NOM's House Negroes Honor Roy Moore with a MLK Award

Bill Owens, President of CAAP

NOM's front group, Coalition of African American Pastors, has the nerve to honor Roy Moore for his ignorance stance on gay marriage in Alabama.

In fact, they want to give him some made up award inspired by MLK.

This is from their press release:

Today, the Coalition of African American Pastors (CAAP) announced that Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore would receive their first ever “Letter from Birmingham Jail Courage Award” in recognition of Justice Moore’s principled stand in defense of traditional marriage.

The group was moved to honor Chief Justice Moore following his defense of Alabama’s statutory and constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. Moore’s actions were based on the fact that the federal court does not have the power to redefine marriage in direct opposition to legal tradition and the clearly expressed will of the people. His courage and conviction persuaded CAAP that Chief Moore was the ideal honoree for the inaugural presentation of an award inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous letter.

“Chief Justice Moore is an example for all of us,” stated Rev. William Owens, President of CAAP. “By making a principled and persuasive stand for marriage, Chief Justice Moore has singled himself out as someone who is ready to defend our most cherished values and help lead this new civil rights movement. By his words and courageous actions, he has helped preserve marriage, the family, justice, and the spirit of democracy. This is what it means to be a ‘Letter from Birmingham Jail Courage Award’ recipient. We hope that his example inspires others to take similar action to defend marriage in their own communities.”

The group announced that they plan to present the Letter from Birmingham Jail Courage Award to Justice Moore in a special ceremony in April.

NOM's Brian Brown gets FAKE Degree from Discredited University

The fake group known as the Coalition of African American Pastors gave NOM's an “honorary doctorate of letters” this weekend. The degree comes from American Urban University.

But here's the cute part, American Urban University ain't even real at this point. In fact, the university’s corporation status was suspended in 1989. So basically, this degree is nothing but scrap paper. Then to top it off, Brian tweeted this pic.

Child please, if he wanted to play school, he should've bought some Fisher Price toys.

Coalition of African-American Pastors are funded by Hate Groups and Right-Wing Conservatives

The truth is spilling out of the cup about Rev. William Owens and his organization! The group of fools known as the Coalition of African-American Pastors are not who they say they are.

Today, the Washington Post, revealed some interesting ties to this mess. Here's the scoop:
Democrats.” But interviews and a review of tax documents reveal deep connections with the right:
* Owens was appointed this year as the African-American liaison for the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), a Washington-based group opposed to same-sex marriage that has endorsed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

* Frank Cannon, head of the American Principles Project, a group opposed to same-sex marriage, confirms his group’s political action fund is paying public relations firm Shirley & Banister to assist CAAP’s communications strategy.

* CAAP received loans totaling $26,000 in 2004 from the conservative Family Research Council, American Family Association and Mississippi Tea Party activist Ed Holliday, according to its IRS filings.
Yes, look at the proof! Just as guilty and filthy. CAAP has been all over the media, trying to discourage the Black community from voting. With this info at hand, it is clear who's really behind this and how easily religion is used to fuel hate.

A Petition ask Black Pastors to Stop dividing the Black Community over Gay Marriage

On SignOn.org, there's a petition demanding the Coalition of African American Pastors to stop their foolishness over President Obama's support of Gay Marriage.

Here's the premise:
Instead of uniting the Black Community to fight against Voter ID/Suppression laws, drugs, violent crimes, lack of education, high unemployment and the disproportionate number of Black men in the prison system, the Coalition of African American Pastors (CAAP) is rallying for 100,000 signatures on a petition to stand against President Obama in this election because of his personal views on marriage equality. We must stop allowing our community to be divided over our diversity, and focus on those things that make us the same. Equality has never hurt anyone, it only makes us stronger.
Please check it out and sign if you like.

The Coalition of African American Pastors wants President Obama to Drop his Gay Marriage Support

These fools just can't get it together. A group of Black pastors are asking President Obama to drop his support of gay marriage.

It's not a lot of them, but supposedly they are very influential in the Black community. They got together in Memphis to talk about this big danger of marriage equality.
"The group of black clergy and civil rights leaders say it is time to turn the tide against the 'hijacking' of the civil rights movement," said the Rev. Bill Owens, the coalition's elder statesman and organizer and a veteran of the civil rights movement who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King. "A 50-year-old can only read about the struggles and protests of the civil rights era, but some of us who are older have the battle scars to prove it. And the rights we fought so hard to acquire did not include same-sex marriage."

The coalition argues that there is "no legitimate comparison between skin color and sexual behavior."

The black ministers who came together represent a wide spectrum of religious and political beliefs and many of the pastors have been ardent supporters of President Obama and Democratic causes. But same-sex marriage is where they draw the line.

Owens told The Christian Post that they are "very disappointed" in Obama's newly pronounced support for gay marriage.

"We ask President Obama to stand with the black church, on the Word of God and evolve again back to the common sense biblical view that marriage is the union of husband and wife," he said.
Nonetheless, Owens said the group's goal is to stay away from the issue of whether or not the president will win a second term. "We want to stay away from the political part and stay in the realm of our area which is ministry."
I guess Rev. Bill Owens forgot that it was a gay man who organized the civil rights march and played a huge role in the overall movement.

I guess he also forgot that God's message was for all and not a chosen few.

And he should remember that slave masters used this same Godly rhetoric to keep Blacks in submission. So please, Rev. Bill Owens and the others get on the right side of this.
