A True Blood Bromance? Alexander Skarsgard thinks it is coming

Dangerously hot Alexander Skarsgard recently told TV Guide that we will see a connection with Bill and Eric in season 5.
Considering that Sookie swore off both Bill and Eric in the season finale, it'll be a while before we see any movement on that front. "The feelings are still there for both Eric and Bill," Alexander Skarsgard tells us. "The attraction is still there, but they're preoccupied, and so is she." Instead, look for Bill and Eric to team up while the vampire world begins to both expand and collapse in the coming season. "The guys have usually tried to kill each other and now suddenly have to learn to become friends and protect each other and work together."
This could be fun to watch. Who knows if the fighting and killing could lead to something else.

UPDATE In Nevada: Two More Transgender Protection Bills reach the desk of Gov. Sandoval

Yesterday, 2 more bills protecting Transgender peeps hit the state Nevada. The community is now waiting to see Gov. Sandoval act on them.
The Assembly on Monday passed a bill adding transgender people to the list of groups protected from discrimination in housing or rental agreements.

Lawmakers also passed a measure prohibiting discrimination against transgender people in public places such as restaurants. The bill makes an exception so bars can host gender-based promotions such as Ladies Night.

All Democrats and three Republican Assemblymen voted in favor of the two bills. They now head to Gov. Brian Sandoval.

A third bill barring employment discrimination against transgender people passed both houses and was delivered to the governor last week.
The Governor has until Wednesday or Thursday to sign or veto the bill. He needs to do the right thing and sign them into law.

UPDATE Gov. Sandoval signed Bill 211 into law.
Sandoval signed Assembly Bill 211 in a ceremony attended by transgender activists and the bill's primary sponsors, Assemblyman Paul Aizley, D-Las Vegas, and Sen. David Parks, D-Las Vegas.
Under the bill, which will go into effect Oct. 1, employers cannot discriminate against people based on their gender "identity or expression," which could be opposite of the gender they had at birth. However, employers could require appropriate workplace clothing and grooming standards.
It becomes unlawful "to fail to hire or to fire or otherwise discriminate" against transgender people.

Only employers with 15 or more employees would be subject to the law. Estimates are there are 25,000 transgender men and women in Nevada.

Texas' Anti-Sodomy Statute just won't Stay Dead!

Republicans fools are stalling the repeal of the Texas' anti-sodomy statute. It was labeled unconstitutional 8 years ago and language has been changed, but still, the Repubs are being assholes about it.

Mother Jones has the story:
A pair of identical bills that have been introduced in the Texas House would delete language from the state penal code making "deviate sexual intercourse with another individual of the same sex" a misdemeanor offense. Under the proposals, a clause in the state's health and safety code that cites the criminal statute and states that homosexuality is "not an acceptable lifestyle" would also be repealed.

That is, if the legislature's Republican supermajority ever lets the bills come to a vote.

"Their silence is deafening," says Democratic State Rep. Jessica Farrar, who sponsored one of the proposals. "It's killing us. It's just as bad as if they were vocal."
The reason why they are stalling the repeal is ridic:
State Rep. Wayne Christian, a Republican and one of the state's leading social conservative politicians, told the Austin American-Statesman last month that he likely wouldn't support the bills repealing the ban on gay sex because the House already has too much on its plate. Among other things, the legislature is debating a bill to allow college students to carry concealed firearms in lecture halls, a measure to require women to view an ultrasound before having an abortion, and legislation to prevent state courts from applying Islamic sharia law. Neither Christian nor any of the other five Republicans on the Legislature's criminal jurisprudence committee responded to Mother Jones' requests for comment.

Farrar has no illusions about the bill's chances: "The prospects don't look good."
Come on, Texas! Get it together!

In Nashville: The Anti-Discrimination Bill passes in Metro Council

My homestate is going something right! The Metro Council in Nashville (Nashvagas to some) passed a bill, making companies pledge to not discriminate against workers based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
The Metro Council approved a bill Tuesday requiring government contractors to abide by that guideline by a vote of 21-15, with three abstentions. A source of controversy in the business community, the bill drew sharp debate from council members Tuesday night.

Councilman Jamie Hollin, a sponsor of the bill, said after the vote that Metro had “sent a clear signal all around the world” that people of all kinds are welcome to work in Nashville. Advocates of gay rights agreed.

“If you’re willing to work hard, and you’re talented, you’re welcome in Nashville, Tenn.,” said Chris Sanders, chairman of the Tennessee Equality Project’s Nashville chapter.

Several council members spoke passionately against the bill. Critics on the council had so far made two arguments: that creating another protected class of employee made companies vulnerable to litigation, and that uneven policies across county lines would hamper commerce.

Councilman Phil Claiborne said more bluntly what others had hinted at previously. Claiborne said the policy told business owners with religious convictions opposing homosexuality that they had to “abandon their core beliefs” to do business with Metro.
That's a major step in Tennessee. I'm proud to hear about this! Get it, Nashville!

Wyoming House Passes Anti-Gay Marriage Bill

After trying to do this for several years, Wyoming managed to pass an anti-gay marriage bill.
House Bill 74 now heads to the Senate, where its chances for passage appear good.

