Officials are investigating the Ohio High School Gay Bashing

Yesterday, we were all appalled over the gay bashing at the Unioto High School in Ohio. The video found its way on Facebook and later, everywhere.

Now, investigators are looking into possible charges:
While the sheriff's office continues to investigate the motive, Ross County Prosecutor Matt Schmidt said his office is evaluating whether to file an assault or felonious assault charge.
"What people are failing to understand is there isn't an Ohio law to enhance it (if the assault was motivated by the victim's sexuality)," Schmidt said.

There is a federal hate crime law, he added, but the federal district attorney would have to file the charge, and Collins could approach him about it. He also said he has not heard from Collins or her son, but certainly is willing to listen to them if they want to talk with him. Schmidt anticipates filing the charge from his office today.
The story claims that the attacker has a mental issue:
According to the initial report obtained Thursday by the Gazette, the two boys were on their way to a third-period class when they "bumped shoulders." The 15-year-old suspect told deputies he has a mental illness, that he "just zoned out," and didn't know why he punched Collins' son, according to the report.

Collins' son sustained a black eye, a knot behind his ear, a chipped tooth and a possible concussion, Collins said.
I'm not sure about that part. I hope the investigators look into the boy's mental issues. So, there will be more to come on this story.

3 Arrests have been made for the Beating of a Gay Man in El Paso

Three men have been arrested for the beating of a gay man outside of the OP nightclub.

KVIA TV has the scoop:

Ivan Gallardo, 17, of the 900 block of S. Tays, has been charged with Aggravated Assault and booked into the El Paso County Jail on a bond of $50,000.00.

Roman Olvera, 19, of the 2200 block of Bassett, has been charged with aggravated assault and booked into the El Paso County Jail on a bond of $50,000. Police had previously detained a 16-year-old boy in the assault of 22-year-old Lionel Martinez outside of the Old Plantation (OP) nightclub. The unnamed juvenile was referred to the Juvenile Probation Department for the offense of aggravated assault.

Martinez remains in critical condition. Police have classified the assault as being gang related and "was not not committed based on bias of race, color, disability, religion, national origin or ancestry, age, gender or sexual preference," according to police officials.

Police investigators and Special Agents from the FBI continue their investigation and anticipate more arrests, police officials said. The FBI is investigating the incident as a civil rights violation.

There are 3 others left who are responsible for this senseless attack. Hopefully, they will brought in soon.

The FBI is investigating Justin Alesna's Anti-Gay Attack

I think most of you have seen the YouTube clip of Justin telling his horrible story on being attacked in a gas station. Now the Feds are involved in this case.

Alesna said he has been told FBI agents have possession of surveillance video from the gas station. Sandra Berchtold, a spokeswoman for the FBI Detroit office, confirmed Wednesday that the agency, which handles hate crimes, is investigating.

The Detroit City Council discussed the attack Tuesday, calling it an abomination. Council President Charles Pugh said he encouraged Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr. to track down the attacker.

Alesna said Detroit police asked him to make an identification during a lineup Tuesday night, but he was unable to do so. He said he was told later one of the men may have been a witness to the assault.

I'm glad to hear that Justin is getting the help that he needs. If everyone knows anything, please let the authorities know.

A Gay Man was beaten by 2 Marines over some Foolishness

In Savannah, GA, 2 dumb ass Marines, with deep insecurities, beat up a Gay man because they thought he was flirting with them. Thought is the magic word here.

Savannah Now reports:

About 3:45 a.m., a metro police officer was patrolling when he saw two men running on Congress Lane. Moments later, the officer received a call about a man at Congress and Bull streets unconscious on the ground.

The officer rushed to the intersection and found 26-year-old Kieran Daly motionless with friends performing first aid, a report stated.

The officer caught up with the two men who were running away, identified as Keil Joseph Cronauer, 22, and Christopher Charles Stanzel, 23. Police records show both men are stationed at Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, S.C.

Cronauer and Stanzel told police they were being harassed by a gay man and wanted to get away from him. But witnesses painted a different picture, according to the report.

They told police one of the men grew angry because he thought Daly was winking at him and struck Daly in the back of the head with his fist, knocking him unconscious.

Saturday night, from his bed at Memorial University Medical Center, Daly insisted he tried to convince the Marines he was not winking at them.

"The guy thought I was winking at him," Daly said. "I told him, 'I was squinting, man. ... I'm tired.'"

Daly said one of the men told him he demanded respect because he served in Iraq. And at least one hurled slurs at him as he tried to walk away.

"That's the last thing I remember is walking away," Daly said.

Daly said after his friends performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene, he was taken to Memorial University Medical Center and diagnosed with bruises to his brain. He had two seizures immediately after the attack and was expected to remain at Memorial for several days.

Meanwhile, Cronauer and Stanzel were booked into Chatham County jail on battery charges and later released to military police, according to jail and police records.

This is so ridic. I used to live in Southern Georgia and partied in Savannah every weekend. We never felt threaten or even thought something like this would happen. Those boys are fools and I hope more is done to them.

Remember Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover

Carl committed suicide on this day.

He did this because he was bullied at school and taunted of being gay.

A year later, a group has created facebook project: 5 Minutes to Remember Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover
Please spend 5 minutes in Carl's memory and CALL YOUR Representative and ask him/her to support (or thank them if they already do) the Safe Schools Improvement Act, a comprehensive federal anti-bullying bill.

FIND YOUR Congressperson here: http://bit.ly/ForCarl

MESSAGE FROM CARL'S MOTHER, Sirdeaner Walker:

One year ago Tuesday, my son Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover brought his life to an end after enduring relentless harassment and cruel bullying at school. It is difficult to put into words what it feels like to remember that terrible day. But it is not difficult at all to do something positive in Carl’s memory.

That is why I hope you will join me in taking a moment from your busy day to reflect on Carl’s life and his tragic suicide – and to remember that bullying in schools has very serious and life-threatening consequences.
Please remember Carl.
