In Louisiana: Family Values Congressman caught on Video Cheating on his Wife

Such a God-fearing man.

Rep. Vance McAllister has been married for 16 years, good kids, and even has the Duck Dynasty clan's support... Yeah, the perfect Republican candidate for Congress.

Well, Vance just got caught cheating on his wife with a staffer! And, it's on VIDEO!

 The video was posted to the the Ouachita Citizen's website yesterday. Later on, Vance released this statement:

There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness. I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff and my constituents who elected me to serve. Trust is something I know has to be earned whether you’re a husband, a father or a congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone I’ve disappointed. From day one, I’ve always tried to be an honest man. I ran for Congress to make a difference and not just be another politician.

I don’t want to make a political statement on this, I would just simply like to say that I’m very sorry for what I’ve done. While I realize I serve the public, I would appreciate the privacy given to my children as we get through this.”

Do Men need to Cheat?

Eric Anderson's new book, The Monogamy Gap: Men, Love, and the Reality of Cheating, claims that cheating is good for men.

Cheating, however, serves men pretty well. An undiscovered affair allows them to keep their relationship and emotional intimacy, and even if they're busted it's a lot easier than admitting that they wanted to screw someone else in the first place, he writes.


In his study of 120 undergraduate men, 78 percent of those who had a partner cheated, "even though they said that they loved and intended to stay with their partner." Contrary to what we may think, most men aren't cheating because they don't love their partner, he says; they cheat because they just want to have sex with others. And society shouldn't pooh-pooh that.

Interesting Cheating Rules Emerges

New Research has found that college students see cheating differently these days, especially when it comes to same sex cheating.

Researchers asked 718 college students to imagine being in a long-term relationship and what their reactions would be to several different cheating scenarios.

They found that overall, 50 percent of men would likely continue a relationship with a woman who had a dalliance with another woman, while 22 percent said they could forgive betrayal with another man.

For women, the results were reversed. If their boyfriend cheated with another woman, 28 percent said they'd keep him around, but only 21 percent said they would if he cheated with another man.

Published this month in the journal "Personality and Individual Differences," the study concluded the participant's reactions were based on basic jealousy instincts.

"A robust jealousy mechanism is activated in men and women by different types of cues -- those that threaten paternity in men and those that threaten abandonment in women," said Jaime Confer, the study's lead author and a PhD candidate in evolutionary psychology.

Men, they said, felt more threatened by a rival male because of paternity uncertainty, whereas they saw a female partner's homosexual affair as "an opportunity to mate with more than one woman simultaneously, satisfying men's greater desire for more partners."

So it's okay for a girl to cheat on her man if it's with another girl. Especially, if he thinks the affair could lead into a 3some. But what if it leads to her coming out as lesbian? I don't think the guys think that far in advance.

One of my political crushes has sinned. John Edwards admitted having an affair with a hideous woman. Here's what he had to say:
"In 2006, I made a serious error in judgment and conducted myself in a way that was disloyal to my family and to my core beliefs. I recognized my mistake and I told my wife that I had a liaison with another woman, and I asked for her forgiveness."

And...

"You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself. I have been stripped bare and will now work with everything I have to help my family and others who need my help."

Well, I'm glad he's not in the prez race, or this would have destroyed his campaign. But I can't imagine what this is doing to his family. His wife was going through so much with cancer and all. He should've been strong. He should've been a good husband. Jonny...What happened?