State Rep. Owen Petersen, R-Mountain View, the bill's sponsor, said the legislation is needed to resolve a conflict in Wyoming law, which defines marriage as a contract "between a male and a female person" but also recognizes any valid marriage performed outside the state. Other supporters have said the bill will help to hold back government intrusion into Wyoming traditions and culture.

Opponents said the bill is unnecessary, violates the rights of gays and lesbians to marry, and would create havoc for legally married out-of-state gay couples traveling in Wyoming.

The Wyoming House has voted down similar legislation twice in recent years. But with many past opponents retiring or voted out of office in November, the bill passed the House 32-27. State Rep. Patrick Goggles, D-Ethete, was excused from voting.

Lorena will be back in True Blood season 3

Mariana Klaveno plays, Lorena, Bill's evil ex-girlfriend. We thought she was tossed out of Bill's life in season 2, but guess what... The Bitch is Back!
But don't expect to hear any confirmation from Mariana Klaveno, the talented actress who plays Lorena on the hit HBO series. All she'll say is that the naughty Lorena is indeed returning for the third season of "True Blood," set to premiere in June.

While Mariana wouldn't say whether or not Lorena is involved in the kidnapping of Vampire Bill, she did confess that she'll have plenty of screen time with Stephen Moyer this season.

"Yes, we do spend a good deal of time together in season three," she told us. "I'm hoping that the fans will be a little bit surprised by it, because there will be some new dynamics in our relationship that are new and [have to deal] with that cliffhanger."

But that doesn't necessarily mean she'll be responsible for Bill's abduction, as Mariana informed us: "I think you'll see some sides of Lorena that will surprise you. She'll be in certain situations where you think she'll do something, and she will not [do what you expect]."
I'm excited to see what Miss Girl has in store for us.

Hawaii State House approves the Civil Unions Bill

Hawaii makes it happen for the gay community. The House has passed the Civil Unions bill.
A bill approving same-sex civil unions is headed to Hawaii's governor after the state House of Representatives gave it final legislative approval Thursday.

The House voted 31-20 in favor of the measure, which passed the Senate in January.

Republican Gov. Linda Lingle has not said whether she will make civil unions law or veto the bill.

The measure grants gay and lesbian couples the same rights and benefits that the state provides to married couples.

If it becomes law, Hawaii will join California, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon and Washington in granting essentially all the rights of marriage to same-sex couples without authorizing marriage itself. Five other states permit same-sex marriage: Iowa, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

The issue was revived on the last day of this year's legislative session when House Majority Leader Blake Oshiro made a motion to reconsider it.

Good luck, Hawaii!!!

Baldwin and Polis says We are Close to Passing LGBT friendly Bills

Okay, some good Sunday news. LGBT faves, Tammy Baldwin and Jared Polis revealed some hopeful info:
Speaking at an international conference in San Francisco today, Baldwin and Polis said the House is set to pass bills to provide health coverage for the same-sex partners of gay federal workers and to protect all gay and transgender employees from job discrimination. They said they expect a domestic partner benefits bill to come up for a vote by the end of the year and the employment bill to reach the floor early in 2010.

Baldwin and Polis said they are were also confident that the House will include a provision in the military spending bill to repeal the Clinton-era "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", which prohibits LGBT people from serving in the U.S. military. Both Baldwin and Polis said all three measures may face an uphill battle following the passing of gay rights pioneer Sen. Edward Kennedy, but they remain optiimistic.

They also reminded folks to lobby Congress to speed up the process for passing DOMA, DADT and ENDA. It's a measure we need to take up in order to succeed in our battles.

DC is Clowning...30+ House Reps wants a DC DOMA

This is foolishness. Just as DC begins to recognize same-sex marriages from other places, more haters try to throw shade. This is time is from a group of Repubs and a couple of Dems.

They want a DC DOMA to define marriage between a man and a woman.
The group introduced a bill in the House on Thursday, hoping to thwart a city council vote this month recognizing same-sex marriages performed in other jurisdictions. Five states — Connecticut, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont — allow gay marriage.

Congress, which has final say over laws in the nation's capital, has until July to act against the district measure. Otherwise, it automatically becomes law. Some council members have said the legislation is the first step toward eventually allowing gay marriage in Washington.

More than 30 lawmakers have signed on as co-sponsors of the House bill, said Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio. However, all but two are Republicans, and it will be a fight to get the bill approved in a Democratic-controlled Congress and signed by President Barack Obama.

However, the dilemma is Obama. He supports civil unions and he may not want to rock the boat. So hopefully this bill will fail, especially if Obama trying to save face with us.

Still, it's disappointing to see these fools fight this hard to steal our happiness.

Is It Over? I guess it is.

The super-billion dollar deal passed. Now Bush has to sign it and I guess the world starts back up.

The measure passed by 92 votes, 263 to 171, with the plan picking up support on both sides of the tracks. So in other words, the House realized their whining didn't pay off.

But there are a bunch of added stuff to this bill that could explain the real reasons why this bill was passed.

The Diva of board (Nancy Pelosi) said this: "We were dealt a bad hand; we made the most of it."
