The American people were not on board with abolishing Jim Crow laws. The American People would have voted against segregation, interracial marriage equality, civil rights for blacks, etc...
Civil rights should never go to the public. Why? The majority of Americans are bigots - especially those Right Religious wingnuts and the bamboozled, gullible and ignorant Negros. I call it like I know it!
