ESPN fires Curt Schilling over Transphobic Rant

Some former baseball player on ESPN lost his job over his dumbassery.

Curt Schilling is... well, was a baseball analysts on ESPN. He's also known for his racist and transphobic rants on social media.

On Facebook, he posted this

He also said:
“A man is a man no matter what they call themselves. I don’t care what they are, who they sleep with, men’s room was designed for the penis, women’s not so much. Now you need laws telling us differently? Pathetic.”
Anywho, folks dragged his ass on social media and ESPN responded with this statement:
“ESPN is an inclusive company,” ESPN said in a statement. “Curt Schilling has been advised that his conduct was unacceptable and his employment with ESPN has been terminated.”
So, the jerk go fired and he's all hurt about it. Maybe next time he will keep is bigoted mouth shut.

ESPN Announcer Stuart Scott died this Morning

Sad news, sport fans...

Long time, ESPN anchor Stuart Scott passed away.

ESPN writes:
Among the features of the new ESPN studio in Bristol is a wall of catchphrases made famous by on-air talent over the years. An amazing nine of them belong to one man -- from his signature "Boo-Yah!" to "As cool as the other side of the pillow" to "He must be the bus driver cuz he was takin' him to school."

That man is Stuart Scott, and his contributions to the sports lexicon are writ large. But they are only one aspect of his legacy. When he passed away, he left behind so much more. He inspired his colleagues with his sheer talent, his work ethic and his devotion to his daughters, Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15. He defied convention and criticism to help bring this network into a new century. He spoke to the very athletes he was talking about with a flair and a style that ESPN president John Skipper says, "changed everything."

Stuart Scott made famous the catchphrases "Boo-Yah!" and "As cool as the other side of the pillow."
"He didn't just push the envelope," says sports radio host and former ESPN anchor Dan Patrick. "He bulldozed it."

And he saved his best for his last year on the air. At the ESPYs on July 16, shortly before his 49th birthday and following another round of cancer surgery, Stuart accepted the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance with strength, humor, grace and these eloquent words: "When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live."
He had many fans and was admired in the Black community. He will be missed.

Survey shows Hope for a Gay Football Player

ESPN.com's NFL Nation and ESPN The Magazine created an anonymous survey to see how a gay football player would fair on a team. The results were interesting and a bit hopeful.

  • 51 players responded to four true-false questions on the survey.
  • The survey revealed that most players wouldn't be torn up about it, but would need training on how to deal with an openly gay teammate.
  • 44 players said a teammate's sexual orientation wouldn't matter to them.
  • 39 players said they would be fine showering around a gay teammate.
  • Not so good part:  32 players said they had teammates or coaches who used homophobic slurs last season.
  • 25 players said that a gay teammate would be comfortable in the locker room, but 21 said no, and 5 of didn't answer.

The team or teams will need some type of training or seminar to get them ready. The league will have to get behind this initiative in order for it to be successful. No half-stepping.

Foolishness Alert: ESPN's Chris Broussard said: Jason Collins Is Not ‘A Christian’

This is some mess served on a dirty plate. This Chris Broussard had the nerve to say this:
Personally, I don’t believe that you can live an openly homosexual lifestyle or an openly, like premarital sex between heterosexuals. If you’re openly living that type of lifestyle, then the Bible says you know them by their fruits. It says that, you know, that’s a sin. If you’re openly living in unrepentant sin, whatever it may be, not just homosexuality, whatever it maybe, I believe that’s walking in open rebellion to God and to Jesus Christ. So I would not characterize that person as a Christian because I don’t think the bible would characterize them as a Christian.

Watch here

Child Cheese, you are a fool for saying that. Seriously, wake up, Chris. This is a new frakking day!

Are there Gay Football Players?

Yes, we all know or experienced that somewhere down the line.

But in ESPN mag-rag, writers Bruce Feldman and Ryan Hockensmith surveyed 85 current college players asked the question: Do you have any gay teammates?

This is what the poll had to say:
  • “Do you have any gay teammates?
    • Almost half of those surveyed (49.4%, to be exact) said yes, they believe they have at least one gay teammate. In the Pac-10, 70% of those surveyed said yes.”
Wow! Now, they should asked if they had an sexual experience with them or any other guy. That's where the money is.

ESPN is afraid of a Fist Kiss

I hate to say this, but I'm not surprised to hear about the homophobic ad on ESPN. It's boys, sports, and manhood all in a network.

This ad was stupid at best and I'm a little shocked at Shaq for doing it. However, the power of the gays should never be underestimated. HRC called in to ESPN's diversity department and addressed the issue.

A day or so later, we get this:

We have dozens of executions of the "NBA on ESPN RV Tour" online campaign and none are intended to be offensive to anyone or any community of people. Our intent is to send a positive message about the camaraderie of sports and to do so as creatively as we can. However, we understand your perspective on this ad and would like to apologize to the members of the gay community. In addition, we have decided to remove the ad from the campaign’s online executions.

ESPN has a long-standing tradition of supporting diversity in the workplace and beyond. We are fully committed to continuing a dialogue that welcomes and recognizes diverse perspectives.

We appreciate your bringing your concerns to our attention.

- Rob Tobias- Vice President, Media Relations, ESPN

Shame on you, ESPN. Don't you know, we're running things these days.
