CNN celebrates the Gay Latino Community

CNN presents a great article about Gay Latino America. The community is on the rise and it's high time they get exposure.

While I applauded the article, I wasn't a fan of them highlighting Perez Hilton. Out of many activists and fighters, they chose to talk about Perez. He's Latino, but he's also a mess. It's like highlighting J.L. King for the Black LGBT community.

Anyway, they showcase stronger LGBT folks like, Lourdes Torres, Emanuel Xavier and gay Latino activist and blogger, Andres Duque, whose blog is called "Blabbeando."

Please check out the article, it's a great start in celebrating an important group in our community.

Gee I'm shocked, I thought there was only white gays and black gays in Americaland. This is a real revelation.

Thank you for posting an interesting and in many ways important article.

I wonder why CNN never focused on the black LGBT community (outside of HIV/AIDS and DL sensationalism)? That is quite dissappointing.

Well thank you for posting about this. I think that visibility is good for everyone. I just do not know much about any of them. I am more familiarize with the queer community in PR.

ToddyEnglish, I wondered the same thing. It's like when it comes to use who are Black and LGBT it's like an imaginary friend that doesn't really exist. There are a number of out activists like Keith Boykin, Jasmyne Cannick, etc. So what gives CNN?
