Bizzaro Land for LGBT British Columbia Youth

Here's some fascinating news I found on Queerty today; a B.C. Adolescent Health Survey study revealed an interesting bit of info about younger counterparts in British Columbia. It seems that LGB teens are at a greater risk of having babies or making babies than their straight peers.

This is due to the discrimination, harassment and sexual abuse they received in their lives.

The authors say that these teens are more likely to take part in behaviours such as not using condoms or starting to have sex at an early age. British Columbia is the only province that tracks trends in sexual health for lesbian, gay and bisexual teens as well as heterosexual youth.

The sad part is this: LGB teens only engage in this stuff to avoid being teased and possibly assaulted. So they are pressured to make unwise decisions in order to stay out of trouble...only it makes more trouble and possibly a baby to witness their pain and resentment.

I hope their district take heed of this info and work something out. Those kids need support and encouragement.
