Interesting Quote: Washington Archbishop Donald W. Wuerl

“It is ironic that at the same time the city is asking for voting representation in the U.S. Congress, its leaders are denying residents the opportunity to participate in the democratic process for an issue with widespread implications for children and families. One challenge we see today is a lack of understanding by many people about what marriage is.

Marriage simply recognizes a relationship that is fundamental to nature: the complementarity of man and woman. That relationship is not a creation of church or civil law. However, governments and faith groups recognize marriage as between a man and woman because the exclusive, mutual and lifelong gift of a husband and wife to each other is the most stable and secure foundation to create and nurture children.”

Donald Duck, please save that foolishness for Jesus.

You said that, One challenge we see today is a lack of understanding by many people about what marriage is. Yes, YOU have a lack understanding about what marriage is.

And this part here, lifelong gift of a husband and wife to each other is the most stable and secure foundation to create and nurture children.

Are you kidding me? Are you reading the bible or Mother Goose?

You're killing me, Donald Duck. Times are changing and folks are not caught up in the fairy tale style of marriage, or wear big drag outfits you wear in the name of God, but that's another story.

Have you actually looked at marriage lately?

Marriage for a man and woman is not the dream gift these days. It's a subject for tabloids, an hour long spectacle for Bravo and We television, a season finale of a show and a hot scheme to get rich quick.

Open your eyes to the reality, man! Marriage is not what you think it is... It's becoming a whole lot more.

  1. He also needs to stop confusing the religious ritual and doctrines with the laws of the land, which he seems to be somewhat unfamiliar with. After all, that is what representatives are elected to vote on. Is he suggesting that special elections be called for every bill and law that comes up, not just on the local level but at state and federal levels as well?
