In 1965, about 600 people got together in Selma on Sunday, March 7, to march on the Edmund Pettus Bridge over the Alabama River to Montgomery. However, they were harassed and attacked by Alabama State troopers and local police. Over fifty people were hospitalized after this horrible incident. This was known as Bloody Sunday.

I know just watching the dramatization of that in the movie Selma got me really angry.
ReplyDeleteIn the 1960's cops truly earned the nickname Pigs. Because that is what they are. Even today.
Hell I can remember in the 1980's myself and friends called cops up here pigs too. You'd go by a cop and shout "I smell bacon!"
