Whatever Happened to The "Star Wars Kid"?
Do y'all remember Star Wars Kid? If not, here's a refresher
Bless his heart... this is Ghyslain Raza and was a high school student then.
Back in 2002, Ghyslain made a video of himself doing these fighting moves. Some students found the tape and uploaded it on YouTube during it's early days. Once the video was uploaded, his classmates watched it and ridiculed him badly for it.
The pressure from that video caused Ghyslain to go into depression. He also needed psychiatric help just to cope. His family sued the classmates who posted the video and later settled out of court.
As time passed, the video became a cult hit. It was remixed, remastered and even featured on Family Guy and The Colbert Report.
But what happened to Ghyslain? Well, he bounced back. He is a law student at Montreal’s McGill University and a president of a nonprofit organization, preserving the culture and heritage of a town called, Trois-Rivières.
I'm glad he got his life back on track. Although he went through some painful times, I'm sure he is stronger and better for it. So congrats to him!
Geeks always prevail.

Geeky Tattoos
The thought of getting a tattoo has crossed my mind a few times.
However, I am amazed with these peoples' choice for tattoos.
Spider Man
Pac-Man on someone's skinny butt

Star Wars
Mario...is always about Mario

Are Geeks Elitists?

I was thinking about this question over the weekend. I think we (geeks) have the tendency to think we are above the 'common' people. I didn't want to believe it, but I think we are.
Here's why I'm feelin' what I'm feelin':
- We don't need to fit in, we think that our originality set us above the American Apparel/Ed Hardy crowd.
- We don't buy the iPhone and Blackberry for the image. We can actually use them to its full advantage.
- We look at films like Fast & Furious as long commercials, while praising flicks like Clockwork Orange as true works of art.
- We can read.
- We can read books from 1880s.
- We can see the future outside of Earth and race.
- We can look beyond someone's outer beauty...their understanding of Firefly and BSG turns us on.
- We actually keep most companies afloat or functioning.
- We are smart and strategic...and we know it.
- Most of us are silent or introverted because the folks around us are stupid. (I'm extroverted, BTW)
- We join music, honor and business fraternities. Social ones will drive us insane.
- We are pretty good heroes and villains.
- We believe that Texas is social problem that can be solved through science.
- We can almost rule the world.

The Watchmen We Never Knew

Over at Destiny Interrupted, they take some of our geekness and mixes it with erotica.
Oh, I mean gay erotica.
Please check out their site. There's erotic art including Batman, Captain America and The Joker? There's also fan fiction and more about the artists and folks behind the site.
Interesting stuff.

Is this all we got?
I tried, I really did, but Dante's Cove is a mess. A complete mess! Imagine being 16 again, and you're sexuality confused and watching Flash Gordon too many times on TBS, now mix in Cinemax After Dark, with a little bit of those silly Emmanuelle movies with Sylvia Kristel and you got this mess.
Why is this show still on? And why? I know it fun and sexy, but fun and sexy don't have to be stupid. My Goddess, I thought I was drunk watching this series. I call upon arctic winds to move this series off the air. Now, some of you may love this show, but I've read better comic books than this.
Please people, lets tell them that gay geeks actually like story lines and characters we can care about. Sexy guys serve a purpose, but when I want to see a demon, I want to see a demon not a sexy half naked man with wash board abs and horns on his head.
