It's official, Patty Jenkins is the new Director of Thor 2.

Here's the press release:
Marvel Studios announced today that Patty Jenkins will direct THOR 2, which will be released in theatres on Friday, November 15, 2013. My Review: Thor

I have to say that I loved Thor! It was a great comic book movie that stuck to its Marvel roots and you don't feel stupid for watching it.

But before I go off on how fine Chris Hemsworth is, I'll give you my vague review:

  • Thor's back story was done well. You got a strong understanding of his history and his power
  • This movie showcase his power straight from the comic books

  • Chris is a hottie! Okay, on a serious note, he played Thor perfectly. And my Goddess he is hot!
  • The Earth scenes were wonderful. The times Thor spent with Jane were natural and well scripted.
  • The graphics were on point.
  • If you are not a Thor person (like me) then you will enjoy this movie. This was a well told story.
  • Loki was a great complex villain.
  • The casting was perfect. I'm still impressed with Chris' performance as Thor.
  • Anthony Hopkins continues his superb acting as Odin
  • There were nice nods to Marvel Comics and a couple of characters made appearances (Hawkeye was one of them).
  • After seeing Jaimie as Lady Sif, I am convinced that she should have been Wonder Woman.
  • All the characters had a purpose in the film, unlike Iron Man 2.
  • The mix of the two worlds was tastefully done.
  • This film made me a fan of Thor.
See this movie! Oh, and stay to the very end of the film.

A Website wants folks to Boycott Thor because of a Black God

Haters are going to Hate.

A website called Boycott Thor wants everyone to avoid the film because Heimdall is Black. Their leading statement is this:

The movie comes out in the United States on May 6th. It was release this past weekend 56 foreign markets.

Tens of thousands of people in the US and Europe have pledged to boycott the movie because of it’s insulting corruption of Germanic mythology to promote a left-wing political agenda on race.
Also to help their 'argument', they talk about the ethnic make up of Cleopatra.
The “Cleopatra was a black woman” is a flimsy myth put forth by the Nation of Islam and other radical “black power” outfits. Cleopatra was a Macedonian Greek. In fact, very few sub-Saharan Africans [Negroes] lived in North Africa prior to the start of the Arab slave trade.

The fact is, we know exactly what Cleopatra looks like. Numerous depictions were made of her while she was alive. These depictions span three cultures, Roman, Egyptian, and Syrian. All depict her as very Caucasian looking.

If Elba wants to defend Marvel’s decision to cast him, that is fine. However, his argument should not be based around an easily disprovable myth.
This particular post incorrect in some ways. Cleo's racial background is very mixed, but that's another post for another time. However, this site is truly ridic. Other posts are borderline racist and crazy. I get that they are upset, but this entire site is silly.

Anywho, if you are curious about this website, check this mess out. It's interesting to see these folks get all bent up over fake gods.

Interesting Quote: Idris Elba

"It's so ridiculous. We have a man [Thor] who has a flying hammer and wears horns on his head. And yet me being an actor of African descent playing a Norse god is unbelievable? I mean, Cleopatra was played by Elizabeth Taylor, and Gandhi was played by Ben Kingsley."

Sexy, I mean, Idris talking about the uproar over him playing a Norse God

White Supremacists are Furious at Thor's "Black" Norse God

White Supremacists must be bored, because they are furious at Marvel Studios for making Heimdall a Black man.

This is from the Council of Conservative Citizens' site:
Norse mythology gets multi-cultural remake in upcoming movie titled “Thor,” Marvel studios. It’s not enough that Marvel attacks conservatives values, now mythological Gods must be re-invented with black skin.

It seems that Marvel Studios believes that white people should have nothing that is unique to themselves. An upcoming movie, based on the comic book Thor, will give the Aesir an insulting multi-cultural make-over. One of the Gods will be played by Hip Hop DJ Elba.
And to make things more silly, they want to boycott the movie. This foolish people.
