I am the proud father of two children, one son and one daughter. I love them dearly. They are certainly old enough to know what and who they want. Whatever decision they chose...and it's their choice, I would love them unconditionally.
What saddens me about this is that perhaps had Whitney been gay--we really don't know--and had a mother who accepted her, maybe her drug use wouldn't have spiraled out of control. Cissy says she and Whitney didn't see much of one another through the years, well, if your child is gay and they know you don't like it, why wouldn't they want to be around you. So many gay folks turn away from family and turn to drugs after rejection for coming out, or the suspicion that they're gay....I don't know if that's Whitney's story, but.....what if?

This doesn't surprise me at all. Cissy is of the old guard thinking where gay and black don't mix well out in the open. It's sad.
