Interesting Quote: Eric Cantor

“I think an even bigger issue than that, from a cultural standpoint, is the acceptance of diversity. And the acceptance of diversity of opinion, at some point we’re all here as Americans and we all have to be appreciative of other people’s views.”
“And it’s that tolerance, I think that that tolerance is something that enables people to be passionate about their positions. And if you’re for gay marriage, this country allows you to express your views. Some states support it and allow it, and others don’t. But its ok to have that difference of opinion in that."

Wait, did he really say that?

Question of the Day

Have you seen The Dark Knight Rises and if so, what did you think?

Mike Huckabee declares "Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day”

Mike Huckabee wants to support and protect Chick-Fil-A from us mean people. So he has created "Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day.”

There's even a Facebook page for this:

I ask you to join me in speaking out on Wednesday, August 1 "Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day.” No one is being asked to make signs, speeches, or openly demonstrate. The goal is simple: Let's affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1. Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm traditional values, we're considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant.

This effort is not being launched by the Chick Fil-A company and no one from the company or family is involved in proposing or promoting it.

There's no need for anyone to be angry or engage in a verbal battle. Simply affirm appreciation for a company run by Christian principles by showing up on Wednesday, August 1 or by participating online – tweeting your support or sending a message on Facebook.
I'll tweet my support... against them and their broke chicken sandwiches. I'll stick to Long John Silvers.

EA goes to war against DOMA

Gay Gamers rejoice! The Video Game Mothership known as EA are taking their stand against the anti-gay establishment very seriously.
They are going to war on DOMA!
The video game company signed an amicus brief with 70 other employers, including the city of Seattle, Gap Inc. and Xerox, urging the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to find DOMA unconstitutional.
"DOMA presents a number of problems for businesses like EA," the company wrote in a statement. "It creates regulatory, tax, and discrimination complications for employers, and that's why we're standing against it. The underlying lawsuit impacts all employers no matter how big or small, and no matter the industry, and we encourage other business to join these efforts."
Wow, it's nice to see the video game giant get into the equality fight.

Olympic Athletes shut down Grindr

I guess Olympic champions need love too.

Word on the street said the hook-up app Grindr crashed once the Olympic athletes got into London this past weekend.

Mirror News reports
One Londoner said: “It happened almost as soon as the teams got here. Either loads of athletes were logging on to meet fellow Olympians or were looking to bag a local.
“The Grindr system obviously couldn’t cope. It took 24 hours for the app to get back up and running, much to the relief of all concerned.”

The site was launched in 2009 and claims to have four million customers worldwide.
London is the most popular city for the app, with 350,000 registered users. The website advertises itself as a way to find “a new date, buddy or friend”.

Founder Joel Simkhai said in Los Angeles: “I want to personally apologize to users.
“I know it was frustrating. I was frustrated myself. I also rely on Grindr in my day-to-day personal life. It made me feel disconnected.
They got it back up, but for a moment gays may had to do the ancient ritual of talking to someone.

What we know about James Holmes

So far, here's what we know about James Holmes:
  • Supposedly, he is a gifted scientist
  • He got a federal grant working at the top neuroscience programs in the country
  • James was a loner
  • He came from upper-middle class
  • He has no internet presence
  • James is STILL considered a suspect
  • James was a camp counselor for underprivileged children
  • He was a High School honor student
  • James one of six recipients of a Neuroscience Training Grant from the National Institutes of Health
  • He was very nice
So basically, James has broke the mold on killers. He didn't come from a broken home, grow up in the hood, lacked education, had a tough childhood, lacked opportunities or had a history of violence.
If anything, he proved that anyone can be capable of madness. Anyone can be dangerous.
