Anne Rice teases Lestat's Return

Anne Rice went on Facebook and asked fans if they wanted more Lestat. Let's just say her fans responded.

The Advocate has the scoop:

"If you want Lestat to come back, can you tell me why in one sentence?" Rice asked on her Facebook page. Her post received nearly 8,300 comments. The Vampire Chronicles author, and mother of out novelist Christopher Rice, followed that up with,"In one sentence, what one thing do you NOT like about Lestat?" Clearly, more people like Lestat than don't, since that post only received 3,250 comments.

I think we will be seeing him very soon.

Anne Rice Talks about her leap from the Christian faith

Anne Rice is not a Christian anymore!

Our favorite author of dramatic vampires has left Christianity.

"In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-artificial birth control," the author wrote Wednesday on her Facebook page. "In the name of ... Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen."

Rice, 68, is best known for "Interview With a Vampire" and other gothic novels. Raised as a Catholic, she had rejected the church early in her life but renewed her faith in recent years and in 2008 released the memoir "Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession."

In a telephone interview Thursday, Rice said she had been having doubts for the past two to three years. She was troubled by the child abuse scandals in the church, and the church's defensive reaction, and by the ex-communication of Sister Margaret McBride, a nun and hospital administrator who had approved an abortion for a woman whose life was in danger.

"I believed for a long time that the differences, the quarrels among Christians didn't matter a lot for the individual, that you live your life and stay out of it. But then I began to realize that it wasn't an easy thing to do," said Rice, speaking from her home near Palm Springs, Calif. "I came to the conclusion that if I didn't make this declaration, I was going to lose my mind."

But I can say without hesitation that I love Robert Downey Jr. and I think he would make a fabulous Vampire Lestat. He is a major actor, a powerhouse of talent and personality, and he evinces an irrepressible and seductive charm. He would bring great energy and skill to the role. I would love to see this happen.

Anne Rice is a God fearing woman now

The woman who brought gays and vampires together is taking a new path in life. The Lord's path. Yes, Ms Rice has found God and she's quite happy about it.

In her memoir, "Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession," showcases her goal to become a true Christian writer.

Recently at her home in Cali-Cal, she said:

"To be able to take the tools, the apprenticeship, whatever I learned from being a vampire writer, or whatever I was -- to be able to take those tools now and put them in the service of God is a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful opportunity. And I hope I can redeem myself in that way. I hope that the Lord will accept the books I am writing now."

The memoir follows the release of two books in a planned four-part, first-person chronicle of the life of Jesus.

And in this new 245-page memoir, Rice presents her former life as vampire writer as that of a soul-searching wanderer in the deserts of atheism; as someone akin to her most famous literary creations -- Lestat, her "dark search engine," Louis the aristocrat-turned-vampire and Egyptian Queen Akasha, "the mother of all vampires."

"I do think that those dark books were always talking about religion in their own way. They were talking about the grief for a lost faith," she said.

Rice returned to Christ in 2002, but this will be her true beginning as a Christian writer. I wish her luck and I will miss the Mayfair witches.
