DNC Vice Chair Raymond Buckley was wrong for that email, but it was funny as Hell.

Are those Boycotts of the DNC working? Nope, the DNC raised $13 million in March.

The Dems ain't playing, y'all. They raised millions in March, $13 million in fact. They also beat the Repubs, which is considered a rarity.

The Democratic National Committee raised at least $13 million in the month of March, nearly $2 million more than the Republican National Committee, a Democratic source tells the Huffington Post.

The haul represents a fairly rare victory for the DNC, which traditionally lags behind its GOP counterpart when it comes to raking in donations. A Democrat with the committee pointed to a rejuvenated and enthusiastic Democratic base that is willing to open up their wallets after the passage of health care reform.

I have to take a dig at the boycotts and AmericaBlog's Don't Ask, Don't Give, because I knew they would not affect the numbers. It was a silly ploy from the start, but hey, they tried.

But, I think they should stop now.

5 Rules of LGBT Contributions In The Political Game by David Mixner

David Mixner has provided 5 guidelines to political giving:

1. Do not contribute to Democratic party committees like the DNC, DSCC and DCCC. They will use the funds to not only elect our allies but also Blue Dog Democrats. Even if they set up a 'special committee' for us that will enable them to loosen funds for candidates who are opposed to our freedom.

2. Contribute directly to only those candidates who have proven by either by vote or sponsorships of legislation their commitment to our issues.

3. Contribute to LGBT candidates who most often know how to fight like hell for us. The Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund is one of the most effective groups in Washington,DC.

4. Contribute to our own community and its battles for freedom especially as our young resort to more traditional civil rights tactics.

5. Contribute to defeating our enemies at the local level which is a very powerful message to send those that oppose us.

I agree with some of these, however, I do not think boycotting the DNC and other organizations are wise ideas. Like it or not, they are our allies. We need to get over ourselves and work within this political madness.

Where will our LGBT dollars go? Who would be in charge of it? Are we going to put in some LGBT mattress somewhere?

And is the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund that powerful? Not everyone knows that, perhaps it's time to tell everybody else.

Okay, I'll stop, but I would love to hear your views on this.

DNC Boycott? DNC just raised $11million Bucks!

So, how is that AmericaBlog DNC boycott doing?

You know the one John Aravosis 'n the gang launched against the DNC for shooting JR.

Well, I think after seeing this, maybe we will have some perspective

The Democratic Party raised $11.5 million in October, a record month for a non-presidential election year in the post-McCain-Feingold era, according to a party source.

That leaves the Democratic National Committee with $12.9 million in cash on hand and $4.4 million in outstanding debts. The Republican National Committee raised $8.7 million in October has $11.2 million cash and no debt.

Hmm, so I think the boycott is NOT working for now. Actually, it may never work. If you go on AmericaBlog Gay site and read the responses, you will notice that most of the followers never donated to the DNC in the first place.

So, if your followers haven't donated and your main core buddies don't donate, who are you talking to?

Hey DNC Boycotters! While y'all wasting our time with idle threats, maybe you (John Aravosis and other) should look at the top contributors so far for Obama and DNC (2010) .

Maybe y'all should hit them up first considering they are the top donors for now. Or better yet, holla at ActBlue, that's the powerhouse.

Oh, why am I doing this? I want the boycott/pause/foolishness to fail.

Alex Blaze presents very interesting points about the DNC Boycott

Y'all know my feelings, but I want to share others who don't completely agree with "boycott" business.

Alex Blaze, Managing Editor of The Bilerico Project, had this to say:

1. I thought we were already boycotting the DNC. Am I the only who thought that the gAyTM was already supposed to be shut down?

2. The list of charges against the DNC, in its current form, contains some half-truths and unconfirmed rumors on it. According to MLK, self-purification was an entire step when it came to executing a social justice action, and it should be instinctively obvious as to why. If we're seeking justice, we have to base our actions in truth.

3. They say the boycott ends once ENDA is passed and DOMA and DADT are repealed, but they don't specify whether they mean a transgender-inclusive ENDA or not. Since a known and unapologetic transphobe is organizing this, it's a very appropriate question. (And, yes, I would say the same thing if a homophobic transsexual person were organizing something like this.)

4. There has been some movement forward on LGBT issues. Hate crimes legislation passed, discrimination against trans folks in government was banned, a slew of LGBT people were appointed to high-ranking positions, LGBT-specific health care provisions were included in the House bill, an inclusive ENDA's plugging along, the HUD opened up their definition of family to include LGBT families, the Census Bureau will release data on same-sex couples who put themselves down as "married," the HUD will study LGBT housing discrimination for the first time ever, increased HIV/AIDS treatment funding through the Ryan White CARE Act was proposed in the House, the DHHS lifted the HIV travel ban, abstinence-only education is most likely gone, and the DHHS has promised to create an LGBT senior resource center.

These are important changes for lots of people in the community, and if the biggest thanks the DNC can expect to get is a boycott, then what motivation do they have to move on more issues?

5. DADT repeal and ENDA could get done soon, but I really don't think that DOMA will be repealed for a good, long while. We're 0-31 in the marriage fight at the state level and same-sex marriage polls poorly. There's no way Congress is going to pass that soon.

6. Outside of a small group of gay megadonors (which hasn't signed on, as far as I can tell), are our dollars really enough to get attention? Considering how easily women got thrown under the bus this weekend, and how much more power they have in the party than we do, I don't know if we have the power to hold Democrats to their promises.

7. Um, so if it weren't for ENDA, DOMA, and DADT, would the DNC be alright? I mean, if the GOP announced tomorrow that they support us on these three issues, then does that mean we should donate to John Boehner?

These are good points, something more to think about.
