This is one of a million "Oz" project coming out in the next couple of years (can you say over-saturation).
Here's some info on the film:
There is trouble in Oz and Dorothy is needed! With Glinda’s help, she and Toto return to Oz. Joined by her old friends the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, the Lion as well as exciting new characters, Dorothy sets out on a perilous journey to stop the crafty Jester from using the power of the Wicked Witch of the West’s wand to turn the people of Oz into puppets. That seems to be the least of Dorothy’s problems as her travels lead her straight into a treacherous maze, a cave full of very hungry dragons and an evil spell that could destroy the Yellow Brick Road. Dorothy has the daunting knowledge that it is up to her to stop Jester’s terrible plan. Audiences will welcome the return of the old Oz favorites and will love meeting new friends like Tugg a gruff talking boat and Wiser an owl with an unlucky attraction to molasses.
Another one? I still think Tim Burton should adapt THE LAND OF OZ.
ReplyDeleteI agree Eric. I would really like to see a version done by Guillermo del Toro. How freaky would that be!!!
ReplyDeleteI think the books are strong enough not to deviate much from them. Just do the books!!!!
I've been a little put off with Oz "sequels" since Zooey D's horrendous Tin Man, but there are some great, GREAT names in this cast.
ReplyDeleteThe book this is based on, written by a grandson of the author of The Wizard of Oz, is painfully bad.
ReplyDeleteAt the MGM Grand in Vegas they had an Oz themed boutique and I saw Roger Baum at a table signing Dorothy of Oz. I knew I wouldn't be able to mumble anything complimentary so I just walked by.
Hopefully the writers of this adaptation will improve on the source material.
What's with all the sequels to things that were released decades ago? I just don't think it works. It didn't work for Superman Returns, it didn't work for Alice In Wonderland.
ReplyDeleteI really wish they would forget everything that's come before and adapt the books. Considering they're starving for the next Harry Potter, you'd think studios would jump at the possibility of a multiple film franchise.
I wish they'd make an animated film using Skottie Young's art. Yum.
I actually loved the Alice In Wonderland sequel...
ReplyDeleteNot so sure about this Oz one.
