Interesting Quote: Adam Lambert

“As a community, we’re a little bit resistant to a gay male pop star ourselves. It’s very easy for people to look at my origin, which is American Idol, and automatically assume that I’m a commercial sellout or a puppet or a flash in the pan. I don’t think I’m any of those things. There’s something weird there. We’re very eager to celebrate a strong female. But to celebrate a fellow gay man – it gets catty sometimes.”

He has a point

  1. Honestly, I don't consider Adam Lambert a gay man. To me he's a gay cartoon character. If he got rid of the eye liner THEN he'd be a man. I want very much to like him, but when I see him all I can think is "this guy's a joke". Right or wrong, those are my feelings.

That said, the pic you have here of him shows him with relatively little eye liner. He looks much better than usual, and in fact I think think it's be the best he's looked since gaining fame.

  3. He has a point, but how many gay pop stars are there for us to idolize? I mean STAR not exporn star turned horrible club DJ, or guy who makes techno beats and posts them to youtube?

I don't like Adam but for the same reason I don't like Gaga, i think he's music is lame and he is a character of himself I don't care for.

On the other hand I fucking LOVED Clay Atkin even when he was denying himself for years and if he still made mushy love/pop songs now I'd be all over that shit. I also love the next closet case David Archuletta. I think we have more a problem with out gay men getting promotted than gay community being catty.

  4. + can you point to any similar "cattiness" directed at George Michael, Luther Vandross, Elton John, Andrew Lloyd Weber?

    I thinks not
