships, down from 28 percent in 2010 and a high of 40 percent in 2004.
The remaining one third (33 percent) think same-sex couples should be allowed a legal partnership similar to but not called marriage. While that number has bounced around a bit over the years, 33 percent also favored this middle-ground position in 2004.

New Poll: Fox News Viewers know less than Folks who DON'T watch the News

Okay, that's mean... But almost true, very much so. In a new poll, Fox News viewers are less informed that folks who don't watch the news:

The poll surveyed New Jersey residents about the uprisings in Egypt and the Middle East, and where they get their news sources. The study, which controlled for demographic factors like education and partisanship, found that "people who watch Fox News are 18-points less likely to know that Egyptians overthrew their government" and "6-points less likely to know that Syrians have not yet overthrown their government" compared to those who watch no news.

Overall, 53% of all respondents knew that Egyptians successfully overthrew Hosni Mubarak and 48% knew that Syrians have yet to overthrow their government. 

Dan Cassino, a political science professor at Fairleigh Dickinson, explained in a statement, "Because of the controls for partisanship, we know these results are not just driven by Republicans or other groups being more likely to watch Fox News. Rather, the results show us that there is something about watching Fox News that leads people to do worse on these questions than those who don’t watch any news at all." 

I think most of us knew this already. Fox News viewers are a mess.

New Poll: 43% View the Tea Party as Negative Label

I'm feeling this info. New reports are showing the growing negative views about the Tea Party in this country.

Rasmussen Reports periodically asks Likely U.S. Voters to rate political labels, and the latest national telephone survey finds that 38% consider it a positive when a political candidate is described as “conservative.” That’s consistent with surveys for several years but down slightly from 42% in January. Twenty-seven percent (27%) see conservative as a negative political label, up six points from the prior survey. Thirty percent (30%) rate it somewhere in between.

“Tea Party” has suffered much worse. Considered a positive political label by 29%, 43% now think Tea Party is a negative description for a candidate. That’s a net rating of negative 14, making it the worst thing you can call a candidate. Twenty-three percent (23%) put it somewhere in between.
Last September, 32% viewed Tea Party as a positive label and 38% a negative one. That was the previous low point for the grassroots smaller government movement. But that negative finding fell to 32% in January. 

I bet you that the GOP candidates will start moving away from this title as the main campaign goes forward... Watch.

New Poll: New York is Good with Gay Marriage

New York has spoken in a latest NY1/Marist poll that covers the recent Gay Marriage law.

Here are some key findings:

• 55% of NYS adults support the legalization of same-sex marriage. 36% oppose it, and 9% are unsure.
• Similar proportions of registered voters share these views. 
• About 66% of Democratic voters support the law. A majority of Republican voters -- 52% -- oppose the law. Nearly six in ten non-enrolled voters -- 58% -- support it. 
• About 62% of New Yorkers under the age 45 back the legislation; 50% of those 45 and older do. 
• When it comes to a suit filed to overturn the law, 63% of adults statewide don’t want the law to be overturned, 32% do and 5% are unsure. 
• 72% of Democratic voters and 66% of non-enrolled voters want to keep the law. Republican voters divide: 48% of GOPers think it should be overturned; 47% disagree.
• Nearly seven in ten suburban residents -- 69% -- and about two-thirds of those upstate -- 66% -- don’t want the law overturned. 57% of NYC adults agree.
• 44% of registered voters in New York report they are more likely to vote for a state senator who voted to pass the same-sex marriage law. Three in ten are less likely to do so while 19% say it makes no difference and seven percent are unsure.
• Although 79% of New York State residents don't expect to be a guest at the same-sex marriage of a family member or friend in the next year, 70% would attend asked, including 34% who oppose the law legalizing same-sex marriage.

New Poll: Folks Ain't Feeling DOMA, or the GOP for Defending It

The HRC reveals how America views and DOMA, the GOP and a little about gay marriage.

51 percent of voters oppose DOMA while 34 percent favor it. Independent voters, who were instrumental in the Republican House takeover, oppose the law by a 52 percent to 34 percent margin. Additionally, when read statements for and against defending DOMA in court, 54 percent of voters oppose the House Republicans' intervention, while only 32 percent support it. Given a list of issues important in determining their vote for President, voters ranked the economy and jobs (54 percent), Medicare and Social Security (23 percent) and education (19 percent) as most important with only 5 percent of respondents saying marriage was most important to them. Finally, when presented with the actual benefits from which married same-sex couples are excluded, voters overwhelmingly support extending those benefits.

New Poll: Fox News is the most distrusted name in news

This ain't news, but it's great to hear. Fox News is the most distrusted name in news, according to a poll by Public Policy Polling.

