A little underwhelmed. They spent a most of the time cleaning the grass off. The teenage soap also took really long with little substance. Then it's the parade of nations which took forever.
A fantastic glimpse of the history of the UK and a memorable and unique tribute to the Olympic ideals using the representative 204 leaves, one from each country, to combine to form one brilliant Olympic Torch illuminating the Summer Games. We are all united in our humanity. Great job, London!
While most folks agreed that it would be hard to follow the Beijing opening ceremonies, and that the British are not know for spectacles, this was even more lame that I thought it would be.
At moments I felt confused, pandered to with all the little children, and the change from an agricultural setting to industrial just made me depress.
Moreover, watching several minutes of those poor volunteers have to remove all that turf was tragic.
And, what was the point of that boy meets girl narrative? Why couldn't there also have been a boy meets, boy and girl meets girl moment.
Only positive is the idea of the Queen parachuting into the stadium. I did laugh at that bit.
