After the death of DOMA, bi-national gay couples got some good news. They will be able to apply for green cards on the behalf of their international partners. That's good, or at least a strong step in the right direction.
Again, these couples will receive immigration benefits, which includes green cards.
With green cards, these couples and families can actually be together. This completely changes the game for married gay and lesbian bi-national couples.
But there's still more to do on this front, but now some of the weight will be lifted.

Isn't this what we were hoping for when they had to exclude LGBT couples from Immigration reform?
ReplyDeleteNow does this mean those living IN the USA? Does this extend to a non usa partner of an american citizen living OUTSIDE of the usa???

DeleteI don't think so. They would need some proof and a lot of paperwork. Couples who already have the paperwork and licenses are fine. However, I am not clear on the initial process
