We are really miles ahead of the way it was then. It's human nature to resist change. As older generations die off, the times change. Look at the difference in racism. We've come a long way, but it's ugliness is still out there. It's happening, just not nearly as fast as most of us would like, but it is happening. <br />PeaceAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-314457289305223264.post-6796153296493633452009-05-26T16:20:57.647-07:002009-05-26T16:20:57.647-07:00change will come only when we are ready...change will come only when we are ready...Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14948903601663342276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-314457289305223264.post-20491897173579785902009-05-26T15:03:40.164-07:002009-05-26T15:03:40.164-07:00Good post! That still hasn't passed and was dropped, but some changes were made. Every American citizen should have equal rights and not have to fight for them. Unfortunately, despite the words our government was based on, that's not how it was with American Indians and others along the way until now. As I used to tell my students when I taught US History, what they meant was that all white men over 21 who owned property were created equal. As it turns out, "straight" should be added before men, too. At least you could vote before 1920 when women got the vote.Joyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15718724697267800263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-314457289305223264.post-62140974196683388712009-05-26T14:32:49.016-07:002009-05-26T14:32:49.016-07:00I agree.