The study was released on Wednesday. It is the second annual TV news trust poll PPP has conducted. The poll finds that PBS is the most trusted news outlet by a wide margin, with 50 percent of respondents saying they trust it, as opposed to 30 who don't.


Fox News is the second-most trusted network, but also the most distrusted one, with 42 percent trusting it and 46 percent not trusting it. That's as compared to the 43 percent who said they didn't trust CNN, CBS or ABC. But Fox News was one of only two networks that saw its distrust levels increase from last year's study. Last year, 37 percent of respondents said they didn't trust Fox--a nine-point difference from the 2011 poll.

PBS is the most trusted name in news.

Newsweek Poll shows that Most of the GOP are Idiots

These poor people are uber-ridic. The majority of the GOP believe that President Barack Obama "sympathizes with the goals of Islamic fundamentalists who want to impose Islamic law around the world."

A full 14 percent of Republicans said that it was "definitely true" that Obama sympathized with the fundamentalists and wanted to impose Islamic law across the globe. An additional 38 percent said that it was probably true -- bringing the total percentage of believers to 52 percent. Only 33 percent of Republicans said that the "allegation" (as Newsweek put it) was "probably not true." Seven percent said it was "definitely not true." The rest (eight percent) either didn't know the answer or didn't read the question.

And

Fifty-nine percent of Republicans, for instance, said they believed the president favored "the interests of Muslims over other groups of Americans," while only 34 percent of said he had been "generally even handed" in his approach. In contrast, nine percent of Democrats said Obama favored "the interests of Muslims over other groups of Americans" while 82 percent of Democrats said he had been even-handed.

Who are these people? I feel like these people are not real. How can anyone be so lost? Goddess, what happened to our education system? Or better yet, what happened to common sense?

CBS News Poll: Folks likes the Gays

A CBS poll found that our 'approval' has gone up.

Here are some highlights:

Seventy-seven percent of Americans now say they know someone who is gay or lesbian, a new CBS News poll finds - an increase of 35 percentage points since 1992, when a majority of Americans said they did not.

More than six in ten Americans say they have a close friend, work colleague or relative who is gay or lesbian. Just 22 percent say they do not know anyone at all who falls into that category.

The increasing visibility of gay and lesbian Americans appears to have contributed toward more positive perceptions of homosexual relations. Forty-three percent of Americans currently see homosexual relations between consenting adults as "wrong" - a drop of 19 percentage points from a Gallup poll taken in 1978.

Eight-four percent of Americans under 30 know someone who is gay or lesbian. Older Americans are less likely to know someone who is gay or lesbian: Just 66 percent of those over 65 say they do.

Fifty-one percent of Americans believe people are born homosexual - an increase of eight points from 1993. Thirty-six percent say homosexuality is something people choose. Those who know someone who is gay or lesbian are more likely to believe sexuality is something people are born with.

More than half (53 percent) believe it is necessary to have laws that protect gays and lesbians from discrimination in hiring and promotion. Forty-three percent do not. Women are more likely than men to support such protections.

I wonder if Glee and RuPaul's Drag Race did anything to help?

New Poll confirms Foolishness in the Tea Party Movement

This is such mess, but I love it.

An University of Washington Poll has some surprising or maybe not surprising results on the Teabaggers.

• 74% of Tea Party supporters say they agree with the following statement: "While equal opportunity for blacks and minorities to succeed is important, it's not really the government's job to guarantee it."

• 54% percent of respondents also said that "compared to the size of their group, lesbians and gays have too much political power."

• 88% of Tea Party supporters approve of the controversial immigration law recently enacted in Arizona.

• Only 18% of those surveyed say gay and lesbian couples should have the legal right to marry.

• 73% of Tea Party backers disapprove of President Obama's policy of engaging with Muslim countries.

Lord, these poor people. They need a slap across the head and a hug afterward.

Poll shows 100% of the GOP is STUPID

In today's foolishness, a poll shows how stupid folks can be:

President Obama is a socialist, a racist, and could possibly be the antichrist. That is what is being shown in the latest GOP poll. The Harris poll was taken during the peak of the health care debate, and surveyed over 2,000 people. Here are some scary statistics from the new GOP poll.

The Harris poll says that two thirds of Republicans

(40% of Americans) believe that President Obama is a socialist. 57% (32% overall) believe that he is a Muslim, and 45% (25% overall) believe that he was not born in this country.

The scariest statistic though, is that 24% of Republicans believe that Obama is the antichrist.

I’m not sure how accurate these numbers represent the Republican party, but one things for sure, the Republicans are not happy with President Obama signing the Health Care bill into law today.
