Delano Hunter... You lay Down with Bigots, you come up a Loser

Poor Delano Hunter. After hooking up with NOM and gaining an endorsement of The Washington Post, he still lost to D.C. City Councilmember and gay rights supporter, Harry Thomas Jr.

In fact, Delano got less than 900 votes in Ward 5. Here's more:

Thomas, a Democrat who voted for the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Equality Amendment Act of 2009, is confident that his vote was not just right, but also good politics, saying, ''[I]f I had been on the other side of this issue as a councilmember, I wouldn't have been as successful [in my re-election campaign].''

Thomas represents Ward 5 in Northeast D.C., which – as he described it to Metro Weekly at his campaign headquarters during a victory party on Tuesday night – has ''a large African-American population, a large Catholic community, a large Baptist and religious community.''

Referring to NOM's perceptions of his ward, Thomas said, ''People automatically assumed they would be so adamantly against someone's rights.''

Thomas, though, said that he made no such assumptions.

''I was … very confident that I could vote my conscience and my honesty and not even try and take anything into account except for the fact that what's right for people, for fairness,'' he said.

And it worked. I hope Delano learned his lesson.

NOM's support of Delano Hunter is BROKE

NOM is trying they're best to unseat the elected officials who supported the Same Sex Marriage law in D.C.

They have been pushing their special candidates in the Democratic Primaries, but their efforts have been a bust.

However, they are making some moves with Ward 5 council hopeful, Delano Hunter. Now, he is (visually) the ideal for Ward 5: Black, young, cute and all that jazz to mesmerize the folks in D.C.

And as you can see, they are really trying play the 'Race Game' with these broke ass ads...
But here's the thing, he's not ready for prime time.

If NOM was smart, they would have schooled Delano a whole lot better in the debating game. Please check out this debate with the Ward 5 candidates, and watch how BROKE Delano really is:

NOM claims they are the New Civil Rights Movement

Lord, somebody give me a 15-piece Buffalo wing platter and Appletini... NOM has lost their goddamned minds.

On their blog, Brian Brown claims to be a part of the New Civil Rights Movement.

Do politicians have a right to strip you of your constitutional right to vote?

Now there's a real burning civil rights question, and it was front and center this week in D.C., both inside and outside the federal courthouse doors.

Outside the courtroom of the D.C. Court of Appeals, we pro-marriage forces rallied under the leadership of Bishop Harry Jackson. "This is the new civil rights movement!" I told a crowd of 250 enthusiastically cheering marriage champions!

Inside the courtroom, Alliance Defense Fund attorney Austin Nimocks was awesome! The D.C. charter, Austin told the full nine-judge panel assembled before the packed courtroom, clearly states, "electors of D.C. may propose laws (except laws appropriating funds)." "The council cannot undermine a right that's expressly granted in the charter," Nimocks said outside. "The people's right to vote is granted in the charter."

Yet local D.C. courts had rejected the people's right to vote for marriage, so now here we were in federal court, asserting core constitutional rights on behalf of the people of D.C.

Sore Losers: NOM goes after Councilmember David Catania

Still feeling the slap in face in D.C., NOM's bitterness is shining through.

They are trying get rid of Councilmember David Catania, by supporting Rev. Anthony J. Motley for the 2010 City Council election.

Motley has accepted two campaign contributions from NOM, and another from the Committee to Elect Delano Hunter. Hunter is running for a seat to represent Ward 5. He has also been supported by NOM.

''Obviously we're interested in electing candidates that will support traditional marriage and allowing voters of D.C. the right to have their say on the issue,'' Brian Brown, executive director of NOM, says. ''Rev. Motley does.''

Marriage should not be the main piece in this battle. Folks are not stupid, they will not jump to the booths to save straight marriage. There's too much going on in D.C. for many to care as much as NOM, so leave our happiness alone!

And maybe it's time for a Fight Back D.C. to put NOM to sleep.

DC Gay Marriage Haters won't give up!

These fools are something else.

For some reason, these folks can't accept gay marriage. So, they are running like tattle-tales to the Supreme Court, hoping overturn the DC gay marriage law.

Opponents of gay marriage are asking the Supreme Court to put a hold on the District of Columbia's new law allowing same-sex couples to wed.

The new law, passed in December, is supposed to take effect Wednesday. Court papers filed Monday with Chief Justice John Roberts argue that Washington residents should be able to vote on the matter. Local courts have rejected the opponents' arguments.

The gay marriage opponents include a Baptist minister, Walter E. Fauntroy, who was Washington's delegate in the House for nearly 20 years.

Just give it up! This is too silly! Walter needs to ask himself, WWJD?

D.C. City Council approves Same-sex marriage

D.C. just did it! They approved same-sex marriage in the nation's capital.

The City Council passed a measure Tuesday legalizing same-sex marriage, making the nation’s capital the first jurisdiction below the Mason-Dixon Line to allow such unions.

The bill, which passed by an 11-2 vote, may still face obstacles in Congress, among city voters and in the courts, but most advocates say they expect it to become law by the spring. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty has said he will sign it.

“Today’s vote is an important victory not only for the gay and lesbian community but for everyone who supports equal rights,” said Councilman David A. Catania, an independent and the author of the bill.

Opponents have vowed to overturn the bill by putting it to a referendum or by working with Congress, which has a month to review the measure once it is signed.

Of course, Bishop Harry Jackson will clown, but I think the LGBT peeps are ready for him and his drama.

More of crazy religious fanatics and "purr" Gods today.

Over 150 people have signed up to speak at the D.C. City Council's hearing on gay marriage. As y'all remember, it was a circus last week. Hopefully, folks will think before they speak, in order to be taken seriously.

Any Miss Copeland-style mess will just erase any case for the opposition. However, it will be really funny to watch. I can't get over how funny that mess was.

Anywho, I will provide as much stuff as I can.
